Chapter 404 - 402: The Cultivation World Has Changed Greatly
Three days later, in the afternoon.
A large ship bearing the flag of the Bloodfiend Den appeared on the horizon, sailing slowly through the clouds. Several red-eyed skulls hung from the vessel, which, combined with the black-and-red flag, made it instantly recognizable as a ship belonging to the Demonic Sects. Most people didn’t dare to get close.
Not far away, a flock of avian Spirit Beasts flew across the sky, crying out as they passed.
On the bow of the ship.
Aaron Sinclair sat on the railing, one foot propped on top. Beside him was a sea of clouds that stretched to the horizon. Peering down through a break in the clouds, he could see a stunning landscape of mountains spread out below.
"Nice view," he murmured, pulling out his phone to snap a picture of the scenery. Meanwhile, on the other side of the bow, Javier Sinclair and Celeste Grant stood at the railing, gazing down at the Cultivation World.
Celeste Grant’s gaze swept over the cities below, and her attention was drawn to several tall structures.
She lifted a hand to rub her eyes and murmured, ’Is there something wrong with my eyes?’ A building was floating in mid-air, its base on the ground. The architecture was unmistakably from the Cultivation World, but she was certain it was a school because she could read the characters on the sign: ’Immortal-Demon Hope Elementary.’
The flags of the Bloodfiend Den and the Immortal Sect flew above the school. It was obvious that this was an institution jointly established by the Immortal and Demonic Paths.
She had thought about building schools herself, but she had yet to put the idea into action.
Seeing these buildings, Celeste Grant was utterly astonished. "Immortal-Demon Hope Elementary? Th-this... The outside world has changed so much in the thirty years I’ve been in seclusion. They’ve even gone and built Hope Elementary schools."
The moment she saw the familiar words "Hope Elementary," the face of the ultimate overachiever subconsciously appeared in her mind.
’It’s her... Leo.’
Nana Warren came from the same world as her, and back there, she had been a notorious overachiever. There was no way she could sit idle after arriving in this world. More importantly, Celeste knew without a doubt that Nana Warren wanted to make the little brats of the Cultivation World suffer through the same academic torment she had once endured.
Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh at the thought. A smile played on her lips as she said, "Immortal-Demon Hope Elementary... haha, not bad at all."
’This world is most focused on Cultivation, but studying is actually very important too.’
’If you can’t read, how can you understand Cultivation Methods? How can you grasp their profound meanings? Without an education, how can you understand reason and logic, or know how to apply knowledge to make your Cultivation twice as effective? That’s why, besides Cultivation, one must also study hard.’
"Come on, let’s go down and have a look."
"Alright." Javier Sinclair gave a slight nod.
The ship descended, passing through the clouds and heading toward the city below.
The ship came to a halt, hovering in mid-air without landing.
The family of three flew out into the open air.
Glancing down at the bustling city before them, Aaron Sinclair turned to his parents. "Mom, you and Dad should go for a walk in the city. See if there’s anything you want to buy, hold hands, and enjoy some time alone. I won’t get in your way. I’ll go wander around by myself. Just call me if you need anything."
"Alright." Celeste Grant took Javier Sinclair’s hand, glancing up at him. "Darling, let’s go for a stroll."
With that, the pair flew off toward the city, landing on a street in a flash.
Back in mid-air, Aaron Sinclair waved a hand, and the hovering ship vanished. Seeing that his parents were gone, he too flew toward the city, disappearing into the crowd in the blink of an eye.
Meanwhile.
Celeste Grant and Javier Sinclair strolled hand-in-hand through the city.
This was a Grand Cultivator City located at the border between the territories of the Demonic Sects and the Immortal Sect. Cultivators from both the Immortal and Demonic Paths mingled freely within the city walls, alongside merchants and tourists from all over, creating a massive, cosmopolitan City of Cultivators.
As far as the eye could see, shops of all kinds were open for business, with no shortage of stores selling Magic Treasures and Elixir Pills. On this particular street, many of the establishments were owned by their Bloodfiend Den. They were easy to recognize thanks to the Den’s insignia on their signboards.
"Fellow Cultivators, come and take a look! The official Bloodfiend Den mobile phone store! For the next two days, we have a top-up promotion! Buy credit, get credit free! Come on in! Top up enough and we’ll even give you a free phone!"
Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh when she heard about the top-up promotion. ’Selling the phones themselves only makes money at the start. The real, continuous stream of Spirit Stones comes from the phone bills later on. While the monthly fee isn’t much per person, the sheer population of the Cultivation World is staggering. As a result, a steady flow of Cultivation Resources streams into our accounts every day.’
"Hurry up! If we’re late, everything will be gone!"
"I have to get what I want today!"
Cultivators zipped past them, flying off into the distance.
Celeste Grant raised an eyebrow. ’Where’s everyone going in such a rush?’ She gently stopped a passing female cultivator. "Excuse me, fellow cultivator, what’s happening up ahead? Everyone seems so excited."
The female cultivator replied, "You don’t know? Today is Double Eleven! The Pavilion of Wonders, run by the Bloodfiend Den, is having a twenty-percent-off sale on Elixir Pills and Magic Treasures. It’s way cheaper than usual. Not only that, a lot of items are straight up half-price! I can’t talk anymore, I gotta go! If I’m late, all the good stuff will be gone!"
Hearing the familiar term, the corner of Celeste Grant’s mouth twitched.
Her mind drifted back to her previous world. ’The Double Eleven shopping frenzy... Even though you know it’s just a marketing ploy, it’s like an unspoken agreement. The moment the day arrives, it’s a free-for-all for all the girls. Shopping carts are filled to the brim, and you end up with a mountain of packages at home you can never finish unboxing.’
She didn’t even have to guess who came up with this whole "Double Eleven" idea.
Celeste Grant laughed at the thought, her eyes scanning the various advertisements and banners strung up around the city. They read: "Double Eleven! Buy, buy, buy! You can’t lose, you can’t be tricked! Double Eleven saves you Spirit Stones, so what are you waiting for?"
Celeste Grant murmured, "Leo, it could only be you. You’re really something else. An overachiever is gonna overachieve, no matter where they are."
’As a capitalist myself, I feel that hiring Leo was a truly wise decision. And then making her work for me for three thousand years... A surefire profit with no chance of loss.’
’Leo is the ultimate employee. She’s incredibly resourceful; give her a single coin, and she’ll figure out how to mint a fortune. That might be a slight exaggeration, but I’ve never doubted Leo’s abilities.’
The two of them wandered casually through the city, buying quite a few things.
「That evening.」
They called for their son, and the family of three had dinner together at the largest restaurant in the city. By the time they returned to the Bloodfiend Den, it was already the following afternoon.
The sun was setting.
When the three of them appeared in the main plaza of the Bloodfiend Den, the gazes of countless Demon Cultivators fell upon them. Seeing Celeste Grant and her family, their eyes lit up.
Someone cried out, "Look! It’s The Exalted One and the Lady!"
"And the Young Master!"
Come to think of it, it had been a long time since they had last seen the Lady and her family.
