Chapter 1454: Feeling Uneasy
Even though She had already told Mu Qiancheng that she wouldn’t contact him for a long time, she still had to make a call or something back home.
And with Mr. Lan, she also had to report the situation and progress, so she had to come out every few days.
"That’s easy to handle. I’ll invite you out every few days. That way Jin Hao won’t get suspicious. It’s just that place—Jin Hao is especially sensitive about it, and I’ve heard the security inside is very tight. You really need to be careful."
"Don’t worry, I will!"
After the two talked for a while, Ah Li left. It was right during the restaurant’s busy hours; she couldn’t stay too long, or she’d arouse Jin Hao’s suspicion.
However, what Ah Li didn’t know was that the moment she entered the hotel, Jin Hao got the news. Jin Hao had arranged for his men to keep watch outside the hotel; if Jiang Xue left the hotel, they were to follow her in secret.
The man tailing them knew Ah Li, so as soon as she entered the hotel, he reported to Jin Hao. When Jin Hao heard that Ah Li had gone to the hotel, he couldn’t help but frown.
Although Ah Li counted as one of his people and the two of them had always been in a vaguely ambiguous relationship, they had never crossed that line. Ah Li was unwilling; she kept saying she wanted to save the best for her future husband.
Seeing Ah Li like that, Jin Hao hadn’t forced her. He knew he could never marry Ah Li, so he didn’t insist.
Still, every once in a while he would go sit in Ah Li’s place, chat with her, or have a meal.
Because he knew Ah Li well, he was also very clear that she didn’t really have any friends, especially female friends her own age.
Back when Jiang Xue and Ah Li hit it off at first meeting, he’d actually been happy for Ah Li. But now, the relationship between Ah Li and Jiang Xue had become unexpectedly close, which made him a bit uneasy.
Looks like he needed to give Ah Li a proper warning one of these days. With that thought, Jin Hao directly called Ah Li’s restaurant and asked her to make a few dishes and send them to his factory.
When Ah Li heard this, her expression changed slightly. She knew Jin Hao must have found out she’d gone to see Jiang Xue; otherwise he wouldn’t suddenly ask her to deliver food all the way out there.
You had to know, her restaurant was quite far from Jin Hao’s factory; even by car it took almost two hours. No matter how good the food was, by the time it got there it would have lost its taste.
So she quickly guessed Jin Hao’s intention, and she laughed as she said, "Mr. Jin, don’t joke with me. My restaurant is so far from your factory; even if I send the dishes over, they’ll be cold by then. How about I just go over there myself and cook a few dishes for you on-site—what do you think?"
"Forget it. By the time you come over, who knows what time it’ll be. My stomach can’t wait that long." Jin Hao never really meant to have Ah Li deliver food; he was only using it as an excuse to warn her.
As for the effect, he knew Ah Li would understand what he meant, because she was a smart woman.
"Since that’s the case, why don’t you come over this evening? I’ll ask Jiang Xue to come too, and we can eat at the restaurant together. Last time, didn’t you say Jiang Xue’s cooking was delicious? Tonight we’ll have her in the kitchen, make two dishes for you—how about it?"
"No need. I don’t have time tonight; let’s do it another day. But you praise Jiang Xue so highly—aren’t you afraid she’ll steal your business in the future?"
"Mr. Jin, I’m not that petty. If Jiang Xue is willing, I’m actually planning to invite her to come work at my place. In fact, I just went to the hotel to talk to her about it, but unfortunately she didn’t agree."
