Chapter 159: To Your Arrival And Departure
Information travelled very fast in the Wutherhorn kingdom, Jacob knew already that the news of his departure would have reached the ears of a lot of people.
He wasn’t bothered very much because he had made up his mind. He wasn’t surprised when the Primarch asked him this question.
"Yes Primarch, I have decided to leave, and no—I am not uncomfortable here, I feel very welcome." Jacob responded to his question, his gaze never leaving the man’s.
The Primarch remained silent, he stared at Jacob for a moment and and then stroked his chin. He inched closer and spoke. "Tell me Jacob, are you running from something, perchance... we have a very fine army—"
"I assure you Primarch, I am perfectly capable of dealing with whatever decides to come after me, as you have seen yourself. I was taught to never run from challenges, or opponents." Jacob interrupted, but the Primarch took no offense.
The older man only nodded, picking up his glasses and attaching it to his face again. "So where will you go?"
"I don’t know yet, the world is vast enough, I will go wherever the wind takes me." Jacob answered casually, he placed his hand on his lap and heaved a sigh. A sigh that showed uncertainty.
"Son, I understand your will to explore, but is this truly the way you want to live your life? You are of a noble home, you cannot go from place to place, perching wherever you find refuge like a lowly commoner." The Primarch had a serious look on his face, he truly did not like the fact that Jacob didn’t have a clear destination.
"I know that Primarch, but I have a limited time before I have to report to the academy, so I want to explore as much of the world as I can, I have Xenia and Leon with me, they will be my guides."
"Academy? What academy?" Asked the Primarch, inquiring about the only word he took note of in Jacob’s sentence.
"Yes, I received an enrollment invitation to the Mountain Elite Academy. I believe Yannick attended as well."
"That’s very impressive, and yes, Yannick did attend, graduated second in his class." The Primarch said matter-of-factly.
Behind his prideful exterior was a hint of jealousy, only one of his eight children was lucky enough to secure admission into the prestigious institution known as Mountain Elite Academy.
Not even Jonathan made the requirement, Yannick was only able to go after he had paid a huge sum to the proprietor of the school.
This was a fact that Jacob was already aware of, but the Primarch did not need to know that he was already aware.
Mountain Elite Academy was an academy that trained the most talented young cultivators from each continent across the planet.
It was a programme that ran for four years in total.
"I’ll have Yannick give you a run down of his time at the academy and also give you some very good advice on the best path to take while on the inside." The Primarch continued, gesturing with his hands. He was fond of doing that, a habit he had acquired over the years, most times he spoke, he did so with his hands as well as with his mouth.
"That won’t be necessary Primarch, I find often time, too much knowledge reduces the thrill of the experience. I would like to have my own experiences and make my own decisions." Jacob stretched his hand forward as is to say ’don’t worry.’
The Primarch nodded his head and broke the eye contact between him and Jacob, turning back to the book in his lap, Jacob wondered what it was that made older people in this world read so much.
His father and grandfather both read extensively any chance they got.
It was most likely because they had already experienced the cruel nature of the world and would rather bury themselves in the book than willingly surrender themselves to the carnage of the outside world.
It reminded him of how he was in his past life, which he still had all his memories from. He was beaten down by the world and had turned to novels and manwha to experience joy.
"That’s alright..." the Primarch said as Cecilia got up to let Marilyn in, the maiden was carrying a tray with wine and golden wine cups.
Gold was the official color of the Wutherhorn, almost every piece of furniture in the Manor was gold studded in one way or another, it gave the building a glow that almost rivaled that of the Ironfell castle.
Jacob’s mind drifted to Xenia, his issue with her was one that pure intelligence could not solve, no matter how analytical a creature was, when it came to matters concerning emotions, their analytical nature did not do much to help.
At sixteen, there was only so much emotional maturity that Jacob possessed, he had already promised himself inwardly that he would try to be more open with her going forward, but he also had to pacify her for her current grievance.
Marilyn poured the wine into the glasses and handed one to each of them in the way that a seasoned waitress would have, courteous and graceful.
"Since you have your mind made up, and I can’t persuade you to change it." The Primarch said with a chuckle, one of the few times he joked. "Let’s have a toast."
Jacob raised his glass. "What are we toasting to?"
"To your arrival and departure, Jacob, you’ve been a blessing, the few weeks you’ve spent here have been blissful. Well... apart from sending Heimdall to the ward." Cecilia interjected for the second time during the conversation, laughing at her own joke.
The Primarch nodded his head and responded. "I agree. To Jacob’s arrival and departure."
"To his arrival and departure." Cecilia smiled and the three of them clinked their drinks.
Jacob wondered if the couple were ever like this with their own children, was it the singular act of saving the Primarch’s life that made them like his this much.
He would never know.
