Chapter 1367: What’s Going On With Those Three?
Before Evelyn could open her mouth, the man standing beside her had already started introducing himself to Thomas. "Hi! I’m Evelyn’s one-hundred-percent genuine boyfriend, Apollo Phoenix!"
As he finished, he raised the hand holding his wine glass toward Thomas, the meaning obvious—he wanted the woman at his side to clink glasses with Thomas together.
"...Hi! I’m Evelyn’s fake ex-boyfriend, Thomas Fisher!" Thomas had guessed the man might have this kind of identity, but he hadn’t expected him to introduce himself like that. He froze for a second, then quickly recovered and mimicked the other man’s tone and manner to introduce himself.
After hearing their introductions, everyone at the table laughed except Lily Turner, and William Turner laughed the hardest. "Thomas! Did you come here today just to crack jokes?"
William had no idea that Thomas and Evelyn were pretending to be a couple. Hearing Thomas introduce himself like that, he thought Thomas was joking and didn’t think much of it at all.
Hearing William’s words, Thomas cried out "not good" in his heart. Only a few people knew about him and Evelyn pretending to be a couple; he’d been hiding it from the Turner Family this whole time, yet today he’d let it slip because he talked too fast.
He glanced at William, then shifted his gaze to Lily Turner. He saw Lily with her head lowered, showing no sign of a smile, and the feeling in his heart grew more and more ominous.
Her little sister was already this upset just hearing it—let alone Lily herself. He, he...
"Thomas isn’t joking at all. He really is Evelyn’s fake ex-boyfriend." While Thomas was still worrying in his heart and wondering how to take his words back, Athena Linton suddenly spoke up, completely exposing the muddle-headed thing he’d done in the past in front of everyone.
"What?" William Turner had always thought Thomas was joking and never imagined what he said could be the truth. He was shocked, staring in surprise at Athena sitting beside him. "What’s going on? How could Thomas and Evelyn pretend to be a couple?"
He still had doubts about the whole thing and hoped to get further confirmation from her.
"Thomas..."
"Athena! Don’t talk so much while we’re eating."
Just as Athena was about to tell William what she knew, Easton Holmes, sitting not far away, abruptly cut her off. His expression didn’t look too good, and the look he gave her carried a clear warning.
Seeing his own big brother step in to smooth things over for him, Thomas shot him a grateful look, then dared not slack off in the slightest. He turned back to Apollo Phoenix and Evelyn to pick up where they’d left off. "Congratulations to you two!"
He didn’t dare mention the fake ex-boyfriend thing again and was the first to clink glasses with the two of them.
"Thank you!"
"Thanks!"
Although Apollo didn’t really understand what exactly had happened, he had just noticed that Thomas was very worried about that young guy finding out about him and Evelyn pretending to be a couple.
Very tactfully, he didn’t pursue the earlier topic and cooperatively raised his glass to clink with Thomas.
Evelyn, however, understood the whole story clearly. Knowing everything, she had even less reason to continue that previous topic. She and Apollo worked together to steer the conversation over to drinking instead.
William Turner’s mind was full of questions. With things still unclear, how could he possibly just let it go? He glanced at the three people drinking, then leaned over toward Athena. "What exactly is going on with those three?"
