Chapter 375 - 373: You Are Also Our Daughter
After preparing the gifts, Celeste Grant went to visit her parents that afternoon.
She and Javier Sinclair sat in a carriage drawn by a Vermilion, flying from the skies above the Bloodfiend Den to Bloodfiend City. Not far from the carriage, her son sat sideways on the back of a White Tiger, flying alongside them.
Aaron Sinclair was currently eating nuts, tossing a handful toward the Vermilion from time to time. The flying Vermilion then opened its mouth and ate them all, shells and all.
’So good, so very good.’
The Vermilion sounded cheerful.
’What is Master feeding me? It’s really delicious.’
The Vermilion spoke in a human tongue, "Master, these nuts are incredible! This one is even milk-flavored. I love it! Quick, give me some more."
Aaron Sinclair tossed her another handful. "Good, right? They’re a specialty from my mother’s world. I ordered two hundred thousand boxes straight from the factory when I came over, so there’s more than enough to go around. You missed out because you were away cultivating. I’ll set some aside for you later."
"You’re so kind, Master."
As they spoke, the group had already arrived in Bloodfiend City.
The Vermilion-drawn carriage slowly descended, coming to a stop before the gates of a large estate.
This was the Grant family home.
Sitting in the carriage, Celeste Grant looked up at the familiar sight before her. ’I’m actually a little nervous.’ She had never told Mr. and Mrs. Grant the truth and wondered if they would resent her for it. But the thought of how kind they had always been put her at ease. Just then, the eyes of the guards at the Grant family gate lit up at the commotion. One of them had already recognized Celeste and her party.
"It’s the Young Mistress and Master Sinclair!"
"Quick, go inform the Young Master that the Young Mistress and her party have returned."
"Yes."
The Grant family servants hurried forward and bowed.
"Greetings, Master Sinclair. Greetings, Young Mistress, and Little Master."
The guard who went to make the announcement was beaming. He had been with the Grant family for a long time and knew that the master and madam missed their eldest daughter more than anything. The moment he saw Celeste and her party, he had rushed off to deliver the news.
"Master, Madam! The Young Mistress and Master Sinclair have returned!"
"Master, Madam, the Young Mistress and her family are back!"
The moment Celeste arrived, her parents sensed her presence.
The two of them shot out of the house like a gust of wind, their figures flashing past the announcing guard in the blink of an eye. The guard only felt a breeze sweep past him.
He scratched his head.
The next moment, he saw someone flying over from a short distance away.
The figure flew directly over his head.
It was the family’s young master, Charlie Grant, the Young Mistress’s younger brother. He missed his sister dearly and had given special instructions to be notified immediately if she returned while he was out.
Meanwhile, back at the main gate of the Grant estate, Celeste had just stepped down from the carriage when her parents appeared in the doorway. The moment they saw her, their eyes instantly turned red.
"Celeste."
"My Celeste."
"It’s really you... you’re back. I thought you’d abandoned us."
Seeing them, a wave of emotion washed over Celeste, and tears welled in her eyes.
"Dad, Mom."
"I missed you so much, too."
With that, Celeste ran over and hugged them. "Dad, Mom... I’m home."
Mrs. Grant burst into tears.
She held her daughter close, stroking her hair and murmuring, "As long as you’re back... as long as you’re back... You foolish child, gone for so long without a word of news. We heard you went to another world... I thought I’d never see you again."
"We’ve finally got you back," Mr. Grant said, wiping tears from his own reddened eyes. "You child, you worried us to death. Why did you only come back now? Your mother and I have been waiting. Your brother and sister have been waiting for you to come home, too."
He recalled when the Cultivation World was in peril. His daughter and son-in-law had faced grave danger, saving the world and making great sacrifices. But as parents, all they had wanted was for their two children to be safe.
He remembered when their daughter had suddenly not been their daughter anymore. Mr. and Mrs. Grant had been stunned, but they eventually accepted the situation. When they learned the truth, it didn’t change how they felt. To them, it was simply a matter of having two daughters instead of one.
She was still their beloved daughter; that would never change. Both Celeste Grant, standing before them now, and Mandy, who had returned, were their own flesh and blood.
Celeste hugged her parents again.
She pulled back to look at them. "Dad, Mom, have you been well?"
Mr. and Mrs. Grant nodded emphatically.
"Yes, we’re both doing well."
Looking at the woman before her, Celeste hugged her again. "Mom... do you still want me?"
At these words, tears streamed down Mrs. Grant’s face, and her heart ached. ’So that’s what this child was afraid of? That we wouldn’t want her? How could that be possible?’ She hugged her and cried. "Silly child, such a silly child. You’ll always be our daughter. How could I ever not want you?"
Mr. Grant was heartbroken. "What are you talking about, child? You’re your father’s whole world. How could I ever not want you? Is that why you didn’t come home? You silly, silly girl."
She lifted her head from her mother’s shoulder and reached out to take her hand. Thinking of how she had taken over their daughter’s body, Celeste said, "Dad... Mom... I never told you. I’m so sorry."
"You came to us from another world to be our daughter. It was fate. Heaven destined us to be a family," Mrs. Grant said, patting her shoulder gently. "What is there to be sorry for? Silly child, it’s not your fault. We already know everything that happened. We should be the ones thanking you. You protected us all this time, and you even avenged Mandy. It’s because of you that she had the chance to be reborn. She is our daughter, and so are you. You are both my daughters."
Mr. Grant nodded. "That’s right. You and Mandy are both our children."
Mandy was the female supporting character from the book—the original Celeste Grant. Now, she had been reborn and her name changed to Manuel Grant. Celeste Grant and Manuel Grant... the names, side-by-side, clearly marked them as sisters.
Sensing not a hint of distance from them, that they were just the same as before, Celeste smiled.
’Yes! This is my family.’
’My family in this world.’
"Yes," she said. "We’ll always be a family."
As they were speaking, a figure appeared nearby. He was a boy of about eleven or twelve, dressed in green robes. His face was youthful and gentle, giving him an air as warm and smooth as jade.
’Another handsome young man.’
It was her younger brother, Charlie Grant.
"Sister."
Seeing him, Celeste smiled and walked over.
"So handsome! Whose little brother is this?" she teased, reaching out to ruffle his hair. Charlie Grant smiled and looked up at her, a little bashful. "Sister, you’re finally back. We all missed you so much."
Celeste looked at him. "You’ve gotten taller." She took a moment to assess his power—her little brother was now at the Late Stage of Golden Core. "Not bad. Keep up your Cultivation."
Just then, Javier Sinclair finally stepped forward. "Father-in-law, Mother-in-law. I am Javier Sinclair, your son-in-law."
Mr. and Mrs. Grant looked at him, confused. ’What’s with the explanation? Wasn’t he our son-in-law before?’
