Chapter 1857: Amon’s Guillotine Cave (7)
"We are almost there," Inaya said, deflecting an attack from a Blood Monkey with the blade of her sword. The monkey didnt falter and quickly moved, and its tail, which is many times longer than its body, whipped from behind it, coming in for yet another attack.
But before it could arrive, Inaya had already moved away, circling around the monkey. Just as its tail struck nothing, a red light mixed with black flames, filled with so much sword intent, flashed out, landing on the monkey’s side.
A deep wound was cut into its body, and the impact sent it flying several kilometers away.
Inaya dissolved into the chaos, choosing not to go after it, not when she had already injured it severely.
She appeared in the distance, her sword carving arcs in the air.
Looking deeper into the Blood Variant Pool, she could see a team of four coming toward them, each a powerful warrior. Of course, she had no idea this team was initially five, but one had been killed.
Well, even if she did, the mere fact that they were coming toward them told Inaya one of two things...
First, they were either on the same mission as them or they were here to kill them. The ashy tattoos on their foreheads told her they were from the Ash Maiden.
So maybe they were here for them, or worse, for both reasons. But she couldn’t afford to think of that just yet... the Blood Monkeys weren’t going anywhere, and the closer they got to where they would plant the Teleportation Rune, the fiercer the attacks became.
Looking to the side and seeing Baldy and Han fighting the monkeys, she smiled. ’Good thing they came with me, else I would have had it hard this time around.’
She had lived here for a few eras, but most of that time was spent sleeping. She hadn’t really discovered much of the danger here.
But today, she was seeing and experiencing it firsthand, which, from her expression, showed she had to hurry before they found themselves besieged by beings they couldn’t afford to handle.
They kept pushing forward, using every ounce of their power.
But then something happened, and Inaya’s biggest fear came true.
Just as they were 200 meters away from the location, a red portal flared, and a lone figure holding a blood-dripping broadsword stepped out, causing the very ground beneath them to turn into blood.
At once, Inaya and her team felt their bodies tense, their muscles tighten, and every ounce of strength in them drain.
On the other side, the four teammates kept pushing forward, breaching the 100-meter mark from where they would also plant the rune.
Inaya gritted her teeth and looked up, meeting the gaze of the person who had stopped them. The person had long red hair, flawless red skin, and eyes like red gems.
She was beautiful, with well-defined bone structure and breasts barely contained within her sexy armor. What was even more alluring about her was the red fox tail billowing behind her.
This clearly showed she was a foxkin, and a Blood-type foxkin at that.
For a moment, she appeared more seductive than dangerous. However, Mak, who liked the company of women, wasn’t turned on even by her looks.
That was because he had met Damba, and the same danger he felt from him, this lady also gave off. But what was even more chilling was that she didn’t have the same cultivation base as Damba.
This lady was a Pseudo-Primordial, yet her danger level was at Damba’s level or perhaps even higher.
For a moment, the air hung heavy. Then the lady spoke, and Inaya’s eyes widened.
"I am Ruby. It’s a pleasure to finally meet the Ten Emotions Sword Supreme," she said with a gentle bow. Then the pressure around them vanished, and all three of them could finally breathe.
"You know who I am?" Inaya asked after catching her breath.
"I do. I have read about you so much that I know every little thing about you ever recorded," she smiled and took one step forward, causing the blood on the ground to part and allowing her slender legs to step onto the bare earth.
Inaya and her two teammates narrowed their eyes, not underestimating this lady at all.
She simply smiled and said, "I came from the Infinity Universe, same as you. However, back when I lived there, I was a member of the Hell Devastators, a team formed and led by the legendary Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith."
Inaya’s eyes widened, causing Ruby to realize that she knew who that person was.
"So you know about the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith," she asked, and Inaya nodded.
"Who doesn’t know about such a legendary warrior? His legends are simply out of this world, so you can say I am a huge fan."
Of course, she wasn’t lying. Kent was her husband, and since he had been the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith, she could boldly say she knew him better than anyone.
But she would also be lying to some extent because, while both she and her sisters were aware that Kent was once the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith, they didn’t really know much about that life.
She knew more about his second incarnation as Lord Genesis, but not much about his life as the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith or any of his other incarnations.
Still, Ruby was pleased to hear someone remember her leader and master, the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith.
"It is good to see that someone still remembers my leader. That said, why are you here, and why did you choose to join forces with those two to kill me?"
Inaya, Mak, and Baldy widened their eyes, realization finally dawning on them. Before Inaya could reply, the rune she had been given flew out of her space ring and exploded, forming a green portal.
Two hundred meters away, the others carrying the Ash Maiden’s rune also stopped just as the rune exploded into an ashen portal. From within, the Ash Maiden flew out, bringing with her a terrifying pressure.
Inaya looked up at Damba and furiously asked, "Damba, you bastard, what is the meaning of this?"
