"There is one more thing I forgot to mention," Silas said. "Since I have ruined your marriage, I will compensate you with another bride. Because you helped the Tallis noble family deceive me at my wedding, I will give you the same bride that I have received before as a gift back to you." He tugged at the bound Leila on the ground and shoved her at Andre. Seeing the two, Silas could not help but let out a sneer. "Now one of you is a substitute, and the other is a waste, which is a match made in heaven."

Waste...?

Andre squeezed his fingers tightly, as if trying to grasp an invisible thread of hope, yet the well of mana in his magic core had run utterly dry. Every ounce of his energy had been expended, leaving him feeling hollow and defeated. A hoarse, low groan escaped his lips, a sound wrought from the depths of unbearable pain that clawed at his insides.

Beneath the fabric of his sleeves, his fingers dug into the wooden board because of humiliation and pain, and his nails were broken. The sharp edges of the splintering wood bit into his palms, and he could feel the sting of broken nails, each one a painful reminder of his failure, humiliation, and anguish.

Hate swept through his body in an instant, igniting every nerve ending and flooding his thoughts with an overwhelming darkness.

Silas...

The name echoed in his mind like a war cry, igniting the embers of rage buried deep within him.

"Cough, cough, cough—"

Andre coughed and opened his eyes. There was blood on his eyelids. In a trance, he saw Ellie being pushed over to him. They looked very similar...

Andre mumbled something, but as soon as he opened his lips, blood kept pouring out of his mouth. In the end, he fainted without saying a word. He was almost breathless and motionless, like a dead body.

Silas gave a quick glance at Leila before leaving the place. Seeing that she was motionless and her face was tense, he firmly looked away and took Ellie and his people to leave the place.

After Yue Ran was completely freed from the restraints, she stood up and moved her numb hands and feet.

Yue Ran: Great! The result was as expected.

The male protagonist personally sent her to this other scum, so she did not have to find an excuse to abuse him in the future.

Yue Ran approached the side of the bloodied figure sprawled on the ground, her gaze fixed on him with a mixture of curiosity and disdain. The once pristine white wedding suit worn by Andre was now drenched in a deep crimson, the stark contrast transforming it into a gruesome sight. His body appeared battered and broken, the image of the male supporting role now a tragic tableau of misery.

With a swift motion, the young woman delivered a sharp kick to his side, but he lay still, unresponsive to her aggression. She then squatted down and extended a slender finger, hovering just above his nose to check for any sign of life— a breath, a flicker of movement. She then felt a faint exhale against her skin.

Fortunately, he was not dead yet. If he were dragged back and washed clean, she would be able to continue her plan to abuse him— on the condition that he did not die, of course.

...

On the other hand, Silas had successfully brought Ellie back to the towering stone walls of his castle. At long last, he had finally seized the prize he desired. Still, for some reason, he always felt like he had lost something important in his heart, making him look a little gloomy and depressed.

Ellie was not injured but was locked within the confines of an opulent bedroom, its lavish decor offering little comfort in her captivity, a magical prison designed to thwart any escape attempts, while a group of attentive maids stood vigil at the door, awaiting her beck and call. Yet, even surrounded by luxury, Ellie’s thoughts raced beyond her gilded cage. She was more concerned for Andre’s safety at the moment, completely sure that nothing would happen to her.

"Silas," Ellie called out, her voice sharp and edged with concern. "What did you do to Andre?"

Ellie usually called him Sil, and referring to him by his full name, Silas, indicated that she was furious. Even so, Silas was in a bad mood at the moment. He was so consumed by it that he did not notice her emotions at all, almost as if a thick fog had descended upon his thoughts, dulling his awareness. Perhaps, it might be because he had unconsciously reduced his patience for her.

When Silas heard Ellie calling Andre’s name again, his face instantly became gloomier. "Andre?" he spat, the name leaving his lips like venom. "Is Andre the only one you care about? Can you not see that I am also injured?" He continued, his voice raised with frustration, "And let’s not forget your identity. You are my wife— Silas’s wife, bound to me by law. As a married woman, how can you even think of and speak for another man in front of me? Where do you put my dignity?"

The tension in the air thickened, each word hanging like a cloud ready to unleash a storm.

After Silas finished speaking, Ellie realized how cold and terrifying the tone of the man in front of her was— a stark betrayal of the warmth she had once associated with him. This had never happened before. No matter how cold and stony Silas had been in the past, he was still the most patient when facing her.

As she studied him, the memories flooded back. From the fact that he brought her back without hurting her at all, Ellie thought he was still the loser Silas from their days at the magic academy, who was devoted to her, not...
