Chapter 388 - 386: Wait for My Breakthrough, and We’ll Go to The Upper Realm Together
No wonder she marveled at how fast it all happened.
Things really were moving fast.
She gestured lightly, unable to hold back her comment. "They only met for the first time yesterday and they’re already a couple. That’s what you call love at first sight."
The saying might be a bit crude, but it’s true: every pot has its lid. It just so happened that Daisy liked fair-skinned, clean-cut male cultivators, while that particular male cultivator had a thing for tall, powerful-looking female cultivators. What a coincidence, right? The moment they met, they were instantly attracted to each other. It was love at first sight, and they got together right away.
"You have a sharp eye for people, Madam. You truly are the perfect matchmaker." Nerida, who was standing before Celeste Grant, smiled and continued, "And they didn’t just hit it off. I heard from the disciples at Bloodfury Hall that Daisy carried him straight home last night. Many disciples in the Bloodfiend Den saw it. They were all wide-eyed, thinking Daisy had gone and snatched a husband from the outside."
Just hearing about it, you could tell the scene must have stunned a lot of the Cultivators.
"Carried him straight home?" Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh. "Hahaha, that sounds exactly like something she would do. A classic case of a demoness abducting her man. A bandit queen carrying her husband home." She might be a bit of a brute, but Daisy knew exactly what she wanted. ’This must be fate,’ she thought. ’It seems my casual mention actually led to a happy union.’
In the beginning, Celeste had only thought of Daisy on a whim, feeling the two of them might be a good fit. She’d only intended for them to meet, never expecting it to actually work out. And not only did it work out, but the feelings were mutual.
The siblings, Damon and Daisy Grant, were highly recognizable figures within the Bloodfiend Den; you could spot them from a mile away. It was because of their sheer size. Damon, for example, was two meters tall, with a towering, muscular build and rugged features. His body was like that of a great bear, radiating power.
His younger sister, Daisy Grant, was nearly 1.8 meters tall, with a tall, strong, and muscular build. She was a true powerhouse among female cultivators, so when the two stood together, she was just a slightly smaller version of her towering brother. And who would have thought that this pair of siblings would both find fair-skinned, beautiful Taoist Companions?
At this thought, Celeste Grant smiled faintly.
"Looks like we have a wedding feast to look forward to."
Nerida gave a small smile.
The siblings’ happy day came quickly.
「A few days later.」
The siblings Damon and Daisy Grant came to see Celeste Grant and Javier Sinclair.
When they arrived, Celeste and Javier were sitting in a pavilion, feeding the fish. In the water below the pavilion, various kinds of Spirit Fish swam. Some even seemed capable of flight, soaring slowly above the surface before splashing back down and stirring up a gust of Immortal Spirit Qi.
The pair walked forward and knelt on one knee, placing a hand over their chest as they bowed.
"We pay our respects, Exalted One, Madam."
"We pay our respects, Exalted One, Madam."
Celeste turned, her gaze falling upon the siblings outside the pavilion. She gave a small gesture with her hand. "You may rise."
"Thank you, Exalted One. Thank you, Madam."
Once they had risen, Javier Sinclair, who sat beside Celeste, gave them a brief glance. "What is it?"
Beads of sweat formed on Damon Grant’s forehead as he stammered nervously. In the end, his sister Daisy nudged him aside. She looked at the two of them and said, "Exalted One, Madam, my brother and I are preparing to hold our dual cultivation ceremonies next month. We would like to ask you to attend and officiate for us."
’In the past, they would never have dared to be so presumptuous. But now, they truly saw The Exalted One and Madam as family, which was why they had mustered the courage to ask.’
Damon Grant scratched his head, smiling sheepishly. "That’s right," he said, abashed. "My father-in-law has already approved my marriage to Wanda. And since my sister Daisy has also found her partner, we’d like to hold our wedding ceremonies together. We hope you, Madam, and you, Exalted One, will attend and officiate for both of us."
Celeste Grant smiled. ’I knew they’d come,’ she thought. ’And here they are. To be honest, even if they hadn’t asked, I was determined to be their officiant. After all, Rook and Daisy are pillars of the Bloodfiend Den and completely loyal to us.’
"Haha, you want to hold your dual cultivation ceremonies? That’s wonderful news! Of course we agree."
Javier Sinclair nodded slightly. "I have no objections."
Celeste said with a smile, "Have Elder Lawson pick an auspicious date for you. We can all celebrate together."
Overjoyed, the pair bowed to them.
"Thank you, Exalted One! Thank you, Madam!"
"Thank you, Exalted One! Thank you, Madam!"
"We’re all family here, there’s no need to be so formal." Celeste smiled, her tone teasing. "Rook, it took you long enough, but you finally won over your father-in-law. That couldn’t have been easy! We’ve been waiting for this wedding feast for a long time. Now that you and your sister have both found Taoist Companions you adore, your Exalted One and I are very happy for you."
Rook scratched his head and chuckled foolishly. "It’s my blessing that my father-in-law is willing to marry Wanda to me." ’As for the time it took? That was nothing. He would have waited a few decades, let alone a few years.’
"Alright, go on and get ready," Celeste said. She paused for a moment, her gaze turning to Daisy. "By the way, Daisy, is your husband marrying into your family, or are you marrying into his?"
At the question, Daisy spoke up. "Madam, Leo Forrest has no family left. His uncles are all scum. Leo said he wants to marry into my family and live with us. From now on, he’ll be a son-in-law of the Bloodfiend Den. But my heart aches for him, so I’ve already discussed it with my brother and sister-in-law. Any children we have in the future will take his last name."
Celeste didn’t comment on that, simply nodding. "That’s good. You two should go and get ready."
"Yes. We will take our leave, then."
After bowing, the siblings took their leave, one following the other.
Once they were gone and they were alone again, Celeste scooted closer to Javier, leaning against him as she resumed feeding the fish. She watched the fish in the water below the railing. "After Rook and Daisy’s wedding, I’m going into seclusion for my Cultivation," she said. "I want to try for a breakthrough as soon as I can."
Javier nodded slightly.
"Mm. I’ll go and stand guard for you."
Hearing this, Celeste glanced at him. "I’m going to The Forbidden Land to cultivate. You won’t be cultivating, so won’t you be bored just watching over me?"
Javier said coolly, "No. I’m at ease when I’m by your side."
She tipped the last of the fish food into the water and set the empty plate aside. Her gaze shifted to the face of the man beside her. He was watching her, his eyes full of sincerity.
Celeste reached out and gently cupped his face. She kissed his cheek, her eyes meeting his. "You’re so good to me, my Archfiend." She wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in the crook of his neck. "I’ll cultivate diligently," she murmured. "When I achieve my breakthrough, I’ll go with you to the Upper Realm."
Javier gazed at the woman in his arms.
He raised a hand to gently stroke her hair.
"We’ll ascend together then."
