The starry night sky glowed brightly overhead.

As I sat in my most comfortable position on the terrace of my mansion, staring at the sky.

The sky that kept trembling like it was being hammered from the other side.

My heart stirred every time it happened, it was like a heavy weight was being pressed on me.

’....Why is this happening?’

I couldn’t help but ask myself as I let out a deep sigh.

[≤.....≥]

’You have something to say?’

My connection with Inna was complicated to say the least.

Even though faint, I could feel her hesitation in my mind.

She didn’t reply but a swirl of golden light flowed out of my body.

A figure materialized in the air, her long golden hair flowing gracefully behind her.

She wore a long gown that was pure black with small gems engraved on the edges.

Inna glanced at me with her red eyes before she looked at the sky. She sat beside me, never looking away.

She remained still for a long second before she let a gentle smile appear on her face.

"The world had always been against you, isn’t that right?" She said, still looking upwards. "Even when you should have all the time, that’s still not enough."

I sat back up and turned to face her. "Is something bad about to happen?"

"When ever has there been good in your life?" She replied cryptically. "But this will be a problem."

I frowned upon hearing her, she hadn’t been this pessimistic before.

"Inna...." I called her. "What is happening?"

"You will know soon enough." She stood up, stretching her body. "And there is something else."

I stood up as well and asked. "What is it?"

"I might... lose myself soon." She replied with a gentle smile.

My body froze, I stared into her eyes trying to find a lie.

"W-what are you saying?" I stammered in response.

"There is a part of me out there that is trying to get full control over my body." She said, briskly walking on the edge of the terrace.

"I tried to keep her suppressed but I don’t think I can do that much longer... soon, I will merge with her."

"...."

Multiple thoughts exploded in my head without any of them making sense.

I opened my mouth before I closed it once again. The shock settled down like heavy ink.

"It’s... Isthar." I guessed after a while. "The one who is after your body?"

Inna’s smile remained bright as ever, she nodded her head.

"Don’t worry though." She replied. "She won’t hurt you and I will make sure she doesn’t hurt those around you."

I kept looking at her as she tried to balance herself on the edge.

It was a childish thing to do for a goddess, I grabbed her hand to give her an anchor to stabilize herself.

"Is there a way to stop the merger?" I asked gently. "What if I kill—."

"It’s impossible." She replied, shaking her head. "Doing so will only make me weaker and I can’t afford that."

I rubbed my temples, feeling more mentally tired than usual.

"What will happen to you after the merger?" I asked.

Inna looked down at our joined hands before she let out a soft chuckle.

"A fifty percent chance I will remain the same." She replied. "Fifty percent chance, I will lose myself and become someone else."

"...."

I helped her step down from the edge as she stood close to me.

Inna tiptoed with a bright smile on her face. "You have grown so much."

I remained silent as I kept my trembling heart in check.

"Are you going to leave me as well?" I finally asked.

She blinked and smiled before she embraced me like I was a child.

I let her do as she pleased even though I knew she was just trying to avoid my question.

Her faint scent remained over my body even after she let go.

Taking a step back, she walked towards the stairs. "I will be with Christina." She informed. "And don’t think too much about it!"

’How the fuck am I supposed to do that?’

I grumbled inwardly as I walked towards the edge of the terrace.

I messed up my hair as I leaned over the edge, my heart hammering in my chest.

Taking in a deep breath, I controlled my overwhelming thoughts.

’There is always a way for everything.’ I thought. ’I just need to find it.’

Even though Inna seemed to have given up on it, I could still find a way to help her.

’I just need time....’

Rubbing my temples, I looked at the trembling sky. It helped me clear my cloudy thoughts.

Just as I was about to walk back inside, I felt two presences close to my mansion.

Without thinking, I wrapped the space around me and appeared right in front of the intruders.

"Holy fuck!"

Aimar screamed, dramatically moving back.

"Stop acting like a ghost fucker!"

I ignored him as I looked at the young man standing by his side.

Oliver smiled and waved his hand towards me. "Hey buddy."

I had the sudden urge to punch his face but I kept my calm.

"Where have you been?" I asked Aimar. "I was worried about you."

Aimar scratched the back of his head awkwardly while avoiding my gaze.

"...I went out for a walk." He replied vaguely.

"With him?" I glanced at Oliver.

"Rude." Oliver placed a hand over his chest.

"You make it sound like I kidnapped him."

"You probably did."

"I did." Oliver admitted immediately. "But in my defense, he followed me willingly."

"Shut up, stupid fuck!"

I narrowed my eyes slightly as I observed both of them carefully.

Their clothes were damaged all over the place.

Aimar had dried blood near his collar while Oliver’s left sleeve was completely gone.

"You guys got assaulted or what?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.

"Something like that." Aimar replied, looking away. "And we would like to keep the details to ourselves."

I looked at him for a few seconds before I nodded my head. "...Fine."

A silence settled down between the three of us.

Oliver kept looking around before he sighed and asked. "How have you been?"

"I should be asking you." I replied. "I haven’t heard anything from you in a while."

Oliver let out a dramatic sigh and placed his hand over his forehead.

"...Life has been difficult." He said sorrowfully. "My wife keeps bullying me emotionally."

Aimar looked at him with visible disgust.

"You literally worship her."

"And proudly so."

I rubbed my temples before the headache could worsen. ’Fuck them.’

"Are you going to keep running away?" I asked him bluntly. "Or are you going to settle down?"

"I have enemies roaming around." Oliver replied flatly. "I won’t rest until they all are dead."

"I can help—."

"I don’t need your help." He cut me off instantly. "Your life is already fucked."

I let out a sigh and looked around the place.

We were currently in the backyard garden that was empty.

Looking around, I found the lounge and pointed at it. "Mind sitting down for a while?"

Oliver glanced toward the lounge before he shrugged lightly.

"Sure."

Aimar looked far less enthusiastic.

"...Can I sleep first?"

Before I could ask further, Oliver immediately wrapped his arm around Aimar’s shoulder.

"He’s exaggerating." He said with a bright smile. "He only died spiritually."

"...I am going to stab you one day."

"You say that with so much affection."

Ignoring their nonsense, I led them toward the lounge area at the edge of the garden.

The night breeze brushed past the trees softly while the trembling sky illuminated the mansion grounds from time to time.

The three of us sat down quietly as I said. "You are stronger. A lot stronger now."

"...You noticed?"

"It’s hard not to." I replied casually. "Your space manipulation improved a lot."

Aimar looked between both of us before he frowned.

"...Can both of you stop sounding like old monsters?"

"No."

"No."

The twins stared at each other for a second before Aimar clicked his tongue and leaned back on the sofa.

He moved his hand in the air and grabbed something out of it. Three bottles of beer.

He passed one to both of us and I took it without a word.

Taking a sip of the tasteless beer, I asked. "How are you going to kill Edel?"

Oliver chuckled softly. "I have my plans and backup plans and backup plans for the backup plans."

He leaned back on the sofa and whispered. "Though, he isn’t my real enemy...."

’Samyaza.’

I thought to myself without voicing my concern.

In all honesty, I didn’t think Oliver had what it would take to bring Samyaza down.

’He has been surviving for so long for a reason and even if possible, it will take a long time for Oliver to reach that level.’

Samyaza is still a problem for me as well but he was also important. I couldn’t let him die anytime soon.

A silence lingered between us once again before Oliver looked at me and hesitantly said. "She wants to talk with you?"

I frowned. "Who?"

"Lilith."
