Chapter 1427: This Is Just Fine
Anthony’s words had already hurt Thomas Fisher’s self-esteem, but Alice Turner’s words hurt him a hundred times more, wounding not only his pride but also deeply injuring his heart.
"Why are you apologizing to me on his behalf? Do you think it was wrong for us to be together five years ago?" He looked at her, a hurt expression on his face, with his eyes revealing a sorrowful emotion.
"We really shouldn’t be together. We made a mistake five years ago, and we shouldn’t continue this mistake now." Alice Turner tried to avoid looking at Thomas Fisher, afraid that she wouldn’t be able to say these words when she saw him.
As soon as these words were spoken, Thomas Fisher’s brows furrowed instantly, and the hurt expression on his face became more apparent. "Being with you was a mistake? Do you really believe it was a mistake for us to be together?"
He hadn’t expected her to say that, let alone hold such a thought. He had assumed she felt the same way as he did, that being together was a wonderful thing.
"Let’s end this mistake. We should have ended it five years ago." Alice Turner still didn’t dare to look directly at Thomas Fisher, keeping her gaze elsewhere, showing a resolute and stubborn demeanor.
Seeing her like this, Thomas Fisher’s heart bled. He shook off her hand that was holding him and stormed out in a rage.

The door slammed with a deafening sound, startling both Alice Turner and Anthony. Anthony moved quietly to the front, cautiously looking at Alice Turner. "Sis! Was I a bit too harsh earlier? Mr. Fisher, he..."
"It’s better this way." Alice Turner glanced at Anthony, grabbed her things, and walked over to sit on the sofa. She didn’t even look at the bag’s contents, simply putting them on the coffee table.
Seeing Anthony standing still without coming over, she tilted her head and called out to him, "You must be hungry by now, why don’t you come over and eat?"
She thought he probably hadn’t had lunch yet and must be starving. She had just been about to call him when this happened.
Upon hearing Alice Turner’s call, Anthony snapped out of his daze, glanced at her, and stepped toward her.
"These things are all gifts from your ex-husband. Is it appropriate for me to eat them?" He sat down beside her and reminded her once again that the items were sent by Benjamin Shaw.
"But you were the one who brought these into the house." Alice Turner didn’t directly answer whether it was appropriate or not, nor did she say it was inappropriate. She gestured silently at the items on the coffee table, implying he should go ahead and eat.
Understanding Alice Turner’s intention, Anthony didn’t hesitate further. He began to search the bag for his favorite food. "Then I’ll dig in without courtesy."
Seeing him start to pick out his favorite food, she said no more, reaching for her computer and started using work to numb her mind.
As Anthony searched for his favorite food, he noticed Alice Turner was already in work mode. He glanced at her; usually, she didn’t like being disturbed while working, especially not at a time like this.
With his favorite food in hand, he quietly disappeared from her view and left her room.
Though Anthony left quietly, Alice Turner still noticed because after what had just happened, she couldn’t calm her heart. Her eyes were on the computer, but her mind was wandering elsewhere.
