Reincarnated As The Heroes Guide

Chapter 143: Final Turn In

The helicopter landed near the shore, where every hero from Kalkan Naval Fleet Charlie was waiting for her.

"Good afternoon heroes! This will be the last quest turn in of the Second Trial, so I do hope that you’ve made plans for what you’re going to do with all your points.

Don’t forget the value of skills."

The heroes gave her matching military salutes, and Kalli smiled.

[ I wonder if I can teach the Marimgar heroes to do that? This sort of respect is addictive. ]

"We have all spent five points on a skill, and then we have reserved six points for gear and supplies," the hero at the front of the ranks closest to Kalli explained.

"Wonderful. Please step forward one at a time and claim your rewards. Inform me of what supplies you are requesting, and I will inform you of the price if it’s not already known."

The hero who had spoken was the first up, and his request was simple.

"I will give you the list of things I would like, you tell me what I can afford. The most important is an Uncommon Grade fishing rod, then if there are any points left, a metal shield and some fresh fruit. Preferably with seeds.

The ships were hastily prepared, and we’re a bit short on planting seed, as we had expected to return to land faster than we are."

Kalli nodded. "That’s not a problem. The fishing rod is two points, an Uncommon grade metal shield is two points, and you can get a lot of fruit for the rest."

That seemed to cheer everyone up.

There was only one problem. Kalli hadn’t actually unlocked the Uncommon Grade household goods. She did the food and the weapons first.

But she had more than enough points after two days of both groups going wild, and it would need to be done eventually.

{Category Unlocked} [Uncommon Grade Supplies]

{Rare Grade Supplies Available} 5000 points

Kalli took a second to consider what fruits they would want. The obvious choices were the fast-growing ones, not something that would take years on a tree to mature.

"How about melons? Honeydew melons and Watermelons both have plentiful seeds," she offered.

"I’ll take one of each if possible."

Kalli laughed and purchased the fruits, which came in a ten kilogram mesh sack.

"Your fishing rod, your shield, and your fruits. Oh, I just unlocked a discount on weapons and armour, so you’ve got one point left."

The hero was standing there with his arms full of supplies and a joyous smile on his face.

"How about a new sword? A broadsword, suitable for one or two-handed use."

Kalli created the weapon, which the System inelegantly called a "Bastard Sword", but that she identified as usable with either one or two hands.

"And there you go.

Now, let’s keep this moving while our heroes cry tears of manly joy."

The next hero in line was wearing an odd set of armour that appeared to be made of black stone. Likely a drop from the magma corrupted monsters. But she hadn’t seen any of her people wearing it, which was odd.

Unless it wasn’t better than the common grade bodysuits.

"I’m actually after the same thing that he was, but if we can go for a different fruit? I haven’t had a pear in forever."

Kalli nodded. "One fishing rod, one sword, one shield, two different kinds of pears."

The hero gave the food a loving look that any woman would have been overjoyed to have turned her way.

[ Food really is the path to a man’s heart. ] she mused, while taking orders from the heroes down the line and handing out their daily quest rewards.

Every hero was left with their arms full of food, gear, and mystery boxes. But there was not one disappointed face in the entire crowd as Kalli worked. Nobody said much, other than their orders, so that they didn’t hold up the line.

There were hundreds of heroes to make their way through the process, and they were all eager to get back to the ship and ensure that everything was in order before midnight.

It was mid-afternoon by the time that Kalli had finished with the heroes, and she found herself standing nearly alone on the shore as the heroes loaded into landing craft. It was just her, one attack helicopter, and the pilot, as the copilot had gone with Captain Kovalev back to the Ark with the first helicopter.

"It’s just you and me for now. I’ll drop you at home, and fly myself back," he explained.

"That’s fine by me. I knew you wouldn’t make me walk, but if I had to, I can just ride back on my own."

"You have transport?"

Kalli nodded. "I have a motorcycle. But we should go, I don’t want to keep you waiting and waste fuel. While it is possible for me to replace it, the cost is absolutely astronomical."

"Don’t I know it. We’ve barely put in five hours of flight time since this all started, and we’re already feeling the pinch with the Jet A reserves. The heavy bunker oil that the ships use isn’t compatible with our helicopters, and the fuel is only slightly less precious than the ammunition reserves.

That’s likely why they stationed us in Marimgar overnight. It saves the ten-minute round trip twice. But the monsters are starting to reappear, which means that it’s time for us to go. We just need to keep a wide arc around that black building.

Everything seems to go haywire when we’re too close, and this thing relies on a lot of complex moving parts."

"Now, that’s valuable information. We hadn’t noticed, but we didn’t send people with anything high-tech to examine it. Getting close doesn’t seem to affect rifles or swords, so we weren’t aware that there was an issue."

"Just be careful if your people are using those fancy laser rifles near it."

"Got it. It’s a shame that this thing has no side exit that can be used in flight. If we were in a passenger helicopter, I could just jump out on a low pass."

"Pardon?"

"Oh, right. Your heroes don’t do dumb stuff as often. We learned long ago that every hero who has reached level three can safely jump off the wall with minimal injury.

Even the mages, if they’ve been working out.

Just land at the pad, and I will let you head home without wasting fuel. But we will see you again soon."
