Chapter 1467: Wedding Banquet
Lv Beiguang looked at his daughter’s unconcerned expression and suddenly felt much more at ease inside.
Hongpeng and Zhibin got up too. The whole family ate together.
Jing Chen asked, "Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, where are they?"
"They’re not as good as our Jing Chen, they’re not up yet."
"Then I’ll go look for them in a bit."
"Fine, but you can only stay a little while. Your uncle is coming to take your aunt away."
"Doesn’t Uncle always come?"
Li Xue laughed. Her father‑in‑law couldn’t bear to part with his little sister‑in‑law. That she could really understand.
"Jing Chen, you’d better stay home. Otherwise if your uncle takes your aunt away and you don’t see it, you’ll get anxious. Your uncle and aunt aren’t coming over today."
Jing Chen didn’t really understand, but when he heard that his aunt was going to be taken away by his uncle, he became a little unwilling.
After breakfast, Jiang Xinyu came over together with Zhao Xiaoli, Feifei, and Tingting.
Jing Chu had put on her clothes, tidied everything, and was sitting on the heated brick bed waiting.
"Sister Jing Chu, you’re not nervous at all?" Feifei asked with a smile.
"I was nervous yesterday, not today."
"Sister Jing Chu, you’re so pretty."
"Tingting is pretty too." This little girl who had nothing to do with Aunt Jiang was actually looking more and more like Aunt Jiang. Now she already looked about sixty percent like her.
Tingting smiled shyly and sat obediently beside Jing Chu.
After a short while, Wei Kaiyun and Old Yang, together with Shang Zhenkun, brought a few boys over.
Zhao Xiaoqiang was quite unhappy; his Sister Jingchu was going to get married.
The boys all came in and said a few words to Jing Chu.
"Sister, if Brother Chaoyang ever bullies you in the future, you tell me. He’s no match for us. We can definitely stand up for you." Shi Jing told Jing Chu solemnly.
Lv Jingchu’s tears fell when she heard that. She nodded hard. "I’ll remember. If Chaoyang bullies me in the future, I’ll definitely have you guys beat him up for me and vent my anger."
"Sister, don’t worry, we’ll always stand behind you."
Jing Chu cried even harder. She didn’t even know what she was crying for. She just felt wronged.
Shi Xian climbed up onto the kang, pulled out his own handkerchief, and wiped Jing Chu’s tears. "Sister, don’t cry. You look better when you smile."
Ah Bao said, "Auntie, don’t cry."
"Alright, stop crying. Your little brothers and sisters are all watching you." Jiang Xinyu patted Jing Chu’s shoulder.
Outside, firecrackers began to crackle. Seeing that Chaoyang was almost here, Jiang Xinyu had the boys all go out to wait.
The fruit tea outside was already set out. Chaoyang came in full of spirit, with his younger brothers behind him, though Xiang Dong hadn’t come.
Li Xue entertained the younger brothers with some pastries. Chaoyang kept darting glances toward the room, but his hands weren’t idle either, giving red envelopes to the children. Seeing him like that, Lv Beiguang felt annoyed.
But he didn’t make things hard for him; he let him go into the room to see Jing Chu.
Inside the room it was all girls now. Chaoyang, very much on the ball, gave Feifei and Tingting each a red envelope.
"Brother Chaoyang, you must treat Sister Jingchu well. We all stand behind Sister."
Chaoyang nodded solemnly. "I, Li Chaoyang, will treat Lv Jingchu well for a lifetime."
His bride was sitting so beautifully on the kang, waiting for him to come pick her up. Chaoyang was so excited he wished he could just scoop her up and leave right away.
There was no prank‑the‑newlyweds segment today. Chaoyang squatted on the floor and helped his wife put on her shoes.
The door curtain was open, so the relatives outside all saw him doing this, and Lv Beiguang’s dissatisfaction lessened quite a bit.
The newlyweds came out. Jing Chu looked at her dad staring at her and her tears fell again.
Lv Beiguang’s eyes were red too.
Chaoyang took Jing Chu’s hand and the two of them walked up to Lv Beiguang. With a thump, they knelt down together.
The two of them kowtowed three times to Lv Beiguang. "Dad, please rest assured and entrust Jing Chu to me. I will definitely treat her well all my life, cherish her, and make her happy for a lifetime."
"Alright, I believe you." Lv Beiguang helped them both up and wiped Jing Chu’s tears. "Girl, Dad will always be the dad you love the most."
Jing Chu threw herself into Lv Beiguang’s arms and burst out crying.
Lv Beiguang patted his daughter’s back. "Alright, don’t cry anymore. From now on you’re an adult. You and Chaoyang must live well together in the future.
Anything that comes up, you two discuss it together. You must treat Chaoyang well."
"Dad, I can’t bear to leave you."
"Silly girl, what’s there not to bear? Dad will always be by your side, keeping you company."
Chaoyang waited off to the side, and only when Jing Chu calmed down and left Lv Beiguang’s embrace did he reach out and take her hand.
Since they were in the same village, they didn’t use any vehicle. The two of them simply walked side by side back.
Originally Qu Xiaoli had wanted their son to carry Jing Chu over on his back, but Li Yungui vetoed it. People really didn’t do that now.
Before they reached the Li Family gate, firecrackers crackled again.
Chaoyang stepped in front of Jing Chu to shield her. Jing Chu looked at Chaoyang’s back; that little bit of grievance in her heart vanished.
Many people had arrived in the Li Family courtyard. Everyone looked at the newlyweds walking in and warmly congratulated them.
The ceremony was very simple. After the two of them completed this small rite, they went inside to kowtow to Li Yungui and Qu Xiaoli.
The couple each gave the young pair a big red envelope. Qu Xiaoli happily helped Jing Chu up. Looking at her pretty second daughter‑in‑law, she was genuinely delighted.
All the rituals were now considered finished. Jing Chu was escorted into the bridal room.
Feifei and Tingting, the two girls, followed in as well. They were going to keep Sister Jing Chu company.
"Sister, it’s really lively outside. There are so many people."
"You two must stick with me." Jing Chu still reminded the two sisters.

Outside, Li Yungui was so busy he couldn’t sit still, and the brothers Li Yunqiao and Li Yunqiang were helping greet the guests.
Wang Shulin and the others all paired up and found places to sit, knowing full well that Li Yungui was far too busy today.
Zheng Jixian also saw his niece; seeing that she was living happily, he was relieved. As for Li Yunqiang being older, as long as he treated Lan Feng well, that was enough.
This time they’d set up thirty‑five tables in total, but too many people came and there weren’t enough seats. Qu Xiaoli had originally kept ingredients for three tables aside for the family’s dinner in the evening, and now they had to use those.
But it still wasn’t enough. There was nothing for it; Changhe and his ten‑plus brothers hadn’t eaten, and only then did they just barely manage to seat everyone.
Seeing this, Li Yungui was quite upset, but he hadn’t expected people to come from the city, the county, the township supply and marketing cooperatives, and even from the grain depot and grain station.
Chaoyang and Jingchu followed behind Li Yungui, Qu Xiaoli, and Lv Beiguang. Since there were too many guests, going table to table to toast was unrealistic, so the five of them stood in the middle and had a drink together with everyone.
Today there was more than enough liquor. Watching this liquor being poured out freely, Sun Changfu’s heart ached. His own distillery’s output simply couldn’t compare to the Li Family Village distillery.
