Chapter 420 - 418: Using a Dragon Tendon as a Jump Rope, He’s a Daughter Slave
A pearly white Dragon Tendon floated in the air, golden runes flowing slowly along its length. In just a moment, he had refined it into a rope that could change its size, one that had been specially woven. At one end of the rope hung a golden tassel and a small Jade Token.
Red patterns were entwined around the pearly white jump rope, and golden runes floated on its surface. It was a specially woven rope that could be used as a Magic Treasure or for jumping rope—killing two birds with one stone.
Javier Sinclair nodded slightly, looking quite satisfied.
He extended his hand.
The jump rope refined from the Dragon Tendon landed in his palm.
’It looks pretty good,’ he thought. ’I just wonder if my future daughter will like it.’ At the thought, he found himself feeling a little expectant.
He opened his hand, and the Dragon Tendon in his palm passed through the void, vanishing into the river of time.
「Meanwhile.」
Celeste Grant sensed a disturbance in the void. Before she could react, a coil of rope appeared on the bed beside her.
The rope was beautifully woven. Celeste Grant stared at it, slightly stunned. ’Is this... a jump rope? It definitely looks like a jump rope, but it’s shimmering with colorful light, and runes are flowing across it. The aura of this rope is powerful, ancient, and profound, as if it has been tempered by the ages.’
She could tell at a glance that this was no ordinary rope. As she was staring blankly, a voice came from the Ancient Mirror.
It was Javier Sinclair’s voice.
He was heard saying, "That’s the Dragon Tendon from before. It’s just right for our daughter to use as a jump rope."
Though it seemed he had sent it over casually, in reality, this rope had traversed endless ages, traveling through the river of time for over fifteen thousand years to reach Celeste Grant’s side.
The moment he said this, Celeste Grant froze for a second, then her eyes widened in realization. "Are you saying this is the Dragon Tendon you just extracted? Aren’t you fifteen thousand years in the past? How did you send it here?"
He replied, "I am capable of it."
"Wow, you’re amazing."
She was being serious.
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to the coil of rope beside her. It really did look like a jump rope. ’I have to admit,’ she thought, ’the Demon God Javier Sinclair has finally moved past his aesthetic taste for skulls. This jump rope is truly exquisite and beautiful. Any little girl would absolutely love it.’
She placed the Ancient Mirror in the air before her and tugged on the rope. "It feels great in my hands. You really can’t tell this used to be a Dragon Tendon. Using a Dragon Tendon as a jump rope... you truly live up to the name of a Demon God father. This is so extravagant." She laughed as she swung the Dragon Tendon jump rope in her hand.
"I received the jump rope. It’s beautiful."
"When our daughter is born, she’ll definitely love it."
He gave a soft hum of agreement.
After a moment of silence, he added, "Take care of yourself."
"I will."
Afterward, Celeste Grant studied the Dragon Tendon from all angles. Feeling that she had learned a lot, she finally put it away safely.
Then she started chatting with him again.
Holding the Mysterious Ancient Mirror in one hand, she rested her other hand on her knee, propping up her cheek. "Javier Sinclair, let me ask you something. We’re meeting now, but in the future, when you see me, will you still remember this? If you have these memories, that would be incredible. Wouldn’t that form a kind of closed loop?"
She paused, then quickly shook her head. "No, that doesn’t feel right either. After I met you in the future, you didn’t seem to have these memories. Maybe this never really happened, or perhaps I truly did just accidentally use a Divine Artifact to see you in a past time period."
There was no response from the other side.
Silence.
It was very quiet.
After a while, there was still no sound.
Celeste Grant held the Ancient Mirror up to her face and couldn’t help but ask, "Javier Sinclair, are you still there? Hey, husband... my baby’s daddy."
After she called out a few times, a voice finally came from the Ancient Mirror.
"I’m listening. Go on."
Hearing his voice, Celeste Grant grinned. "Hehe... I thought you were gone! What do you think about the situation I just described?"
A voice came from the Ancient Mirror. He said, "If we have met, then this memory must exist. If the future me doesn’t have this memory, there is only one possibility: my Primordial Spirit is in a state of self-seal."
Celeste Grant paused, raising an eyebrow slightly. She couldn’t resist asking, "A state of self-seal for your Primordial Spirit? What does that mean?"
Before Celeste Grant could ponder it further, his voice came from the Ancient Mirror. "Don’t ask what you shouldn’t know. Knowing too much would not be a good thing for the future you."
His words were clearly a warning.
Celeste Grant understood instantly.
’His time is the past, and my time is the present. If something went wrong in the past and changed things, then my present would surely change along with it.’
Thinking of this, Celeste Grant nodded and said, "I understand. Let’s talk about something else then."
"Mm."
Hearing his response, Celeste Grant didn’t press the issue and changed the subject. "Javier Sinclair, this Mysterious Ancient Mirror of yours... how do I use it correctly? When I first activated it, I was originally trying to find my husband." She paused, then couldn’t help muttering, ’Why does that sound so strange? It makes me sound like a two-timing woman, eating from one bowl while eyeing another.’
Celeste Grant’s words were transmitted clearly to the other side. Hearing her, Javier Sinclair’s expression stiffened, and the corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.
He let out a soft scoff.
His deep voice came through.
"Eating from one bowl while eyeing another... you certainly have a clear definition of yourself."
Celeste Grant smiled and waved her hand dismissively. "I was just talking. In reality, I’m a very loyal woman. I’m fairly traditional; once I’ve chosen someone, I’m committed. Since I chose to become your Taoist Companion, it doesn’t matter what your status is or how you change. The past you, the future you, the present you—as long as you haven’t been possessed, you’re my husband. So I won’t treat any version of you differently."
’Why does saying it like that make me sound even more like a cheater?’ The thought made her laugh. "That’s not important. You just need to know that you’re my husband from the past. In any case, you and I will be a very loving couple in the future."
Javier Sinclair: "..."
’Should I thank her for that?’
On the other side of the Ancient Mirror, Javier Sinclair stood in silence.
The two of them continued to talk.
Time passed without them noticing. Although it was mostly Celeste Grant doing the talking, having him there to listen was quite nice.
Celeste Grant was still asking about this and that.
She was heard asking, "Husband, as the Demon God, what do you do all day?"
"Guard The Demon Realm."
"Every single day?"
"Yes."
"What a tedious life."
"Yes. I’ve disappointed you."
"How could you say that? I just feel bad for you. It’s a shame I’m so far away, or I’d definitely go keep you company."
