Chapter 378 - 376: The Archfiend, You’re Holding Me So Tight
Just as she finished speaking, a figure appeared silently behind her. A hand gently tapped her on the shoulder.
"Auntie."
"Huh?"
Hearing the voice, Amanda Grant quickly turned around to see someone standing right behind her.
The lanterns in the courtyard cast a bright glow that evening, and he stood right in the light. He was tall, with a slender, upright build. His face was picturesque and uncommonly handsome—truly a stunning sight. He looked so much like her sister and brother-in-law. ’What was that saying from the storybooks again? A man as fine as jade, a gentleman without equal in this world!’
Seeing the young man before her, Amanda Grant let out a silent, marmot-like scream in her heart.
SQUEEEEEEE!
’Whose nephew is this, so handsome!’
’He’s mine! He’s my nephew!’
She walked up to him, looking him up and down before speaking. "You must be Aaron, right? Oh, my, you’re just so handsome."
Aaron Sinclair was smiling at her. "Hehe," he chuckled. "I know I’m handsome, Auntie, but you’re going to make me blush if you keep staring like that."
Hearing this, Amanda Grant couldn’t help but laugh out loud. "Haha, you really get shy?" She lightly patted his chest and arm, nodding repeatedly.
"Not bad, not bad. Very solid, and tall too." She said, opening her arms. "Come here, my dear nephew, let your Auntie give you a proper hug. I held you when you were little, so I have to hold you now."
"Of course." Aaron Sinclair stretched out his arms and bent down slightly to hug her. "Go ahead, hug all you want."
"Look how big you’ve grown." Amanda Grant looked at the young man before her, affectionately stroking his head. "Such a good nephew. Come on, let’s go see your mother."
"My mom is with Grandma," Aaron Sinclair said with a faint smile. "Dinner’s ready. We were just waiting for you."
As they spoke, the two of them headed toward the front hall.
...
「In the front hall.」
A round table was already laden with dishes, all personally cooked by Celeste Grant and Mrs. Grant. Javier Sinclair and the others had helped out too.
Even in The Cultivation World, with its long and arduous path of Cultivation, having the chance for a family to gather for a reunion dinner was a true blessing.
"These are all your favorite dishes. You have to eat plenty later."
"Mhm. Mom made this roast duck herself. I’ll definitely have plenty."
Celeste Grant was talking with Mrs. Grant when she heard light footsteps from the doorway. Then came her son’s voice, followed by another.
"Mom, Dad, I’m back."
"Mom, Aunt Amanda is back."
Hearing the voices, Celeste Grant, who was helping serve the food, put down the plate of lotus root slices in her hand and looked up at the door. She saw her son walk in first, followed by a young woman.
The newcomer had two hairpins in her hair and a long braid that hung down over one shoulder. It was a completely different face from before. This face was beautiful and elegant, and her eyes and brows bore some resemblance to Mrs. Grant’s.
The newcomer was Amanda Grant. In the book, she was the tragic female supporting character, as well as the former Celeste Grant. She looked different from when Celeste had seen her soul body. Back then, she had been filled with an aura of death and resentment, truly looking like a vicious supporting character. But now, she was vibrant, bright, and full of life—the gloom had scattered, and she was reborn.
She knew what the female supporting character in the book had gone through, so seeing her like this now, Celeste Grant felt a sense of gratified relief.
’She has been reborn.’
’This is wonderful.’
Amanda Grant, who had just walked in, also saw Celeste Grant. Their eyes met, and though no words were spoken, they exchanged a smile.
Amanda Grant slowly walked forward until she stopped in front of Celeste Grant.
She looked up slightly, a wide smile on her face.
"Big Sis, I get to see you again. It’s so good to see you."
"Yes! I’m very happy to see you again too," Celeste Grant said, also breaking into a smile.
Looking at the beautiful woman before her, Celeste Grant said, "Congratulations on your new life."
Amanda Grant gave a knowing smile. "I have you to thank for this, Big Sis. You helped me break free from my fate. I have to thank you for giving me this chance at a new life. Thank you." As she spoke, her eyes began to well up. She had never imagined she could one day escape her destiny and live such a free and untroubled life.
"What are you crying for? This is a wonderful thing, you should be happy." Celeste Grant took her hand. "No need to thank me. We’re family."
Amanda Grant reached out and hugged her. "Big Sis, it’s so good to have you."
’Big Sis was sent by the heavens to save me. She’s the family the heavens have given me.’
Celeste Grant gently patted her back. "Little Sis, I’m also very happy to be your older sister."
Standing to the side, Aaron Sinclair smiled slightly and said, "Alright, alright. It’s time to eat. Mom, Auntie, please take your seats. Today is a day for our family reunion."
"Right... Big Sis, Second Sis, hurry and sit."
Just then, Charlie Grant, who was walking in from outside, pulled out their chairs for them.
"Okay, thanks, Little Bro."
"We’re all family here, no need for formalities. Everyone sit down and eat."
That night, the moon was half-hidden by the clouds, and the sky was dotted with countless stars.
Celeste Grant’s family gathered together for a reunion dinner.
"Charlie, open that bottle of wine I bought earlier. Tonight, I’m going to have a good drink with your brother-in-law. To celebrate their return, and to celebrate our family reunion."
"Yes, Dad."
Charlie Grant got up, opened the wine, and personally poured them full glasses.
As they drank and ate, laughter frequently rang out from the front hall.
"Javier, have another cup! I’m happy tonight."
"Alright, Father-in-law. Let me fill yours up..."
With joyful voices and laughter, the family reunion was full of warmth and harmony.
’This must be the simplest form of happiness.’
Even Javier Sinclair was swept up in the atmosphere. He was a bit uncomfortable at first, but in the end, he started drinking along with Mr. Grant.
「Until very late.」
Celeste Grant draped Javier Sinclair’s arm over her shoulder and led him back to her room.
「In the room.」
Half of Javier Sinclair’s body was leaning on Celeste Grant, his arms wrapped around her neck.
Having had too much to drink, he was quiet and pliable, walking when Celeste Grant told him to walk and stopping when she told him to stop.
"Stand still, I’m closing the door."
She waved her hand lightly.
The door closed.
She led him to the edge of the bed and had him sit down.
"This is my room. You’re going to sleep."
Javier Sinclair sat upright on the edge of the bed. Celeste Grant stood before him, and he only had eyes for her as she spoke.
Standing before him, Celeste Grant leaned in close. "What are you looking at? Lie down and sleep. Oh, and move over. I’ll sleep on the outside."
A hand reached out and gently touched her face, fingers brushing against her cheek.
"Wife."
He called out to her, and before Celeste Grant could react, he grabbed her waist, pulled her forward, and wrapped his arms around her.
Javier Sinclair leaned lightly against her and murmured, "Wife, just holding you like this makes me feel at peace. Will you always be by my side?"
Celeste Grant froze for a moment, looking down at the man leaning on her. She smiled faintly and reached out to stroke his head. "Does that even need to be said? I’ll always be by your side."
