Morning reached without delay, the sunlight poured into the room, hitting Jacob’s face and giving him an illuminating glow.

He opened his eyes and gave a languid yawn as he stretched his hands, the sounds of the birds chirping and tweeting was enough to send him back into another daze, but he forced himself up.

"Good morning Xenia." He said as he glanced towards the woman’s direction, she was sitting at the edge of the bed brushing her hair.

She gave him no response.

This was something that shocked Jacob, because she would often times greet her first. He saw that her hands were moving with how precisely she would stroke her hair with the long brush. So what was her deal?

"Good morning Xenia." He said again as he adjusted himself on the bed, this was unusual for her, to completely ignore him.

This time he was annoyed, he had never liked the cold shoulder response, especially not from Xenia, it gave him a feeling that he could not describe.

He stood up and walked around the bed, her face coming into full view as he crossed to the other side.

"Do you not hear me talking to you?" He snapped, even he was surprised at the tone of voice he used to speak to her, so he dialed back a bit and say beside her.

He received no response still.

"Xenia? What’s the matter?" He asked this time in a softer tone.

This time she dropped the brush on her lap and let out a sigh, she had a look of disappointment on her face, one that he wasn’t sure he had ever seen before.

"How do you expect me to follow you if you can’t trust me." Xenia asked him, mirroring his gaze for the first time. It was unlike her to start arguments early in the morning, but she was clearly bothered.

"Xenia I trust you with my life." He said, reassuring her, trying to grab her hand, but she moved it away.

"I don’t believe that, because that’s not what your actions say."

Jacob sat there looking at her, he already knew the point she was driving at. Xenia had practically raised him, so her feelings were not unfounded.

In hindsight, he should probably have done more to keep her in the loop, but he was under the impression that she would be around no matter what.

"I know what you mean. But I had to go back to the castle last night." Jacob said, revealing the truth, there was no need to lie in this particular moment.

"The castle? You went back home? And you neglected to tell me?!" Xenia was wide eyed, she had assumed he had gone on one of his adventures again, but this was inconceivable.

For the first time ever, Jacob saw her in an angry state, a state he couldn’t imagine she was capable of achieving.

He sat there as she rose to her feet, looking at him, she looked like she was fighting back tears. Xenia might have been a warrior, but she was still human.

In that moment, Jacob realized how he had treated her in the past few weeks, and she just ignored it.

"I’m sorry. I just had to go after finding out mother’s pregnant."

"Wow. And the lore gets deeper and deeper. Don’t get me wrong. I’m extremely happy for them, they haven’t wronged me. But you..." she said, pointing at Jacob, but she seemed to restrain her self and bite her finger.

In that moment, Jacob could say he was genuinely scared of the woman, his inner child rose to the surface and he felt a lot of remorse.

"I need to take a walk, don’t follow me." She warned as she walked out of the room, leaving the door open as Marilyn stood in the doorway.

The young maiden had come to deliver a message for Jacob as he sat there on the mattress with his head in his hands.

In a more direct term, he had ’fucked’ up.

"Young Lord. The Primarch has requested your presence, says to inform you that the matter is of great urgency." Marilyn said as she curtsied.

Jacob rose out of his near despair and nodded his head.

"Give me a few minutes to freshen up and I’ll be right with you." He said as she stood up, walking to the bathroom.

The maiden only nodded.

About thirty minutes after that encounter, Jacob now walked behind Marilyn through the halls of the Manor, which were lit with a golden hue, mirroring the reflection of the bright morning sun.

Jacob had not even had time yet to sign-in that day after his conversation with Xenia and the summon he received from the Primarch.

He looked outside, Xenia had walked far away from the castle and was currently meditating to clear her head, she didn’t want to lose her temper. She hardly ever lost her temper, and Jacob had pushed her very close to doing so.

They finally reached the door of the Primarch’s chambers, the same one that Heimdall had visited after his treatment post-battle with Jacob.

Marilyn softly knocked thrice on the large door, and after a few moments was instructed to come in.

The door opened to a huge chamber, with a king-sized bed and curtains that looked like they were gotten from the hide of the most beautiful beasts in the world.

The Primarch lay on the bed with his glasses on, his wife right beside him.

"Jacob!" The man greeted as he took the frames off. Jacob had not seen the man since his battle with Heimdall, and he certainly looked well. Way better than he did when he was ridden with the dark plague.

"Welcome Jacob. Have a seat." The Primarch said.

"Welcome to our abode Jacob, make yourself comfortable enough. Marilyn, get something for our guest." Cecilia instructed the maiden, who curtsied once again and left the room at once.

"Thank you for having me." Jacob said with a forced smile.

"I believe I’m yet you congratulate you after your stupendous victory over one of the Wutherhorn’s finest. Deserved." The man tapped Jacob’s shoulder. "But it has come to my notice that you wish to leave. Are you uncomfortable here?"
