Chapter 1443: I Think Those Two Have a Chance
Things were going very smoothly. Cedric Fisher felt that staying here wasn’t much use anymore, and besides, the man of the house, Christopher Turner, wasn’t home, so it didn’t feel all that appropriate for him to hang around. He got up and said his goodbyes, ready to leave.
"Uncle Cedric! Are you heading back already?" Seeing Cedric Fisher looking like he was about to go, Lily Turner asked politely.
Cedric Fisher smiled and nodded. "I still have a meeting to attend."
There really was a meeting scheduled for this afternoon, but after getting that rescue-call from his son, he decisively rescheduled it for tomorrow morning.
Lily Turner and Sophia Wood had no idea about this. They thought Cedric Fisher really needed to rush back for his meeting. After all, he was the mayor of the city, definitely much busier than ordinary folks like them.
"Then we won’t keep you. Take care on your way back!" For a moment Sophia Wood didn’t know how she should address Cedric Fisher, so she’d just been calling him "you, you" very formally from the start.
"Please stay, don’t see me out!"
Cedric Fisher waved his hand to stop Sophia Wood and Lily Turner, who were about to walk him out. Then he strode straight toward the gate. His steps were big, and there was a trace of barely concealed joy in them.
Sophia Wood and Lily Turner stood where they were and watched Cedric Fisher get into the car and leave. Only after the car drove off did they withdraw their gaze and look at each other.
"Mom, how are Sis and Thomas doing?" Lily Turner pointed toward the house and was the first to speak.
Sophia Wood followed the direction of Lily’s finger with her eyes, then said with a smile, "From what I can tell, there’s something there between them."
As someone who’d been through it herself, she could see clearly that her eldest daughter was in love with that Fisher boy.
"Yeah, I think there’s definitely something between them too." Lily Turner nodded in firm agreement. This was the outcome she and her mom had both been hoping to see; she’d been looking forward to this situation for a long time.
Anthony was standing beside them listening to the mother and daughter talk. He could hear the joy in their voices loud and clear, and he also saw the obvious smiles on their faces.
"If Sis and Mr. Fisher end up together, then what about her ex-husband?" Now that he knew Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner might reconcile and get back together, Anthony suddenly thought of Benjamin Shaw, that man he couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for whenever he saw him.
"Her ex-husband?!"
"You know Benjamin Shaw?"
Sophia Wood didn’t react right away to who Anthony meant by "ex-husband," but Lily Turner understood instantly. Once her mom let out that startled sound, Lily turned to Anthony with a look of surprise.
Hearing Lily’s question, Sophia Wood then abruptly remembered Alice Turner’s ex-husband, Benjamin Shaw. Thinking of Benjamin, she could only sigh helplessly and regretfully.
That boy didn’t know how to cherish her when he had her. Now that he’s lost her, he regrets it—but what good does regret do?
Anthony nodded at the two women who were staring at him in surprise. "Sis Alice and I ran into him early the next morning after we got back. Mr. Fisher was there too at the time."
He didn’t hide anything and honestly told the mother and daughter what he’d encountered.
"The two of them went to look for my sister together?" That was a lot of information, and pretty unexpected too. Lily Turner didn’t know how surprised anyone else would be, but she herself was very surprised; along with that surprise, she felt especially worried.
The two men were very close brothers. Her sister had only left without saying goodbye because she didn’t want either of them—or even their two families—to feel uncomfortable.
Now that her sister was back, what was going to happen between those two men?
