"Sneaking around! Who, me?"

"If it’s not you, is it me?"

Hearing him describe her as "sneaking around," Celeste Grant couldn’t help but laugh out loud. She patted his shoulder lightly. "Who’s sneaking around? Honestly, the things you say."

But it seemed that after losing his memory, he had become incredibly insecure. Celeste Grant cupped his face in her hands, her expression turning serious. It was time to start laying on the charm.

She called his name.

"Javier Sinclair."

His gaze shifted to her face.

Celeste Grant looked at him and said, "Javier Sinclair, you’re the only one in my heart, you know that? You’re my one and only, my darling husband. To me, everyone else is just a man or a woman. But you’re different. You’re the only one I love."

Darling husband.

My one and only.

After her barrage of sweet talk, Javier Sinclair glanced at her. The moment he met her bright eyes, his heart fluttered, and he couldn’t muster an ounce of anger. But he still said stubbornly, "You’re just trying to coax me. Don’t think I’ll fall for that act. You still haven’t told me why you took a picture of that guy!"

"Oh, that! The male Cultivator next door is looking for a Taoist Companion."

The moment she spoke, Javier Sinclair immediately blurted out, "So he has his eye on you."

As he spoke, he shot upright, his gaze turning dark and profound. "That guy has some nerve, daring to go after my wife. I’ll pulverize him."

Exasperated, Celeste Grant gently bumped her forehead against his. "What are you talking about! The man has never even met me. This is what happened. I was passing by today and decided to pop in. As it turns out, a Cultivator from next door came to our matchmaking service for Taoist Companions. His parents died young, and he’s been sickly his whole life. He wants to find a wife who is tall and has powerful Cultivation so she can protect him. That’s when I thought of Rook’s sister. They seem like a good match. So I thought I’d take a picture and send it to Mrs. Rook. She can show it to Daisy and ask if she’s interested. If she is, then problem solved, right?"

"Who’s Daisy?"

Javier Sinclair quickly ran through all the people he’d met in his mind. A brother and sister came to mind, Big Bear and Little Bear... ’No, that’s not it.’ It was Damon Grant and Daisy Grant from Bloodfury Hall. The siblings had offered him a toast before, so he had an impression of them.

"Ah, I remember now. Hearing you describe it, I agree they sound like a good match." ’As long as the guy isn’t after my wife,’ he thought, ’I couldn’t care less who marries whom.’

"Then..."

Javier Sinclair’s gaze snapped back to her face as a thought occurred to him. "Then why were you blushing when you were looking at his picture earlier? I saw it." He narrowed his eyes. "So it wasn’t him you were..."

Celeste Grant gave a small nod. "I certainly wasn’t blushing because of him. Don’t you already know who I think about when I blush?"

Javier Sinclair gritted his teeth.

"So you were thinking about your precious ’ex-husband’."

Hearing this, Celeste Grant’s mouth twitched.

’An awkward silence seemed to fall over the room.’ Sometimes, even brilliant people could say the stupidest things. That old saying really had some truth to it, and Javier Sinclair was living proof.

She let out a dry laugh. "Heh! Your logic is truly one of a kind. I feel like we’re never going to move on from this ’ex-husband’ business, are we?"

Javier Sinclair glanced at her, and then his eyes lit up as if he understood.

He grabbed her arm.

"Not the ex-husband... Then it was me."

Celeste Grant smiled.

"It was you. Of course, it was you."

He beamed.

He reached out and hugged her.

"I knew it! I knew your heart belongs to me, Celeste."

Celeste Grant rolled her eyes.

"You’re only just realizing that?"

’In her heart, there was only room for Javier Sinclair, and no other man. To Celeste Grant, it didn’t matter if one was male or female; if you truly loved someone, you had to be completely devoted. Someone who said ’I love you’ but was tangled up with another person was unacceptable, and that applied to everyone.’

He looked up at her, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he asked, "So, let me ask you... what exactly were you thinking about earlier that made you blush?"

At his question, Celeste Grant gave a strained laugh. "Why ask about that? That’s not something you get to know."

"But I insist on knowing."

Celeste Grant turned her head to the side.

"Get lost."

"No... Celeste, you have to tell me. What were you thinking about me...? C’mon, spare no details."

"Enough, you damn man."

Teasing her.

He clearly knew, but he asked anyway.

Celeste Grant placed a hand on his chest. "Javier Sinclair, I’ve been too easy on you, haven’t I?"

He looked up at her.

He watched as the corners of Celeste Grant’s lips curled upwards. Her gaze traveled from his face down to his chest, and her hand roamed over it. "Didn’t you want to know what I was thinking? Fine, I’ll tell you. I was thinking that other men are too scrawny; a strong gust of wind could probably blow them over. I much prefer my husband’s build. Devastatingly handsome, tall, long-legged... and those eight-pack abs. So easy to make you blush with just a touch. I’ve decided I definitely prefer your type. You just... do it for me."

Javier Sinclair’s face flushed and his heart hammered in his chest. He couldn’t meet her eyes any longer and quickly looked away. Blushing furiously, he slapped a hand over her mouth. "You brazen woman, you’ll say anything! Be quiet."

"You were the one who asked me to say it. And now that I have, you’re embarrassed."

Javier Sinclair wouldn’t admit it.

"I am not. It’s just a little hot in here."

Seeing how stubborn he was, Celeste Grant leaned in close, her arms wrapping around his neck. "Oh, really? My dear husband, you’re feeling hot? What kind of hot is it? A hot heart, or a hot face...?" Her voice dropped to a whisper in his ear. "Want me to help with that? I promise I can make you cool down real quick."

’What shockingly bold words.’

’At a time like this, if he could just sit there and do nothing, he wouldn’t be a man.’

Javier Sinclair snapped his fingers, and a Barrier materialized in the private room.

Seeing this, Celeste Grant froze and subconsciously placed her hands against his chest, shaking her head frantically.

"I was just talking big! This isn’t the right place."

He didn’t speak, but his actions proved that there was a price to pay for teasing him so carelessly.

Outside the window, the rain fell with a soft PITTER-PATTER.

Below, passersby were still walking along the street.

He held her close and kissed her.

With a sweep of his arm, he knocked the snacks from the table to the floor. He then lifted her up and sat her on the table of the private room.

With the Barrier in place, they wouldn’t be disturbed.

No one else could get in...

It wasn’t until evening that Javier Sinclair, carrying Celeste Grant in his arms, descended directly from the second-floor window.

Behind them, the room returned to its original state. Even the snacks were back on the table, as if the two had never been there at all.

At this hour, Bloodfiend City was brightly lit, with lanterns hanging all over the streets.

On the way back, Celeste Grant was draped over Javier Sinclair.

She grumbled under her breath.

"No more messing around like that. From now on, you can sleep on the floor."

Javier Sinclair merely raised an eyebrow.

He agreed readily.

"Mm, your husband will listen to everything you say."

Feeling the gazes of the passersby, Celeste Grant buried her face in his shoulder. ’There’s a saying,’ she thought, ’as long as you’re not the one who’s embarrassed, someone else will be. If I don’t look at them, I’m practically invisible.’

Seeing her get shy, Javier Sinclair lowered his head, a smile gracing his lips.

"So you do know how to be shy."

"Shut up! Let’s go home."

"As you wish, my wife."

As his words fell, the two of them vanished on the spot.
