Chapter 1856 - 1858: Who Knows What She’ll Do Next
Jingjing left, and the other courtyard finally became quiet.
Xiaotian knew that her father-in-law and mother-in-law were aware of what happened in the other courtyard.
However, they didn’t mention a word about it, nor did they blame her.
She felt that her relationship with them couldn’t continue to be so strained, especially since she and Little Yueyue still had to live in the Guo Mansion. The fault was indeed hers, and she, as a junior, should be more proactive.
Hence, she gathered some fabric and planned to personally make clothes for her father-in-law and mother-in-law as a gesture of her sincerity for reconciliation.
One day, as she was cutting and sewing in the room, she heard some commotion at the doorway.
Looking up, she was somewhat surprised; it was Guo Feng returning home. She greeted him with her usual slight smile, "Brother, you’re back."
Seeing Xiaotian, all of Guo Feng’s fatigue vanished. He quickly walked over to her, "Yes, I’m back. What are you doing? Haven’t you stopped making these for quite a while now?"
Guo Feng was somewhat surprised to see Xiaotian picking up needle and thread again, as ever since Little Yueyue was born, her focus had been entirely on her, and she hadn’t done any embroidery work.
Seeing Guo Feng, Xiaotian spoke with a smile, "I want to make clothes for Dad and Mom to ease the tension with them."
Upon hearing this, warmth filled Guo Feng’s heart, yet it was rather bittersweet, "While I was away, did they trouble you?"
"They didn’t trouble me, rest assured." Xiaotian replied, hoping Guo Feng wouldn’t worry too much, then asked, "Have you eaten? Should I have the kitchen prepare something?"
"I just got back, haven’t gone to the main courtyard yet; I’ll go over and inform Dad and Mom first, then come back."
Guo Feng had always been concerned about Xiaotian and Little Yueyue, fearing the family would make things difficult for them. He hurried back upon finishing business and came straight to the courtyard to see them, without even heading to the main courtyard first.
Upon hearing this, Xiaotian hurriedly urged Guo Feng to go, out of concern that her in-laws might nitpick.
Guo Feng left the room. Instead of going to the main courtyard, he first found Zi Lan. He was eager to know what had transpired during the days he was gone, "During the days after I left, did anything happen?"
"In response to the young master, Miss Jingjing came, and Madam had the young mistress entertain Miss Jingjing."
Hearing this, Guo Feng frowned; Jingjing, that girl who didn’t know her place, had come, and wasn’t Xiaotian at a disadvantage?
He asked anxiously, "Was the young mistress bullied?"
"In response to the young master, Miss Jingjing indeed made things difficult for the young mistress, but the young mistress fought back...." With that, Zi Lan recounted to Guo Feng everything that had happened over those days.
As Guo Feng listened, his expression grew increasingly grim. He hadn’t expected that once he left, his mother would bring Jingjing to bully Xiaotian and Little Yueyue. Little Yueyue nearly had a fall; if anything serious had happened to her, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
His eyes were filled with intense depth. He felt that ever since Little Yueyue’s parentage was uncovered, everything had changed. The Guo Mansion would never be the same as before, even though he was protecting Xiaotian and Little Yueyue. In places he couldn’t see, things could occur, especially involving his mother, who had various means in the back courtyard. This time she brought Jingjing over; next time, who knows what she would do.
He couldn’t help but wonder whether he could genuinely protect them going forward.
"You may leave now."
After sending Zi Lan away, he stood up and headed to the main courtyard. He decided to have an in-depth conversation with his parents.
