Chapter 1420: Don’t Try to Take Shortcuts
Alice Turner wanted to say something more, but seeing Anthony looking quite determined, she swallowed the words back down.
"Sis! Are your ex-husband and Mr. Fisher actually brothers?" Not wanting to continue the previous topic, Anthony swiftly changed the subject before Alice could speak.
Upon hearing this, Alice’s expression changed slightly, "They aren’t biological brothers, they’re really close friends."
If they were brothers, her guilt would feel even heavier. Knowing they’re just friends still makes her feel quite burdened.
"Then why does Mr. Fisher call your ex-husband ’third brother’?" Anthony was really interested in Thomas Fisher calling Benjamin Shaw ’third brother’ and was quite curious about this matter. He had wanted to know earlier but hadn’t had the luck to hear an answer.
Seeing his curious and puzzled expression, Alice sighed and spoke, despite not wanting to discuss this topic: "Besides the two of them, there are two others. The four are really, really good friends, and they arranged themselves in order of age."
This was her guess, but she believed she wouldn’t be far off.
"So they’re third and fourth; then those two are first and second. Are the first and second handsome? Are they also cunning businessmen just like them?" Anthony bluntly categorized Benjamin Shaw and Thomas Fisher as cunning businessmen, and without having seen the other two, he naturally included them as well.
Cunning businessmen?
Are those two cunning?
Alice dared not jump to conclusions, but she was very sure that the other two weren’t cunning businessmen. "The other two are soldiers, not the cunning businessmen you mentioned."
Whether it was the soldiers who were first and second, or the businessmen who were third and fourth, the four of them were prominent figures in Flame City. They all had inseparable connections with her family, yet she didn’t view this as a great blessing.
She just wanted to live a plain and ordinary life, with a simple job and a peaceful existence.
"Then they must be pretty capable, right? Third and fourth are big bosses; first and second surely can’t be worse." Anthony, following his logic, reasoned this out quite naturally.
Alice nodded, "You’re right, the other two are quite remarkable as well. The four of them are impressive characters."
Though she called them impressive characters, her tone and expression were calm, without the slightest excitement or admiration.
"Really? Do you know the other two well? Could you introduce me to them some day?" Anthony was purely curious, full of intrigue about the other two of the four brothers.
Alice didn’t directly agree or refuse, she casually replied, "It depends on your luck. If you’re lucky, you might meet them; if not, I can’t help you."
Although she had a familial connection with them, the level of familiarity made her embarrassed.
"It takes luck to meet them? Shouldn’t you be quite familiar with all four of them?" Anthony thought Alice was just stringing him along, with no real intention of introducing him to the other two.
"When did I ever say I was well acquainted with them?" Alice could instantly tell Anthony misunderstood her, and she tapped on his forehead. "You’ll have the chance to meet them, don’t try to take shortcuts."
