36. The Strike of War
The Royal Zayne Army formed with the fortress on its back.
Army on the western side of the Alsline Empire lined up on the hills.
The two armies finished forming at the same time, as if they had tried to, and stared at each other at high and low differences.
A Royal Army soldier looking up at the Imperial Army on the hill to be challenged.
By contrast, an Imperial Army soldier stares down at his enemies.
The two armies squeeze their weapons with sweaty hands, waiting for each other's commanding instructions now or now.
"Hmm, isn't the Royal Army moving?"
Looking at the enemies in line under his eyes, Gracos Basen snorted.
I suspected I was going to set up an ambush on this one exactly because I moved earlier, but the Royal Army seemed to wait until the Imperial Army formed a formation on purpose.
Come set me up. Call me.
The voice invited by the enemy general, Basel Garst, was clearly heard in Basen's ears.
"Fine, why don't we get you on that invitation! Let me show you what you're going to do with this army!
"First Army, Assault!
At the behest of Basen, his deputy, Safaris, raises his voice.
"Ooh, ooh, ooh!
Part of the Imperial Army that was forming on the hill moves out. An imperial soldier lined up on one side of the horizon builds momentum by the slope of the hill and pushes it like a tsunami.
"High controls low. This is the basics of battle!
With Fortress Blaine behind his back, the Royal Zayne Army takes a squarely dense formation.
Imperial soldiers outnumbered against such a Royal Army will be sidelined and spread to encompass a consolidated Royal Army.
Imperial soldiers, well down the ramp, strike the Royal Army with momentum.
"Spearmen, forward!
"Huh!?"
But the Royal Army hasn't been hit in silence either.
A forward soldier, who stood on his shield, quickly lowers back, and another soldier, who was hiding behind it, leads forward.
What they held in their hands was a long spear as long as four metres long, nearly twice as long as the lance used by the Imperial soldiers.
"Guuuuuuuu!?"
"And stop! Guaaaaaaa!?"
The Imperial soldier, who stormed with downhill momentum, is suddenly skewered into a long spear that appears.
Soldiers who rushed to kill momentum and try to stop are also pushed out by subsequent soldiers, following the same fate as those who stormed first.
"I see, dense formation for that matter!
Basen roars in his face.
The dense, long-speared Royal Army has no clearance to enter, but stands as a wall of spears.
The Lance used by the Imperial Soldiers didn't even reach the Kingdom Soldiers, and they skewered every horse, such as a cavalry.
"I didn't know they were going to take the high and low differences backwards. Wow! Then we've already got soldiers spinning around the side!
Imperial soldiers who stormed from the front feed on longspears, but troops who turned to the sides are still alive and well. Sandwich the squarely dense Royal Army from left to right.
"Archers, shoot. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
But it rains and bows and arrows pour down on such imperial soldiers.
The source of the arrows unleashed to protect the Royal Army was from Fortress Blaine, which the Royal Army was keeping on its back.
Soldiers lined up on the walls fired reinforcements at the Royal Army, which was lining up to defend the fortress.
"Fuck! You kingdom soldiers!
"Gu, ghaaaaaaaaa!
"Him! Take over the Imperial Soldier!
To the Imperial soldier flickered by a reinforced fire, the Kingdom soldier sticks out a spear.
Empire soldiers were on top in both number and level of practice, but there is no way they could break the kingdom's dense formation or anything like that with an arrow from above to be vigilant.
One imperial soldier after another reduces the number, and the rest pulls backwards with their crawling bodies.
"I see, I didn't expect you to use the fortress in a different way than Cage Castle... and the king of kingdoms. Wow!
"Grandpa, shall I leave?
Seeing the Imperial Army eat an unexpected counterattack, Ceilia spoke anxiously to Basen.
Until earlier, she was an Imperial Empress in military uniform, but now she was dressed in blue and silver armor.
Forged with the finest misrills, the armor was only allowed to be worn by the royal family and was an iron-walled armor that would not allow any attack to pass.
"Ho, don't be in a hurry. The battle has only just begun!
Basen laughs graciously to reassure the drowning princess, stroking her chin beard with a relaxed hand.
"The enemy is stronger than expected. It must be painful, but it's also a flavor of war. Your Highness, stay with me."
"Really? Then I'm watching..."
It was Ceilia snorting at Basen's words, but there was some unconvincing color floating around its face.
Her gaze is directed at the remains of soldiers falling around the Royal Army.
The shaped lips were cuddly bound and apparently had not accepted the death of an ally soldier as a necessary sacrifice.
(He's kind. If you can, you shouldn't be in a position to fight like this...)
The princess named Sailia von Alsline is naive and liked by everyone. If she had never been chosen by the Holy Sword, she would have lived in love with flowers without standing in such a bloody place.
(And slowly, marry a man of great nobility... no, sweat in my eyes)
Basen had forgotten the situation and immersed himself in such sentiments, coughing while holding his head down.
"Lower the First Army backwards! The Second Army loosely besieges the enemy in no hurry, and the Third Army stretches out over the hill to simulate the bow!
Shaking away the slightest stray that has arisen in him, the old warring general flies his instructions abruptly.
The sun shining brightly in the sky has just passed the top of the sky.
The battle had just begun.
