Chapter 1421: Poor Child
Alice Turner’s underlying meaning was obvious, and it was difficult for Anthony not to understand. This time, he didn’t refute her, nor did he secretly resort to underhanded tactics.
He listened to her words and obediently went back to his room to work, no longer thinking about things unrelated to work.
Since she knew Thomas Fisher was living right across from her, and understood his true intentions, Alice Turner hadn’t left her room since returning after breakfast.
She didn’t leave her room because she wanted to avoid any ’accidental’ encounters with him from the opposite room.
When Anthony left Alice Turner’s room, Alice had already told him not to knock on her door, and that he should just call her if he needed anything.
She did this simply to reduce the chance that Thomas Fisher would suddenly appear at her door, as she really didn’t have a good way to deal with him clinging to her.
Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!
Hearing the doorbell, Alice Turner slowly raised her head and looked toward the door, but merely looked, without any intention of getting up to open it.
Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!
After waiting a while without her opening the door, the person outside pressed the doorbell again.
Alice Turner still sat steadily on the sofa, with no intention of getting up to open the door, nor did she withdraw her gaze from the door.
Ding dong ding dong ding dong!
The person outside might have gotten a bit anxious, as the doorbell was pressed somewhat urgently.
Yet Alice Turner remained calmly seated, with the notebook computer on her lap, never intending to remove it and get up to open the door.
"Alice! I know you’re inside, can you please open the door for me? I don’t intend to bother your work; I’m just bringing you lunch."
As Alice Turner had anticipated, the person knocking outside was indeed Thomas Fisher. Hearing he was there to bring her lunch, she was no longer as indifferent as before.
She placed the laptop from her lap onto the coffee table, crossed her legs to the floor, and put on her slippers to walk toward the door.
However, she didn’t intend to open the door for the person outside; she stood by the door and said to him: "I’m not hungry right now, so you can keep it for yourself."
She couldn’t open the door, nor could she accept the lunch he brought, and certainly couldn’t give him any hope.
"I bought quite a bit, can you just open the door for me?" Responding to this, Thomas Fisher heaved a sigh of relief and lifted the hand holding the lunch, waving it in front of the peephole, just so the person inside could see he really was delivering lunch.
Alice Turner really did lean against the peephole and look outside, just catching sight of the meal box in Thomas Fisher’s hand. She sighed deeply, "I’m really not hungry, you go back and eat it yourself."
She slowly straightened her body, moving away from the peephole on the door, and further away from the man standing outside.
"Alice! Could you just open the door? I’m really only here to deliver lunch, and..."
"I told you I’m not hungry, why can’t you understand? If you bought too much and can’t eat it all yourself, then just throw it away, you don’t care about spending a bit of money after all."
Without waiting for Thomas Fisher to finish speaking, Alice Turner interrupted him, deliberately acting irrational to drive him away.
At this point, Anthony walked out of the room after hearing the commotion, seeing Thomas Fisher standing at Alice Turner’s door with a food-laden meal box, he immediately understood what was going on.
"Ah! Poor kid!" He stood at his own room door, leaning against the wall, sighing at the certain man.
