Chapter 1803: The Dark War (5)
Kinkade, one of the Generals in the Jian Great Family, feared throughout the Western Supreme Galaxy for his ruthlessness, never expected that today he would be dying at the hands of a demigod whose attack came without him even sensing a hint.
It felt like time conspired against him, dying when he shouldn’t have.
When Patriarch Han Jian commanded him to kill Kent, he thought inwardly how much he was being looked down on by being asked to kill a mere demigod.
In his eyes, another demigod would be enough to do the work, or perhaps a god if they had to be sincere with themselves.
Obviously, he failed to register the carnage Kent had already caused in the form of thousands of mutilated bodies of Dark Fiends lying strewn across the battlefield.
So perhaps he didn’t see Kent as a danger. But then he moved, and what awaited him was a large sword formed from blood.
He managed to defend against it; however, as if he had been pulled through time, he sensed a danger coming from the distant past, arriving right when he clashed with the large blood sword.
Honestly, he didn’t see Kent fire an arrow. But at that moment, a deadly arrow formed from Evil Qi and Ice Qi stabbed him through the forehead, leaving his head frozen solid as life slipped out of his body.
Not even his Celestial Soul managed to detach from his body. The arrow killed both his body and soul. For a moment, he regretted not taking Kent seriously.
But he had long died, and five seconds into the future, Kent stood with a smirk on his face, everyone wondering where the arrow had gone.
"What just happened?" another General with the aura of a Celestial Monarch asked, looking at Kent holding perhaps the most elegant bow he had ever seen in his life.
"Maybe he missed," another person said.
"But how is that possible? He never even pointed the arrow at Kinkade, yet somehow he was killed." Five seconds was all it took for Kent to kill him and for them to register his death.
But that was enough to send chills down their spines, sweat breaking out across their foreheads.
Han Jian, who had given the command for Kinkade to attack, was left stunned, not expecting things to end this way. He had hoped that Kinkade would be able to kill the annoying brat grinning at them.
But now reality had finally set in, making him aware that the demigod brat smiling at them was a much bigger threat than anything or anyone they had faced before.
For a moment, he panicked. However, he recovered and realized he had more than enough manpower to take down this bug.
However, before he could make a move, which Kent knew would overwhelm him, he unleashed one of his superpowers... stalling.
"I have to ask, but why did you choose to side with the Dark Empress? I know you have already denied she is the Dark Empress, but humour me. What do you see in her that made you want to side with her?" Kent asked, knowing he wouldn’t be getting an answer.
But he didn’t mind. After all, he wasn’t stalling because he was an expert. He decided to stall because, long before the Jian Family forces arrived, he had already deployed runes aimed at messing with the mind.
Kevin Sage wasn’t known solely for his problem-solving abilities. He was someone proficient in the use of arcane runes.
Come to think of it, Kevin Sage might just be the most versatile of all Kent’s incarnations. He was one of the best alchemists to walk the face of the universe.
He was also a scholar with extensive knowledge across many fields.
He was also the legendary White Knight, who dominated many battlefields and even led the charge against the Ice Demons.
But while doing all that, he was also mastering arcane runes on the side. In fact, now that he was using them, Kent couldn’t help but see this side of him as the most dangerous.
After all, he could, on a whim, conjure runes with a mere thought. That kind of mastery over runic magic was unheard of. So while he was known as an alchemist, his other identities were those of legendary figures.
Today, he knew he had to buy time.
He was strong enough to face Celestials, but even a Primordial would become overwhelmed when hundreds of Celestials came at them at the same time.
So he wanted to buy himself some time and hopefully prevent the Dark Empress from escaping. If he unleashed his true power, he might be able to prevent himself from being overwhelmed.
But he might lose his only chance to catch the Dark Empress off guard.
So he activated the runes, and without Han Jian even being aware, his mind was being influenced as Kent spoke.
"In case you are not aware, then let me tell you what she and her people had done during the Dark Era. Back then, many thought the Ruthless Bandit was the most evil person in the universe. However, that thought changed when the Dark Creatures came.
They killed without any reservation, spreading chaos and mayhem everywhere. Many heroes rose to prevent them from swallowing all life. However, as you already know, many died, and many were permanently scarred.
All this happened simply because some people wanted the universe brought to its knees, but they didn’t have the balls to do it themselves.
Then here you are, standing with no shame, siding with the Empress of all Dark Creatures. Have you no shame, huh, Han Jian? Don’t you have a conscience to at least consider the pain these creatures have caused and turn your weapon on them?"
His words, as he knew, were falling on deaf ears. However, the influence of his Mind Runes was doing its work, causing Han Jian and his men to listen to him.
Kent checked the time till awakening... ’Five more minutes.’
He sighed and tapped into the narrative again. However, just when he was about to add more context, a spear came from nowhere, appearing before him in an instant.
Kent was too late to activate the Chaos Scale Shield, so he did the next best thing...
BOOM
His fist smashed into the spear, and at once, the flesh on his fist peeled off, revealing golden-blue bones. However, while he managed to defend against the spear, his body was pushed back several kilometers before he stabilized.
"SNAP OUT OF IT, LOSERS!" the Spider Dark Queen shouted, and at once, the hypnotic feeling that had overwhelmed Han Jian and his men cleared.
She extended her hand, and the spear flew back into it. The spear was made of bone, just like her hands. In her demi-human form, she had a skeletal body with spider-like appendages protruding from her back.
Wavy white hair fell down her back, and her ruby-like blue eyes shone with malice.
Han Jian, who sensed what had happened, gritted his teeth and was about to attack when the Spider Dark Queen raised her spear.
"Leave him to me. But be prepared to fight his reinforcements when they get here. I think he wanted to buy time, but I will kill him before they arrive."
She vanished from where she stood, and the next second, she was before Kent, her spear stabbing toward his chest. Kent smirked, then summoned a dagger, activating the Faceless Assassin Class.
Suddenly, darkness enveloped them as a fierce battle began inside the Faceless Shadow Realm.
