Chapter 468 - 466: He’s Really Not Flirting with Me
The next moment, Celeste Grant saw a low table appear before her. On it was a large platter laden with all sorts of barbecue—grilled Spiritual Medicines, vegetables, and various meats. Beside it sat a bottle of cola brought from the Lower Realm.
At the mere sight of it, Celeste Grant felt drool shamelessly trickle from the corner of her mouth.
"Th-this... It’s barbecue! And cola!"
’This is it. This is exactly what I’ve been craving.’
Come to think of it, she hadn’t eaten anything like this in a very long time. Lately, everything had tasted bland. Even when faced with exotic delicacies, she had no appetite. But now, seeing this spread, she felt like she could devour it all.
She looked at Javier Sinclair. "Did you grill all this?"
’After all, no one here in Caeloria even knows what barbecue is. So if it’s here, he must have grilled it himself.’
Javier Sinclair sat primly beside her, his hand resting casually on his thigh.
He looked a little bashful. Glancing at the barbecue on the table, Javier Sinclair said, "You mentioned a couple of days ago that everything tasted bland. See if you like any of this. This is the kingdom I have conquered for you."
Hearing this, she looked at the barbecue and couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Hahaha! You’ve really gone to great lengths, my dear Archfiend. I was wondering where you’d disappeared to all day. So you went off to make me barbecue."
Javier Sinclair said softly, "Mm. And don’t say I’m not good to you. This is your surprise. It’s much better than flowers. Go on, eat."
Celeste Grant rolled her eyes at him and muttered, "Old Fiend Sinclair, sometimes you’re much better when you don’t talk. I was actually quite touched for a moment there, but as soon as you opened your mouth, I just wanted to smack you. Still... this surprise really did hit the spot." She leaned in and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Thank you, my dear husband. I love you."
He was overjoyed, but he had to keep his composure.
"Hmph. As long as you know. Not just anyone can make me go to such lengths. Only you receive this kind of treatment."
He had sent people out at dawn to hunt the freshest ingredients, then personally prepared them, cutting the most tender portions to grill for her. The effort had left him reeking of greasy smoke, and it took using the Cleaning Technique twice to finally get rid of the smell.
Celeste Grant leaned in closer to him, smiling.
"What kind of treatment?"
Javier Sinclair gently poked her forehead with two fingers and said, "The treatment befitting my wife, of course."
He gestured to the table. "It’s best hot. Hurry up and eat."
"Thanks. Don’t mind if I do, then."
Celeste Grant poured herself a glass of cola, took a sip, and immediately grabbed a skewer to eat.
She took a bite of meat.
Delicious.
The seasonings must have been brought from the Lower Realm, too, because the taste was just as she remembered. He’d controlled the heat perfectly; it was grilled just right.
One skewer after another, she ate her way through the vegetables, the meat, and even the Spiritual Medicines, taking a sip of cola now and then.
Even though she was a cultivator,
she felt that at this moment, *this* was the life.
Seeing him just sitting there, Celeste Grant glanced at him. "Why aren’t you eating? Eat with me." She smiled, picked up a skewer, and held it to his lips. "Or are you saying you want me to feed you, darling?"
He opened his mouth and took a bite from the skewer in her hand, then picked up one for himself and started eating.
Celeste Grant offered a few words of praise. "Javier Sinclair, you’ve really mastered the heat for this barbecue. It’s grilled perfectly."
He chuckled lightly. "Is there anything I can’t do? A mere barbecue is hardly a challenge. It’s so easy, anyone with hands could do it."
Celeste Grant scoffed. "Javier Sinclair, I give you one little compliment and you’re already getting cocky. You’re such a narcissist."
Javier Sinclair: "It’s not narcissism, it’s a fact of my abilities."
"Right, right, you’re incredibly capable. Strong in every aspect."
Hearing this, Javier Sinclair raised an eyebrow, leaned closer, and murmured, "Is that so? It seems my dear Celeste is very satisfied with her husband." His words were heavy with innuendo.
Celeste Grant froze for a second before she realized what he meant. Blushing, she turned her gaze away.
"Javier Sinclair, you’re shameless."
He put on an innocent face.
"Did I say something? My dear wife, you must be overthinking things."
Celeste Grant let out a dry laugh.
"Fine. You just wait."
She gave him a playfully menacing look. "Tonight, I’m locking you up."
Javier Sinclair’s hand froze.
’Truth be told, he was actually looking forward to it a little.’
「That night」
True to his anticipation, after washing up, Javier Sinclair was already reclining on the bed, dressed only in his inner robes.
When she approached, he lifted his gaze to her. "Come here, wife."
Celeste Grant just glanced at him.
’Fuck,’ she couldn’t help but curse internally.
’This... this damn man. Was he *really* not trying to seduce her?’
However, Celeste Grant’s eyes fell on his partially exposed chest and the single layer of his inner robes. It was even more enticing than if he’d been wearing nothing at all.
She walked to the edge of the bed.
’If she didn’t do something at a time like this, she wouldn’t be a woman.’
She climbed onto the bed, bracing a hand on the mattress beside him.
Her gaze fell upon his handsome face, and she smiled faintly. "Husband, this look of yours... it’s really something." ’This just goes to show that good looks are a power in themselves,’ she thought. ’All he has to do is lie there, and it’s pure seduction.’
She lowered her head and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
Just then, she felt a hand tighten around her waist. In the next instant, their positions were reversed. Before she could speak, Javier Sinclair had already leaned down and captured her lips with his.
The bed curtains fell, sealing them in for what was destined to be a sleepless night.
「In the blink of an eye, half a month had passed」
By now, their daughter had visibly grown a little more.
Their daughter was now two months old.
Having spent all her time taking care of the baby, now that she was a bit older, Celeste Grant decided it was time to find something for herself to do.
Just as Celeste Grant was thinking that being idle was still being idle and considering starting a new Chapter for herself here in Caeloria, Third Elder Silas Reed brought some news. It was about Jocelyn Grant’s mother.
Celeste Grant had previously asked the Third Elder to keep a private eye on the woman’s movements. ’I haven’t even gone looking for trouble with her yet,’ she thought, ’and here she is, stirring it up herself.’
The Third Elder began his report. "Madam, for some time now, that woman and her family have been secretly making inquiries about you. Also, according to our spies in the field, the Warren Family, who are based in a remote region, have been acting quite brazenly lately. It seems they have powerful backing. They’ve subjugated all the surrounding local families, killing any who refused to submit."
After a moment’s thought, she continued, "Furthermore, the Warren Family appears to have allied with two major powers from the Immortal Domain, and they all seem to be working for a single individual. Among those close to the Warren Family are Sancthelm and the Azuremyst Sect. We don’t know what their objective is, but could they be planning to move against our Demonic Domain?"
Celeste Grant raised an eyebrow slightly.
She mulled over the Third Elder’s words.
’The Warren Family, Eve Warren’s clan, is just an insignificant power in Caeloria. For them to suddenly form ties with two major powers from the Immortal Domain... this couldn’t be as simple as Eve Warren having an affair with an elder from each of those factions.’
