Chapter 105: I Don’t Think Anyone Here Can Beat Me
Just as William was about to follow after Liam, he saw someone coming from the distance, and his footsteps paused.
The person coming was a short-haired, bulky young man, almost two meters tall. His eyes were fixed on the student badge in his hand as he followed its guidance and walked toward the same building William was standing outside.
’Brown...’ William muttered the name of the tall man.
Brown was also sixteen years old, but because of his special trait, his build was very bulky, and he looked to be around twenty years old.
"What’s wrong?" Liam, who noticed William had stopped turned around and asked.
William took one last look at Brown before shaking his head and entering the building.
"Let’s go."
Following the guidance of their student badges, they reached the second floor of the building and stopped right outside a classroom.
"Class A," Liam read the name of the class written on the door and when he looked inside, he saw that some people were already sitting there.
The classroom was about one hundred square meters in size, with rows of benches. The benches were designed for two people, allowing two students to sit together. There was a podium at the front with a small crystal orb placed on it.
It looked like a completely normal classroom with nothing remarkable about it.
However, William knew that it was only because the class hadn’t started yet. Once the class started, this normal classroom would transform completely.
When Liam and William entered the class, the people who were already present turned their heads to look at them.
William’s eyes also swept over them, but he only had a vague impression of a few people and didn’t even recognize some of them.
It was understandable.
It was impossible for him to know everyone simply because they were in the same class. Moreover, he had stayed in Class A for only a short time before being transferred to a different class.
All the students currently present in the class were commoners, and no nobles had arrived yet.
Another thing that caught William’s attention was that none of the students present were sitting on the benches at the front.
Around four rows of benches, which was almost half of the benches in the classroom, had been left empty at the front, while everyone was sitting at the back.
William knew it was because they had left those seats for the nobles. It wasn’t compulsory or necessary for commoners to sit at the back, but they still did so to avoid unnecessary conflicts with nobles.
After all, sitting in front and letting nobles sit behind them would definitely cause dissatisfaction among those high-ego people.
Some of the people present in the classroom were about to greet Liam and William, but they immediately fell silent when they saw William sitting in the first seat in the left corner.
Although Liam didn’t know much about the academy and had no respect for nobles, even he knew what it meant to sit on the front seat, so he couldn’t help but lower his voice.
"Why are you sitting here? Don’t you know what it means to sit here?"
William glanced at Liam and pulled him to sit beside him.
"Just relax," He said calmly. "If you want to always stand behind those nobles, then you are free to go sit at the back."
Liam was taken aback by William’s words and shook his head.
"It’s not about standing behind them. I just feel like it’s better to avoid conflict with them if possible."
"And why do you want to avoid conflict with them?" William raised an eyebrow. "Is it because you think they’re strong and you can’t do anything to them?"
"Well..." Liam scratched the back of his head because that was indeed the reason he didn’t want to get into a conflict with them.
William shook his head when he saw this. Although it didn’t look like much, this kind of mentality was actually a very serious problem.
In the original timeline, he had seen many students who were better than many nobles and even had the opportunity to get ahead of them.
But they simply couldn’t because they had the mentality of—If possible, avoid conflict with nobles.
The thought that nobles were superior to them had been drilled into their minds since childhood.
And to William, who wanted to create a faction that would definitely clash with nobles, having his faction members possess this kind of mindset was definitely not a good thing.
He looked at Liam and spoke seriously.
"Be more confident in yourself, Liam. I can tell you right now that among all the noble students who will be joining our class, you are already stronger than more than half of them."
Liam’s eyes widened upon hearing William’s words.
"Are you serious?"
"Of course," William nodded. "I saw how you fought against those Desert Scorpions. Your combat sense is very good. If those pampered nobles were to face those monsters, more than half of them would freeze up because they had never fought or even faced a monster before."
Liam fell silent upon hearing William’s words.
It wasn’t that he thought he was weak. He knew he was actually quite powerful compared to other people of the same level because of his Epic-Grade Trait.
However, he always felt that compared to nobles, he had too many disadvantages, which made him feel that he wasn’t as strong as them.
"I know you have always heard since childhood that nobles are very powerful and that you can’t do anything to them. You should always listen to them, and so on. But..." William looked at Liam seriously.
"All of these things are complete bullshit. There isn’t much difference between us and them. They can act high and mighty simply because they have a better starting point than us. But a starting point is just a starting point; it’s not the end. Where you will end up from your starting point depends entirely on your own efforts."
At first, when Liam and William sat down in the front row, the students sitting at the back thought that they were from noble families.
But as they watched their behavior, they soon felt that something was wrong.
Although they couldn’t clearly hear what they were saying, they could hear a few vague words and understood that they were also commoners like them.
And the person with green eyes seemed to be telling the other one not to be afraid of nobles.
Most of them couldn’t help but give them weird looks, wondering where these idiots had come from, while some people shook their heads and looked at them with pity.
"Idiots."
Some of them even mocked them without lowering their voices, though neither Liam nor William cared about them.
"After hearing everything you said, if I still leave and sit at the back, you will mock me for the entire semester, right?"
"Nope," William shook his head. "I will mock you for your entire lifetime."
"Damn you," Liam couldn’t help but chuckle. "You said I am stronger than more than half of them. What about the remaining ones?"
"Hmm... At your current level, you can’t beat them," William said while rubbing his chin. "Not all the nobles are useless. There are still some who are quite powerful and even have good traits just like us. If you face them now, you will definitely be rubbed into the ground."
"But..." William showed him a bright smile. "You don’t have to worry about them. Just like how they can rub you into the ground, I can do the same to them. After all, I don’t think anyone here can beat me."
Liam’s mouth twitched at William’s words, and he squeezed out a smile.
"How reassuring."
As the class time approached, more and more students arrived, including Brown, whom William had seen at the beginning.
Suddenly, a girl about 165 cm tall, with long blue hair and a lean build, rushed into the classroom. Only after seeing that the class hadn’t started yet did she let out a sigh of relief and walk toward one of the seats at the back.
When William saw the girl, his gaze lingered on her for a moment before he looked away and lowered his head slightly.
’It’s good to see her all lively again...’
He thought inwardly, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
The girl was Sophia, who had committed suicide in the original timeline because of Lucas.
Since William wasn’t familiar with her in the current timeline, he didn’t greet her or try to talk to her.
Just then, a group of four people, who were different from the previous students entered the classroom.
The nobles had finally begun to arrive.
