Chapter 1385: I’m Her Ex-Husband
Alice Turner and Anthony walked out of the elevator and headed straight for the hotel entrance, neither of them noticing that two men were watching them.
"Alice! After dinner, take me around for a walk, I want to get to know the city where you live." Anthony negotiated with Alice as they walked outside.
Alice tilted her head and nodded: "No problem!"
After being away for five years, she also wanted to have a good look around and see what changes had occurred in the city she lived in during these years.
"Honey! You’re the best!" Anthony joyfully hugged Alice’s arm, his face shining with a bright smile.
At this moment, Thomas Fisher and Benjamin Shaw happened to walk up from the side, and Anthony’s words inadvertently reached their ears. Their steps suddenly halted, and their faces instantly turned less pleasant.
"Alice!"
Benjamin was the first to regain his composure and called out loudly to Alice, maybe due to excessive excitement, his voice carried a noticeable tremor.
The familiar shout suddenly came from behind, causing Alice to freeze. Anthony, who was holding her arm, felt it instantly and turned his head in the direction of the sound to look behind them.
"Alice! Who are those two men behind us? They’re old acquaintances of yours, aren’t they?" Anthony withdrew his gaze from behind and looked curiously at Alice standing beside him.
Two men! Neither of them left?
From Anthony’s words, Alice learned that both Thomas Fisher and Benjamin Shaw were there, taking a deep breath, she turned around to look at the two men behind her.
Eventually, they were bound to meet, and there was no need for her to keep avoiding them. She didn’t have the time to slowly adjust her thoughts here.
"Long time no see!"
Before returning to the country, Alice had thought about what to say at their meeting, and what kind of state she should face Benjamin and Thomas in. But when they were truly standing in front of her, she found she could only utter these four words.
Benjamin took a step towards her, and as he approached, his gaze remained fixed on her, and everything around seemed to vanish suddenly.
He stopped a meter away from her, his eyes still unwaveringly on her.
"You’ve changed!"
Benjamin watched her for a long while, and just when she thought he wouldn’t speak, he suddenly did.
Before Alice could respond, Anthony had already stepped in front of her, blocking her behind him, glaring at Benjamin in front of them with hostility, "Who are you? You and I..."
"He’s a friend of mine." Before Anthony could finish, Alice reached out and pulled Anthony aside, intending to stop him from making a fuss, but she overestimated Anthony’s understanding.
This troublemaker seemed not to understand her meaning, standing in front of her again, but this time facing her, "What friend? I don’t think he’s just a normal friend of yours."
Though Anthony’s words were questioning, his expression showed no sign of it. But standing behind Anthony, Benjamin couldn’t see Anthony’s current expression, assuming Anthony was questioning Alice resentfully.
"You’re not mistaken, I’m indeed not a regular friend of hers, I’m her ex-husband." Benjamin loudly declared toward Anthony’s back.
