Chapter 1450: We’ll Soon Be One Family

Evie was already used to this kind of "education" from her mom, so used to it that she could just tune it out. One arm was wrapped around her dad, the other hand pointing at her brother and sister in her grandparents’ arms. "Daddy! Take me over there."

As she spoke, the little girl twisted her body, wanting her dad to carry her over to her grandparents’ side.

"We’ll bring Mommy over with us." Easton picked Evie up with one arm and held Lily with the other, walking toward Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood. Once they got there, the three of them sat down beside their parents.

After they took their seats, Easton and Lily greeted Cedric Fisher and Autumn York. Once they’d exchanged greetings, Thomas Fisher finally called the waiter over to order.

Because she wasn’t all that satisfied with Alice Turner as her daughter‑in‑law, Autumn spoke very little, though the expression on her face didn’t show it too obviously. She kept a faint smile on the whole time.

Alice knew Autumn wasn’t happy with her, but she didn’t make herself look too humble, nor did she deliberately try to ingratiate herself. She just calmly and openly did what she was supposed to do.

Sophia wasn’t blind, and she wasn’t stupid either. Even though Autumn was smiling on the surface, she knew this mother‑in‑law was very displeased with her eldest daughter.

Facing a situation like this, her heart was full of emotion. What on earth was wrong with her two daughters? Why did neither of them manage to win over their mothers‑in‑law?

Both daughters had the figure and the looks, and more importantly, they were both so kind and so capable.

Sigh.

At least both sons‑in‑law doted on the girls. Both sons‑in‑law stood firmly on her daughters’ side and wouldn’t let them be wronged.

This time, Sophia didn’t act the way she had at the beginning with Amelia Linton. She planned to lower her posture from the start and get along well with this in‑law so the two kids wouldn’t be stuck in the middle feeling torn.

"In‑law, have some dishes." Sitting right next to Autumn, Sophia didn’t care what the other woman was thinking. She picked up a clean pair of chopsticks, picked up some food, and placed it into Autumn’s small plate.

Autumn had been sitting with her head lowered, lost in thought. When a voice suddenly sounded beside her, she quickly pulled herself back and turned her head toward the sound.

"Thank you." No matter how unwilling she felt inside, she still politely said a word of thanks.

"We’re about to be one family; let’s not be so formal." Sophia kept a friendly smile on her face. With the chopsticks in her hand, she gestured toward Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher. "These two kids care so much about each other. As their parents, we should make sure our relationship is harmonious too. In‑law, don’t you think I’m right?"

She tilted her head to look at the other woman, her face full of friendly smiles.

Of course Autumn understood this logic, but whenever she thought of how Alice had once been married—and that her ex‑husband had been her own son’s good buddy—she just couldn’t get over that hurdle in her heart.

"In‑law is absolutely right. As parents we should get along, that way the kids will be even closer to each other." Seeing that Autumn hadn’t said anything for a long while, Cedric, who was sitting on her other side, hurriedly spoke up. As he talked, he bumped her leg lightly with his own, hinting that she should act a bit more warm and normal.

Easton seemed to sense the off atmosphere. He handed Evie in his arms over to Lily, then reached out to pick up the wineglass in front of him. "Uncle Cedric, Aunt Autumn, Dad, Mom—congratulations to the four of you on becoming in‑laws."

With that, he stood up, wineglass in hand, and bent slightly to clink glasses with Christopher Turner and Cedric Fisher.
