Chapter 392 - 390: Why Do I Know Carpentry?

In a cave deep within The Forbidden Land, Celeste Grant was in closed-door Cultivation. She sat cross-legged, and just like before, her Spirit Root had sprouted from the top of her head, blooming with a string of small red flowers. The nature’s spiritual energy in The Forbidden Land gathered, surging into her cave and slowly pouring into her body.

Her body was wreathed in Immortal Spirit Qi, and her face was breathtakingly beautiful. The flowers blooming from her Spirit Root could multiply her Cultivation speed countlessfold, as if she were using a cheat.

If Cultivation could be visualized, hers would surely look like this: Cultivation Increasing +1+1+1+1+1+1+1...

While Celeste Grant was in seclusion, Javier Sinclair took up residence in The Forbidden Land to act as her protector.

Outside the cave, Arrays were set up everywhere, and the surroundings were planted with plum trees and various poisonous herbs and Spiritual Medicines.

In Cultivation, time has no meaning.

It was normal for Cultivators to go into seclusion for several years, or even decades at a time, so Javier Sinclair didn’t know when his wife would emerge this time. But he wasn’t in a hurry; he would just wait patiently.

Therefore, after settling in, he took out a pile of Ten-thousand-year-old Spirit Wood from his storage space. These were refining materials he had collected in the past, and since he was idle anyway, he planned to refine something. But as soon as he took out the Spirit Wood, he found himself subconsciously starting to do carpentry.

That’s right... he was... doing... CARPENTRY!!!

He looked utterly shocked.

’Why do I know how to do carpentry?’

Javier Sinclair was certain he didn’t know how to do any of this back in The Upper Realm. Yet now, upon taking out the Spirit Wood, he instinctively knew what to do.

He raised his hands, his gaze falling upon them in disbelief. "This is truly strange!" Javier Sinclair muttered. He raised an eyebrow slightly, unable to fight his self-doubt. ’I actually know carpentry. Could this be what they call innate talent?’

’No, no... I didn’t know how before! So if I know carpentry now, there can only be one explanation: the other Javier Sinclair knows carpentry.’

’In other words, I’ve been influenced by her ex-husband, which is why I can do carpentry now.’ At this moment, Javier Sinclair felt a corner of his mouth twitch, his expression becoming indescribable.

’I really don’t want to admit that the other Javier Sinclair is also me. What on earth did that ex-husband of hers do for a living to even know carpentry? If word got out that the supreme ruler of The Demonic Domain was here doing carpentry, wouldn’t it damage our domain’s prestige?’

"In that case... I’ll just make a set of furniture for Celeste with my own hands, so she can be comfortable."

’Prestige is nothing compared to Celeste.’

’I can’t lose to that ex-husband of hers. From now on, the bed Celeste sleeps on, the table and chairs she uses—they can only be ones I’ve crafted myself.’ At this thought, he gave a smug snort and got to work.

Javier Sinclair used Magic combined with the Ten-thousand-year-old Spirit Wood to create an exquisite set of furniture. He also carved Arrays and intricate patterns onto them.

This furniture, which he crafted with his own hands, was for Celeste Grant to use in the future.

And so, the days passed one by one, with only his solitary figure bustling about in The Forbidden Land.

Wood shavings piled up on the ground.

The amount of furniture around him grew: tables, chairs, stools, wardrobes, beds. Javier Sinclair found the work getting smoother and smoother.

Looking at him now, Javier Sinclair really just looked like a carpenter. Who would have thought that this man, so earnestly marking lines on wood, using Magic to cut it, and personally making furniture, was that dreaded Demon? The contrast was immense.

And then there was that pile of Ten-thousand-year-old Spirit Wood.

If anyone saw him using Ten-thousand-year-old Spirit Wood to build furniture, they would be utterly distraught and accuse him of a monstrous waste. Ten-thousand-year-old Spirit Wood was a material for refining Immortal Artifacts, and he was using it to make furniture.

Javier Sinclair gazed at the furniture he had personally crafted and nodded slightly. "Not bad. Celeste should like these."

Once the furniture was finished, Javier Sinclair started using the leftover Spirit Wood to carve all sorts of skulls. The skulls he carved were hung all over the inside and outside of the cave, until eventually, skulls of all sizes were piled up on the ground.

’I didn’t know carpentry back in The Upper Realm, but I’m very skilled at carving skulls. In this, at least, my hobby is the same as the other Javier Sinclair’s. Collecting skulls is one of my few hobbies as a Demon Cultivator.’

Spring gave way to winter.

Days turned into nights.

Year after year passed.

During this time, significant disturbances would periodically occur in The Forbidden Land. Dark clouds would gather and lightning would surge in the sky above its depths, and sometimes, a celestial phenomenon of golden lotuses blooming would appear. However, Javier Sinclair, who was standing guard outside, would wave his hand and shield it all from view, so the outside world saw nothing.

The Heavenly Tribulations that came with each of Celeste Grant’s major realm breakthroughs looked ferocious, but they were all thunder and no rain. They looked overwhelmingly powerful, as if the slightest misstep would lead to death. In reality, being inside the Heavenly Tribulation was very comfortable for her, like soaking in a hot spring. After breaking through, being baptized by the tribulation lightning would cause her body to undergo a qualitative transformation.

At first, seeing how ferocious the Heavenly Tribulation was, Javier Sinclair was afraid she wouldn’t be able to withstand it and wanted to intervene. But after seeing the tribulation lightning land on her and how comfortable she was, Javier Sinclair went from initial shock to eventual calmness.

’Even I didn’t expect there would be such benefits to having the Heavenly Dao as a father. No wonder the Children of Destiny and Daughters of Fortune in those novels, blessed by fate, could walk all over everyone—they were using cheats.’

It took her three years to break through from the Void Refinement Realm to the Integration Realm.

After that, it took her five years to break through from the Integration Realm to the Mahayana Realm. Such a Cultivation speed was nothing short of terrifying.

Thirty years after Celeste Grant entered seclusion, her Cultivation broke through to the Late-stage Tribulation Crossing realm. With her current Cultivation, she would be able to ascend to The Upper Realm in just a little more time.

Inside the cave.

Celeste Grant slowly opened her eyes. At that moment, currents of water swirled around her body, wreathed in Immortal Spirit Qi. With a single breath, she reined in her aura.

’Although I’ve been in closed-door Cultivation this whole time, I could sense that Javier Sinclair never left my side. Sometimes, if a problem arose with my Cultivation, he would immediately call out to me. A few times, Javier Sinclair even entered my Sea of the Primordial Spirit to guide my Cultivation, and... ahem... he also ’discussed’ dual cultivation with me. Best not to speak of it.’

’I should go out now.’

Celeste Grant rose from her meditative posture.

She waved her hand.

A Water Mirror appeared before her. Celeste Grant raised her eyes slightly, looking at the young female cultivator reflected within. She remained perfectly calm as she looked at the string of small red flowers atop the head in the reflection. The woman in the mirror looked just as composed.

So many years had passed, but her face hadn’t changed much. She still had fair skin, beautiful features, and a slender waist. If there was any real difference, it was a newfound maturity in her expression.

Now, nine small red flowers had bloomed on her head. Amidst the green leaves, the flowers looked dewy and full of life.

’This is my original body. The fact that I can still bloom flowers after returning to it is something even I can’t explain. It’s as if this Spirit Root isn’t just connected to my body, but is growing directly on my Primordial Spirit. That must be why it would still bloom, even if I were in a different body.’
