He spoke in a light, calm tone, as if discussing something perfectly ordinary. Seeing him so composed, Celeste Grant relaxed. It’s true what they say: no one knows you better than yourself. So if he said he was fine, then he must really be fine.

With that thought, Celeste Grant was finally able to relax.

"Well, that puts my mind at ease."

"If you hadn’t said anything, I’d have been worried sick since I didn’t know what was going on."

In the Ancient Mirror, Javier Sinclair’s gaze fell on Celeste Grant’s face. Seeing her look of relief, he felt a strange sense of displeasure. A sour feeling welled up in his heart. ’This woman just kissed me not long ago, and now all her attention is on my future self.’

Feeling relieved, she looked into the Ancient Mirror and couldn’t help but say, "Thank you, Javier Sinclair."

He paused, looking away slightly. "Can you tell me how you two met?"

Hearing this, Celeste Grant smiled and glanced at him. "Oh? The Demon God is curious about that? Don’t tell me you’re starting to like me and want to get to know me better."

The Demon God Javier Sinclair’s cheeks flushed slightly, but he insisted, "It’s not like that. You’re overthinking it. I was just asking." His voice was calm, betraying no emotion, but his hand, which was in the middle of a chess move, faltered, placing a piece right on one of the grid lines. He picked it up with a straight face, then waved his hand to clear the board and start over.

Celeste Grant arched an eyebrow, a smile dancing in her eyes. "Really? Nothing at all? How disappointing. And here I thought the great Demon God was starting to care about me." After a slight pause, she added, "Or could it be... you’re still thinking about when I kissed you?"

The piece in his hand clattered onto the board.

"What nonsense are you spouting?"

He spoke,

his face burning red.

Celeste Grant burst out laughing at the sight.

"Alright, if you want to know, I’ll tell you. It all started when I read a cheesy cultivation novel... then this happened, and then that happened... you know how it goes..." Celeste Grant then gave him a condensed version of everything that had happened since she’d crossed over into the Cultivation World.

She spoke earnestly, and on the other side of the Ancient Mirror, Javier Sinclair listened intently. She told him everything, right up until she sacrificed herself for all living beings, only to be saved by the future Javier Sinclair. But his body couldn’t withstand his own Divine Power and disintegrated. And finally, how he returned, but with amnesia, unable to remember her, though their connection wasn’t affected by his memory loss.

She glanced at Javier Sinclair and said, "So, Archfiend, what do you think after hearing all that?"

After she finished, his deep voice drifted from the Ancient Mirror.

"Your life has been quite eventful."

"Right? I think so too," she said with a laugh. "I used to be the villainess, you know, so I’m pretty vicious. I kept pounding on the original heroine until she was dead and gone."

"Let me tell you..." As she started to speak, she suddenly found herself in The Demon God’s arms. She froze, the sudden shift not registering for a moment. Then she looked down and realized she was straddling his lap.

She looked up slightly, her eyes meeting a pair of golden irises and the stunned gaze of Javier Sinclair. "How did I end up here again? Was this your doing?"

The moment she spoke, she knew it wasn’t him. ’So I came here on my own? How is that possible? How did I even get here? One second I was talking to him, the next I’m in his lap.’

He replied, "Well, if you didn’t do it, are you suggesting I pulled you here?"

Celeste Grant scratched her head. "But we’re separated by fifteen thousand years. I got here in the blink of an eye. Does that make any sense? Is that even possible?"

Javier Sinclair said nothing. He simply reached out, grabbed her wrist, and moved it aside. "There’s something off about you."

Seeing him staring, Celeste Grant rolled her eyes at him. "What could be off about me? Other than the fact that I can sprout flowers from my head, what’s so different?"

Javier Sinclair looked her up and down.

"It disappeared again."

His sudden comment left Celeste Grant looking puzzled. "What disappeared again?"

He replied, "The mysterious power you have."

Javier Sinclair had sensed it the last time she appeared, but it was faint and had vanished in an instant. The same thing happened this time, only it was a little clearer.

"Mysterious power? What’s that?"

Celeste Grant looked down at herself, then raised her hands to inspect them. She was certain she couldn’t feel a thing. "You’re saying I have some kind of mysterious power? Me? Are you sure you’re not mistaken? Don’t tell me I have some secret identity I don’t even know about. Like, what if I’m the real rich daughter who was switched at birth, and the fake one is out there living it up with my identity? Or maybe I have super-powerful biological parents who will find me after all these years, and we’ll have a big, tearful reunion after they discover I’ve been wandering all alone."

She started cracking up as she spoke. "Haha, no way. Absolutely impossible. This isn’t a novel; life isn’t that cliché."

Javier Sinclair glanced at her.

"So, what does any of that have to do with your mysterious power?"

Celeste Grant was silent.

She frowned slightly. "Do I really have this mysterious power you’re talking about?"

Javier Sinclair said flatly, "I am fifteen thousand years in the past from you, yet you came here in an instant. That’s time travel. Do you think any ordinary cultivator could do that?"

Celeste Grant fell silent.

’Of course, she knew that an ordinary cultivator couldn’t possibly do something like this—travel through time so easily. Even a supremely powerful being would have to pay a steep price. And yet, she had done it as easily as drinking a cup of water, without feeling the slightest discomfort.’

"I don’t know what’s going on either," she said, reaching out to grab his sleeve. She asked curiously, "Well, do you know what this power in my body is? What kind of power is it? Will it hurt me?"

’She was always wary of the unknown, afraid someone had used some trick on her. The first person that came to mind was that mother of Jocelyn Grant’s in the Immortal Domain. Could she have done something to me? Is she just waiting for me to ascend so she can kill me? But then again, that seems impossible. This kind of power is beyond the abilities of any cultivator.’

As if he’d read her mind.

Javier Sinclair said, "No one has tampered with you. That power comes from within you. It’s as if it’s been a part of you since birth, fused with your very being."

His words...

only made Celeste Grant more confused, a probing look entering her eyes. She frowned. "What in the world is going on?" ’Thinking about how she could sprout flowers from her head, she figured maybe she really wasn’t like other people.’

’Oh well, forget it!’

’I’ll find out when I’m meant to know.’
