Kalli smiled as she saw the code flip in her administrative screen. The System really had just timed out waiting for input from someone with more access than she had.

It only granted her the right to view the output.

Much of that would be because of the quests, as they could just keep adding supplies every evening, and that gave them a stockpile. But they had also gained one person somewhere, and they had 20 more heroes than they did at the start of the trial, thanks to the residents who had reached level 1.

A massive cheer went up all over Marimgar at the "Outstanding" result. That was what the Kalkan Fleet had received in the first trial, and they had been rewarded with spaceships large enough to hold their entire group.

What sort of insane benefits would Marimgar get now that they had received the same rating in the second Trial?

Everyone was avoiding thinking about the fact that the trials were likely to be averaged, and they wouldn’t get as much of a reward because they had done so poorly the first time. But they still had hope that whatever they would get would give them an edge that would let them prevail in the next trial, whatever it should be.

At first, nobody really knew what that award list meant. Some of it was obvious, they got a fishing boat, and a power plant, which should be bigger than their generator. The greenhouse was a nice touch, too.

But weren’t the awards too small? They had gotten this much of a bonus from the first trial, except only three buildings.

Then, Marimgar Academy, and the few associated buildings that they had managed to save, began to change.

The apartment buildings, and the abandoned strip mall that the residents were using as a market, began to change first.

The buildings weren’t just changing in superficial ways, they were being completely remade, and Kalli briefly wondered what had happened to all the people inside. They hadn’t received any warning that they were in a building to be remade, and they hadn’t been ejected.

The entire shape of the buildings was changing from simple rectangles to the more organic lines of Kalli’s memory, while the buildings all expanded, turning from low apartment blocks to towering spires of architectural mastery.

The two apartment blocks became high-rise condo buildings, the strip mall became a six level shopping centre, and the small restaurant expanded to what Kalli would have called a fine dining establishment with three floors and private rooms.

If it was actually occupied, anyhow.

At this point, they could definitely move the main kitchen out there, and hire more staff to keep it running. But the Academy was changing as well.

The core building didn’t seem to have changed at first, the familiar stone blocks of the ancient edifice still in their proper order.

But all the roofing had changed from aged metal to advanced composite, the stairways at the front had gained a new surface, and the whole thing sat under a golden energy dome, as if the protective barrier was active again.

It wasn’t, Kalli checked, and the timer remained unchanged.

The changes didn’t stop there.

The dorm buildings had undergone the same transformations as the apartment blocks, towering over their previous heights, the greenhouse had expanded into an enclosed biodome with multiple levels and shaped glass that would reflect natural light into the lower tiers to keep the plants growing at optimal rates.

To Kalli, it was all familiar. It felt like home, without all the overcrowding of the hive cities.

And she had six more rewards that would let her add new buildings to the compound. Their rewards this time really were insane, and she hadn’t even begun to start placing anything.

Mostly, it was just more space, and a cosmetic upgrade. But that alone was enough to raise the spirits of the residents who had just been deposited in the lobby of the new buildings, along with a token that would let them claim their personal belongings once they picked a new residence.

For the Heroes, who had been planning to move to live near their teams, this was perfect timing.

They didn’t even have to pack now.

The greatest benefit, in Kalli’s mind, was either going to be the barrier for the greenhouse, which was now a massive multi level biodome the size of their previous field in the Academy yard, or the {Small Power Reactor Plant}.

If she guessed right, that was likely run on mana, like her generator. But it should have a much higher maximum output.

Then, she realized that she had missed a critical part of the notice.

They had two more dungeon options available.

With three different dungeons in their compound, they should be set for the next trial. If they only gave gear, that would still be enough to keep the team progressing. If they gave gear and a chance at supplies? That would be even better.

First things first.

If they had these advanced buildings, most of the functions wouldn’t work without power. The buildings might have solar glass, as the ones at home did. But those didn’t generate enough power to supply all the building’s functions.

They mostly kept basic functions like lights and door locks online.

So, she was going to have to place the power plant and find out what it was going to take for upkeep. As long as it was something that they could manage as a group, she was fine with it.

Perhaps a ritual where you walked by and donated some mana?

There was some open ground between the Academy’s main building and the greenhouse, but that seemed like it would just be in the way.

The Academy grounds were getting crowded.
