Though they were just fragments, the memories couldn’t be fake. This meant the other Javier Sinclair truly was a manifestation of a wisp of his Primordial Spirit.

Perhaps because of this realization, Javier Sinclair’s gaze shifted to Celeste Grant. The moment their eyes met, images subconsciously flashed through his mind, as if from his own past experiences.

’Those images were...’

In a bamboo forest at night.

His large hand was clasped around the woman’s slender waist as he leaned down to kiss her.

Then, in a gloomy grand hall, a heavily pregnant woman had sought him out, speaking to him in a rage. "So you dare to do the deed but not take responsibility? The type to pull up your pants and deny everything? I’ve only ever been with you. If this child wasn’t yours, why would I come looking for you? You’re a leader of The Demonic Sects; why would I seek you out for no good reason?"

The images were too fragmented to piece together, but the woman in them was unmistakably Celeste Grant—his wife.

’He got angry just thinking about that other Javier Sinclair!’

’That useless former self, making Celeste suffer so much out there all alone and pregnant. She only came looking for him when she was about to give birth, and after she found him, he couldn’t even remember what he’d done. What a waste. I really want to give him a few slaps to vent some of her frustration.’

At this thought, Javier Sinclair reached out and gently stroked Celeste Grant’s hair, a pained look on his face. "Celeste, you’ve suffered. From now on, with me here, I won’t let you come to even the slightest harm."

"Huh?" Hearing this, Celeste Grant, who was standing beside him, glanced up and asked casually, "Are you okay? The way you’re looking at me is strange. Something’s not right... not right at all."

Javier Sinclair replied, "I was just thinking about something." He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, leaned in, and whispered, "A moment ago, when I was looking at you, some fragmented images appeared in my mind."

Hearing this, Celeste Grant froze for a moment and grabbed his sleeve. "Did you remember something?"

A hint of anticipation and surprise flickered in Celeste Grant’s eyes. ’Has he remembered?’

Ever since Javier Sinclair had returned to her side, he hadn’t been able to recall their past. But for Celeste Grant, all that mattered was that he had returned safely. It was okay if he didn’t remember. Of course, if he could recall the things they had experienced together, she would be delighted. After all, those were their shared experiences, their most important memories.

His gaze fell upon Celeste Grant’s face. Recalling the fragmented images from moments before, he gave a faint smile and said, "You were in those fragments. I saw you... coming to find me, heavily pregnant." He then lowered his head, leaned close to her ear, and added in a hushed voice, "And... in a bamboo forest."

Javier Sinclair said no more, only mentioning the bamboo forest.

The mention of it made Celeste Grant subconsciously recall their first meeting. The hazy moonlight, the rustling bamboo, the sky as their blanket and the earth as their bed... with seven or eight dead Evil Cultivators lying nearby. No matter how much time had passed, the memory of that scene remained fresh.

The memory made her blush, but more than that, she was happy. If Javier Sinclair could recall these fragments, it meant there was a good chance he would eventually remember everything that had happened between them.

"You remember that..."

She murmured softly and took his hand.

Seeing the smile on her face and the gentle look in her eyes, Javier Sinclair said softly, "I just remembered a little."

"That’s wonderful." Celeste Grant smiled at him. "There’s no rush. Let’s let nature take its course." She didn’t need him to remember everything; the way things were now was good enough. He was still the father of her child, and Javier Sinclair was still her husband. His feelings for her hadn’t changed.

Meeting her eyes, Javier Sinclair was momentarily lost in thought. ’Her bond with the other Javier Sinclair must have been very strong. Even knowing that man was, in fact, him, he couldn’t suppress a pang of jealousy. He wanted to separate himself from that other person.’

But seeing the happy, expectant look in her eyes, Javier Sinclair suddenly wanted to explore that past, to learn everything that had happened between the other him and her.

He reached out and pulled her into an embrace.

"I’ll do my best to remember."

Celeste Grant was rather surprised to hear this. He had always refused to admit he was the same Javier Sinclair from before, which was why she’d privately dubbed that past version of him her "ex." Now, he was tacitly admitting that he and the former Javier Sinclair were one and the same person.

Celeste Grant smiled faintly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Mm, take your time. I believe in you! My husband, it’s best to let things happen naturally. Even how things are now is wonderful. We’ll be together forever."

The two embraced, the atmosphere warm and tender. It would have been even better if a gigantic green centipede wasn’t coiled around the both of them.

The green centipede’s head poked forward. "Master, Mistress, I’ll always be with you, too." As it spoke, the centipede started to press closer.

However, Javier Sinclair’s hand shot out, blocking Sprout’s large head. With a casual grab, the gigantic centipede shrank until it was small enough to fit in his hand.

Javier Sinclair glanced down at his hand and said, "Since you can already take human form, you’re a mature centipede now. You’re a Cultivator. Your mistress is my wife, so stop trying to get so close to her. Otherwise, you’d better watch your hide."

The now chopstick-sized centipede crawled in a circle around Javier Sinclair’s hand, then craned its head and tilted it to look at him. Sprout’s little head bobbed up and down before it spoke in a human voice.

"Someone’s sounding jealous."

The moment Sprout said that, Javier Sinclair gritted his teeth, the tips of his ears flushing red. He shot a vicious glare at the creature in his hand and chuckled grimly. "I’m suddenly craving something a little different."

Sprout tilted its head in curiosity, then said, "What do you want to eat, Master? I can go hunt it down for you."

Hearing this, Javier Sinclair chuckled again and said lightly, "I suddenly feel like some charcoal-grilled centipede might be quite nice."

Sprout’s eyes went wide. "..."

In an instant, it dissolved into green smoke and vanished from his hand, reappearing on the ground not far away. A young boy with antennae now stood in its place, an expression that screamed ’I taste awful’ plastered on his face. "Master," he began, "why don’t you change your palate? I’m full of poison, so I don’t taste good."

Javier Sinclair’s expression was perfectly calm. "That’s fine. I’m immune to all poisons."

Sprout looked down at his own body with a look of heroic resignation. "If Master insists on trying, then I’ll cut off a piece for you."

’It’s just a piece,’ he thought. ’It’ll grow back after a few days of Cultivation anyway.’

Sprout was, after all, fiercely loyal to Javier Sinclair.

"Hahaha, charcoal-grilled centipede? Who are you trying to fool?" Celeste Grant, who had been watching from the side, couldn’t bear it any longer. She looped her arm through Javier Sinclair’s and said, "Sprout, don’t listen to his nonsense. Your master is just teasing you. Even if he did want to eat charcoal-grilled centipede, he certainly wouldn’t eat you."

Javier Sinclair added, "Mm, I was just scaring you."

Sprout patted his chest in relief. "Oh, good, that’s good. I thought Master’s amnesia had changed his tastes. But if you really do want to eat charcoal-grilled centipede, Master, I’ll go catch some for you right now."
