Chapter 1417: You Don’t Have to Be So Cautious

Because it was so unexpected, Anthony cried out so loudly that Benjamin Shaw and the approaching Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner all heard him. All three of them showed slightly awkward expressions, especially Alice, who had already walked up to Benjamin’s side.

"You’re here." Alice didn’t know what to say; in her panic, this was the only line she could think of. The moment she said it, she felt it was completely pointless.

"Yeah." Benjamin gave Alice a small nod, then shifted his gaze to Thomas, who had walked over with her. "You got here really early."

He looked at his good buddy; this was a question that didn’t actually need an answer, because he had seen it with his own eyes.

Before Thomas could open his mouth, Anthony, standing next to them, had already spoken up. "Your brother got here yesterday and never left. He’s been staying in the hotel watching me... and my wife."

When he said the second half, he deliberately raised his voice, just to make sure the other man paid special attention to that part.

He had thought Thomas had come early this morning, but Benjamin never imagined that Thomas had arrived yesterday morning and hadn’t left since. He really was surprised; though surprised, he could also understand.

His good buddy had that kind of personality; he was exactly the sort of person who would do something like this. Benjamin really should’ve seen it coming.

Anthony’s words earned him an eye roll from Thomas, but the man at the center of it all acted like it had nothing to do with him. He tilted his head and looked at Benjamin standing beside him.

"Your brother also said he’s my wife’s ex-boyfriend. As her ex-husband, did you know about that?" Seeing that neither Benjamin nor Thomas was saying anything, Anthony spoke up again. The second he did, he instantly drew another round of dissatisfied looks from the other three.

"We should get back to work."

Alice took a step forward and reached out to straighten Anthony, then pulled him toward the hotel. As she led Anthony inside, she didn’t forget to say something to the other two. "You two do whatever you want. We’re going in to work first."

With that, she grabbed him and strode straight into the hotel, not caring what the other two men might think, and even less what they might do. She just held on to him and headed back to her own room.

Watching Alice pull Anthony into the hotel, Benjamin and Thomas seemed as if they’d planned it in advance: neither of them followed, and neither said anything to stop them.

Only when Anthony and Alice were completely out of sight did the two of them slowly pull back their gazes, then, in perfect sync, look at each other.

"Let’s talk."

"Let’s talk."

Benjamin and Thomas looked at each other and then spoke at the same time. They said the exact same words; anyone who didn’t know better would think the two of them were performing a rehearsed skit.

Neither of them had expected their timing to be so perfectly in tune, but they didn’t dwell on it. They just shared a brief smile, then turned and got into their respective cars.

After Thomas and Benjamin got in their cars, they drove away from the hotel one after the other.

On the other side, Alice pulled Anthony all the way back to her room. Before going in, she glanced behind her, and only after confirming she couldn’t see those two men anywhere did she finally close the door with relief.

"Sis, you don’t need to be so on edge. It’s not like those two can actually eat you." Seeing the wary look on Alice’s face, Anthony couldn’t help teasing her.
