Chapter 1419: Some Things Should Not Be Done Impulsively
The more Anthony asserted, the more severe Alice Turner’s doubts about him became. Watching his mouth opening and closing, she wished she could sew his mouth shut with a needle.
"You’re not telling me the truth." After Anthony finished blabbering his lies, Alice Turner slowly made her judgment, and it was a very certain conclusion.
Anthony immediately shook his head in denial: "I’m telling the truth, sis! You have to believe me."
As he spoke, he shook the hand he was holding of hers, with a pleading expression.
"You’re just lying to me together with others." Alice Turner pulled away his hand, walked briskly over and sat down on the sofa, bending over to pick up the computer on the coffee table, booting it up and getting into work.
Seeing this, Anthony immediately walked over and sat down in the empty spot next to her; he leaned in wanting to peek at her computer, but saw nothing as she shifted holding the computer towards the other side.
"We’d better keep some distance in the future, so I wouldn’t be fooled by you to count money after being sold." Alice Turner sat cross-legged on the sofa with the computer, turning towards Anthony, leaving the back of the computer facing him.
Seeing her guard so, Anthony was somewhat tearless despite wanting to cry, "Sis! How could I sell you? Even if I sold myself, I wouldn’t sell you."
He got up and scooted closer to her; this time though, he didn’t try to peek at her computer, he just obediently sat beside her.
"Those two men are quite cunning; if you don’t want them to discover your secrets, it’s best not to intentionally provoke them." Alice Turner lifted her eyes and glanced at Anthony who had moved over next to her, then continued with her computer.
"Let them discover it then, after all, now we’re in the Flame Country, not the Derry Kingdom. My dad and those uncles won’t find out." Anthony showed an indifferent attitude, the whole person looking somewhat reckless.
Originally thinking Anthony would restrain himself after hearing her reminder, but what Alice Turner didn’t expect was that he not only didn’t, he even got more unbridled, his attitude especially made her perceive a dangerous signal.
She closed the computer and put it behind her, looking up at him, "Jacob! This is indeed the Flame Country, but it doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want; you still need to be more cautious, there might be spies of those uncles here."
She looked at him with a serious face, her tone also quite stern, with no hint of joking.
"Well, if there are then there are, I don’t care." Anthony knew Alice Turner was worried about his secrets being discovered, but he wasn’t concerned, nor afraid of those uncles’ so-called spies; he was even wishing for those spies to show up so he wouldn’t have to live as tiredly as now.
From Anthony’s words, Alice Turner heard his helplessness and distress; she moved closer to him and held one of his hands, "Jacob! Some things can’t be too impulsive, you must stay calm."
She squeezed his hand hard, silently consoling his now somber mood.
"Sis! I know what I’m doing, you don’t have to worry too much about me, I’ll be careful." Anthony squeezed Alice Turner’s hand back, putting away the gloomy expression on his face, instead showing a reassuring smile.
