Chapter 1399: Answering Her Call Without Permission
"I’ll go to the bathroom!"
Alice Turner felt particularly upset inside, and the tears in her eyes were hard to hold back. She urgently needed to go to the bathroom to deal with it.
At first, Thomas Fisher didn’t react to what Alice Turner had said. After being stunned for a while, he jumped out of his thoughts and slowly loosened his arms that were holding her.
He had been too intense just now, thinking she was going to disappear on him again.
Just freed, Alice placed the laptop on the bed and immediately got up to walk toward the bathroom. The moment she stepped in, the tears she had been trying hard to hold back burst out.
Worried that people outside might hear something, she turned on the faucet, but she was still a bit uneasy. She covered her mouth with one hand, trying her best not to make a sound.
Alice initially intended to use the sound of the water to cover her sobs, but by doing so, she ironically exposed her unusual state by turning on the faucet as soon as she entered the bathroom.
Thomas quickly sensed something was wrong. He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom door, pressing his ear against it, listening closely to the sounds inside.
He listened by the door for a long while, hearing only the sound of running water and nothing else. Even without other noises, he felt that something was odd with the person inside.
He didn’t knock on the bathroom door but leaned against the wall outside, quietly waiting for the person inside to come out.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
The sound of the phone vibrating suddenly came from the bed. Instinctively, Thomas looked over, and Alice’s phone on the bed caught his eye.
He glanced at the buzzing phone and looked away, assuming it would stop ringing after a while. But after ringing once, it immediately started ringing again.
When the phone rang again, Anthony’s figure suddenly flashed in Thomas’s mind. Glancing at the closed door, he straightened up and walked toward the bed.
He walked over, bent down, and picked up the phone on the bed. He took a look, and sure enough, it was Anthony calling.
He stared at the phone, hesitated for a moment, but couldn’t control his impulse and picked up the call.
"Sis! Why did it take you so long to answer? Were you lost in your work again?" As soon as the call connected, Anthony started babbling without waiting for a response from the person on this side of the phone.
Sis?!
At first, hearing someone call "Sis" on the other end, Thomas was momentarily confused, thinking it was Lily Turner’s call. But then he realized the voice wasn’t Lily’s, and suddenly recognized that this was Anthony’s call.
But why would this man call her "Sis"? Weren’t they husband and wife? What’s going on here?
"Sis! Why aren’t you speaking? Are you mad at me for interrupting your work?" Not hearing any response for a while, Anthony got anxious, thinking Alice was upset about being disturbed, and quickly explained on the phone, "Sis! I didn’t mean to interrupt your work, I just suddenly wanted to ask you a question."
Thomas had intended to interrupt Anthony’s words, but when Anthony mentioned wanting to ask Alice a question, curiosity sparked within him, and he remained silent, waiting for the question from the other side of the phone.
