Chapter 1388: You Don’t Mind Bringing Me Along, Do You?
Though five years had passed, Alice Turner recognized Thomas Fisher’s car at first glance. She hadn’t seen him sitting inside the car just now, but she knew he was there. He must be there.
When Alice went out, she was initially quite eager to take Anthony for a stroll. But now, she lost all interest and really wanted to find a quiet place to stay alone for a while.
She looked at Anthony walking beside her; it seemed her wish wasn’t going to be easily fulfilled, as her request would certainly meet with resistance from him.
Anthony was born and raised in Italy. Although he had returned with his parents as a child, his memories were not very deep. Everything around was so new to Anthony.
Anthony followed Alice, walking and strolling, asking her questions all the way. Anthony always had endless questions and things to say.
Even though Alice wasn’t in the mood, she still answered Anthony’s questions one by one. After all, she had promised someone to take good care of him, and she always kept her promises—that was her principle.
"Tony! Let’s find a restaurant for lunch, shall we?" Approaching noon, Alice really didn’t want to wander anymore. It was a good opportunity to stay quiet while having lunch.
"Sister! You’re hungry, aren’t you?" Anthony asked without waiting for Alice to respond, pulling her along to find a restaurant, "Come on! Let’s go eat."
Not mentioning it was okay, but as soon as eating was brought up, she really felt a bit hungry.
Alice hadn’t really eaten much last night, and she barely ate this morning. She and Anthony had strolled for the whole morning; now she was thirsty, hungry, and tired.
After agreeing on it, they walked into a small roadside restaurant.
"Choose whatever you want. I’ll have a serving of fish-flavored shredded pork on rice." During the five years abroad, Alice missed these simple, home-style Chinese dishes the most. Even though there was Chinese food abroad, it always felt like something was missing.
Perhaps it was the authentic taste, or maybe it was the atmosphere that couldn’t be felt abroad.
Anthony pushed the menu aside, pointed at Alice, and said to the waiter standing next to them, "I’ll have the same as her."
The waiter was about to turn and report their order when Alice suddenly called out to him, "One fish-flavored shredded pork on rice, and one braised beef on rice."
"Please hurry, we have an urgent matter to attend to, thanks!" Without giving the waiter a chance to be puzzled, she nudged him, indicating for him to quickly report their order.
Not only was the waiter puzzled, but Anthony was also very puzzled, not understanding why Alice didn’t want the same dish, "Sis! You don’t want to eat the same as me?"
This was the only reasonable explanation Anthony could think of; he just wondered if he guessed correctly.
"Fish-flavored shredded pork has chili peppers; you can’t eat them." Anthony was allergic to chili peppers and couldn’t eat even a little. Alice had seen his allergic reactions firsthand; it was terrifying, and she didn’t want to see it again.
Moreover, she couldn’t bear the responsibility. If anything happened, she wouldn’t know how to explain it to his family.
Anthony didn’t know what fish-flavored shredded pork was; he had just casually ordered it because Alice did, "So that’s why..."
"Mind if I join you?" A voice suddenly interrupted their conversation.
