Chapter 1469: Newlyweds
Qu Xiaoli certainly wouldn’t blame Jing Chu, she could understand.
She knew that her son’s thoughts were all about his daughter-in-law, and now his wish has finally come true, so it’s normal for him to be a bit over the top.
This is also why she took the whole family out early in the morning.
If it weren’t for lunchtime, she still wouldn’t be back.
Even if she felt embarrassed, Jing Chu still braced herself and went to the main room.
"Mom, sister-in-law."
"You don’t need to help here, Mom and I can do it."
Wang Menglin knew, from the second day she felt like she was torn apart. Her body is better than her sister-in-law’s; she should be feeling more uncomfortable, watching her walk with a bit of caution.
"That’s right, Jing Chu, you don’t need to help here." Qu Xiaoli also said with a smile. How could she let the newlywed daughter-in-law do any work?
Jing Chu felt too embarrassed to leave, so Wang Menglin understood and let Jing Chu sit by the fire.
Chaoyang kept coming to the main room to see Jing Chu, but she didn’t even glance at him.
Li Yungui and the children came back together. He hadn’t eaten breakfast. He drank too much yesterday, and he’s still feeling unwell.
He was truly happy seeing his two daughters-in-law, and with two grandsons, he didn’t feel so uncomfortable anymore.
In the afternoon, Chaoyang was still glued to Jing Chu’s side. However, he couldn’t get what he wanted. Jing Chu was still feeling unwell, so how could she let him succeed?
In the evening, he finally succeeded. Jing Chu felt Chaoyang’s deep affection for her, something every woman hopes to have.
On the second day, Lv Beiguang and his family came early, as today was the day their daughter returned to her parental home. Li Xue was well-prepared.
Even though Yang Xiuqin was heavily pregnant, she was still quick in her work.
Today was just a family meal, so Li Xue had prepared everything yesterday. Today, they just needed to cook a few dishes.
Chaoyang brought over a lot of things. No cigarettes or alcohol, but mostly fabric, sweets, and tea.
Jing Chen finally felt at ease seeing his aunt return home.
Lv Beiguang was happy seeing the smile on his daughter’s face.
Life continued like this; three days later, Chaoyang went to work at the brewery. Mainly to keep the recipe secret, only the family could do it.
It wasn’t until December 28th that the brewery took a holiday, as both sides were in a rush. Working overtime was unavoidable.
On the night of the 30th, the whole family gathered for dinner, and only Old Yang accompanied Shang Zhenkun in drinking.
"It’s now 1973. We’ve been here for several years, and the kids have grown up." Shang Zhenkun sighed.
In the past two years, he had just been reading to the kids and watching Feifei grow from a newborn to now a little girl. He was truly amazed at how fast time flew by.
Wei Kaiyun put down his water cup. "Yes, time has passed just like that, now Shi Xian is already learning martial arts from his master."
"Have you been here longer than me?" Old Yang also said with a smile.
Then he asked, "Xiao Jiang, when are we leaving here?"
Now both he and Wei Kaiyun were free to go anywhere, Old Yang was just asking casually, without any intention to leave.
"I don’t know either, once we get the notification for the university exams, we’ll leave, but it also depends on where the kids get admitted."
"Is there really such an opportunity?" Zhao Xiaoli asked. Now, with two children, she had no thoughts of going to university.
"There definitely will be, don’t worry."
"Mom, can we also go to university?"
"Of course you can. When school starts again, you’ll be going to class with others."
Over the past few years, they’ve been exposed to books, so it won’t be a sudden rush when the time comes.
Jianbin and the other two were indifferent, but they trusted their mom’s arrangements made sense.
"Mom, will Sister Yu Jie and the others go too?" Feifei asked.
"That depends on their own decisions."
After dinner, the family gathered for a chat. Jiang Xinyu kindly made milk tea for the kids.
Shi Xian loved it the most. "Mom, you’re so skillful."
"Yes, but why don’t you like the carrots I cooked?"
"Mom!" Shi Xian exclaimed loudly. Could she not bring up his embarrassing moments during the New Year?
Tingting quietly sat beside Jiang Xinyu. The little girl looked especially gentle and well-mannered, making one see her as a well-behaved child. Zhao Xiaoqiang, now a fifteen-year-old, was a refined young man. At home, he could still play around with Jianbin and the others.
At midnight, it was 1973, Old Yang and Wei Kaiyun took the children outside to set off firecrackers.
There were quite a few prepared this year, mostly fireworks, which are less dangerous and also look beautiful.
Jiang Xinyu and the others stood in the courtyard, looking up at the beautiful fireworks in the sky.
"Mom, they’re so beautiful," Tingting said, holding Jiang Xinyu’s hand, looking up.
"Yes, they’re really beautiful." The village was filled with the sound of firecrackers. With money in hand, naturally, the expense wasn’t a concern.
With the New Year comes new beginnings, Shang Zhenkun gave each child a red envelope. They each received the same amount, but only Feifei also got a jade pendant.
No one in the family felt jealous; they were all used to it.
Shang Zhenkun knew he probably only had a few years left, so he was gradually giving his cherished items to Feifei.
The children were taught to have quite mature thinking. They understood Master Shang’s intentions; aside from feeling a bit uncomfortable, there was no jealousy or dissatisfaction.
On the second day of the New Year, Jing Chu and Chaoyang came to pay their respects, but returned to the Lv Family for dinner.
Seeing how the young couple interacted, Jiang Xinyu was truly happy for them. Jing Chu had low emotional intelligence, but Chaoyang was willing to accommodate her, so their days together were filled with happiness.
Today was the day all daughters returned to their parental homes. Wang Menglin also took her two children back to the Tao Family.
During the New Year, Zhenyu didn’t stay with the Wei Family but came to accompany his sister and little aunt.
Liu Tongtong was due to give birth any day now, so Yang Yujie was the one cooking at home.
No one expected that this young lady could cook, and the food even tasted quite good.
Tao Chunhe was truly grateful to Yang Yujie, as his own skills were just average. With both his wife and sister pregnant, even though his cousin would come by every day to help and cook, having this little girl around made things much easier.
Jin Erlin brought quite a lot of food before the New Year, even sending cooked meat.
So New Year was quite relaxed. Today, Wang Menglin didn’t let Yang Yujie work. "Little girl, you rest, I’ll handle this. Thanks to you."
"It’s not tiring at all."
After lunch, a few people sat on the kang chatting.
Most of Tao Chunhe’s attention was on his wife; Doctor Liu and his wife said it would be these days when she would give birth.
