Chapter 169: Noon
{The Time is now 12:00. More than 80 Percent of the wave has been cleared.} Bonus prize awarded.
{Quest "Survive The Assault" parts 1 and 2 completed} 36 hours to the next wave.
{2 Epic Rewards Granted}
{Bonus Mystery Box Granted}
The three boxes appeared on the desk in front of Kalli, one translucent black, and two glowing with deep purple light.
Three rewards from one day of trials. That was definitely a good start. But these were also the first Epic Grade rewards that any of them had seen. If they granted something that they had never seen before, it might just be enough to change the tide of the next battle.
Every victory seemed to put them a bit further ahead for the trial after it, while every loss cost them something that they could not afford to lose.
Without any further hesitation, Kalli opened the black bonus box.
{Coordinator Reward Granted}
{Personalized Augmented Mobile Flight Suit}
Kalli frowned as she saw the notice. What exactly did she need a flying power armour suit for? Did the system not target these rewards? Not that it was a bad reward, those suits were ten thousand points.
But it was bound to her, and she was not a combatant. At least, not most of the time.
The reward had come from her going out to kill goblins, though. That was what put her in the prize pool, so the System must have determined that she needed armour to join the battle.
It had misinterpreted her level of combat ability.
Kalli put the suit into her Storage Realm, and opened the first of the Epic Grade reward boxes.
{Coordinator Reward Granted} Hydroponic Greenhouse, self contained, Mark 1
That phrase again. "Coordinator Reward". So, she was in a different reward pool than the heroes, getting things that were designed to help her manage the base.
Perhaps the power armour was actually for maintenance work?
She opened the second purple box.
{Coordinator Reward Granted} Physical Training Room, Gravity Assisted.
Now she was one hundred percent certain that the rewards were for the base, and not for her. But that was two buildings for one day’s worth of the quest.
But the quest wasn’t over yet.
They had gotten a day off, because they made it through two waves in one morning. But after that, the Third Trial would continue, and it was likely to get even more brutal than they had already seen.
So, the first order of business was to prepare themselves for what came next.
{Quest Issued: Makin Bacon} Collect 5 intact Armoured Boars. Easy Difficulty, maximum 5 members.
They had to clean up the battlefield anyhow, and they might as well stock up on edible beasts since the system had been so generous as to grant them an entire battlefield worth of them.
Most had been destroyed in the battle, but there should be more than enough left to fill their cold storage, and then they would have to dredge the river and start to clear out the rest of the battlefield.
Making a mountain of corpses was a bit macabre, but they could hit the pile with a plasma blast and eliminate all the potential contamination that a battlefield full of rotted flesh would create.
But that would have to wait for tomorrow, as everyone was exhausted from an entire day worth of combat.
In fact, it could likely wait for the end of the Third Trial, if it was only going to go on for a few days. They would have to clear what was too close to the walls, but the open plains would survive for a little longer without their intervention.
As long as they got rid of the corpses before things got too bad.
With the immediate threat over, the heroes began making their way to the hall. An Epic Grade quest gave them 50 points each, which was absolutely huge for many of the new arrivals, and even for the others, who had much more expensive skills to purchase, it was a big change.
But that was also enough that they could think of spending a portion on Rare Grade upgrades.
The armoured bodysuits that Kalli had been handing out were all common grade, as that was the most cost effective way to armour so many heroes. But all the veterans knew that she should be able to get them at Rare Grade, with 50 percent more armour, and likely some ability bonuses, for a higher cost.
With so much combat in their future, safety came first.
"Kalli, did you get rewards? Anything good?" Yara asked as she rushed into the room.
Kalli laughed. "I got two new buildings, a training room and a hydroponic greenhouse, plus a suit of power armour with my name on it. Not a bad haul. How did you do?"
For a second Yara couldn’t answer. The Coordinator got buildings as a reward? That was insane.
"Well, I thought I did well. I got an Epic Grade staff with bonuses to healing, like HUGE bonuses to healing, and I got an Epic Grade armoured bodysuit. You like? The stats are amazing.
But you got buildings? That’s permanent infrastructure for the city.
How can we top that with a bit of gear? I’m fairly certain that sort of thing wasn’t even on our list of possible options."
Behind her, Sergeant Sanchez laughed. "I got an armoured personnel carrier, as well as a new rifle and a potion of rapid growth. The potion seems to be single use, and it’s bound to me, so I think that it’s supposed to help me level up.
There wasn’t a description on it, just the name. Hopefully it doesn’t just make me a giant for a bit."
"Only one way to find out, but you should probably do it outside, in case it really is to make you a giant for a while. The Epic Grade vehicle is going to be huge for future missions, though.
Does it come with weapons?"
Sanchez nodded. "Four lasers and a top mounted Pulse Cannon. They’re a bit mana intensive, but so is the vehicle. It’s got a huge reserve though, so I think that it’s intended to be able to run for a set time without assistance."
"Not bad at all. Now, we have the ability to hunt outside the walls, once this trial is over."
