Chapter 563: [A Society of Secrets] [10] [Kingdom of Secrets]
[Headquarters of ECTO Organisation]
[Unknown Location]
In the silence that felt like space, Esmeray sat on her office chair like a lone star.
Her gaze remained on the papers that gave a detailed analysis of some of her plans.
The traps that she had set for the upcoming calamity and how she was going to reap the benefits from the lives of thousands.
Her long platinum hair fell gracefully behind her while her lifeless grey eyes shifted upwards.
There was a soft knock on her door as she remained silent for a while.
"Come in."
The door swung open at her permission and two women walked inside.
One was her trusted subordinate whose cat-like eyes held coldness. Her blackish-brown hair was tied in a ponytail. She was the [Right Wing].
The other one was a woman with curved horns on her head and long black hair that ended in a hue of red. She was the [Left Wing].
They both immediately knelt down in front of Esmeray. "My lady."
Esmeray acknowledged their presence as they both stood up.
She gave the woman with horns a deep look. "Are you fully recovered, Sypha?"
The woman nodded with a smile. "I can’t wait to serve you again, my lady."
Esmeray just gave a small nod and leaned back on her chair.
"Is Shyamal gone?" She asked in her distinct cold voice.
"Yes, my lady." Adaliah replied softly. "She will see him in a day or two."
Sypha couldn’t control her face as a smile beamed on it. "Is Azariah doing great?"
Adaliah gave her a side glance and said softly. "Yes."
Her smile only grew bigger. Holding back her ecstasy, she looked at Esmeray. "Is there a loved one of his you wish to kill, my lady?"
Before Esmeray could reply, Adaliah spoke. "Azariah would rip you apart if you even look in his direction." She spoke with an odd sense of pride in her voice. "He isn’t the young boy anymore."
Sypha’s smile didn’t change at all as she replied. "It doesn’t matter... I would willingly give my life if I can see the look of despair on his face."
Saying so, she licked her lips in a seductive way.
Esmeray, who was listening to their quarrel, spoke. "You won’t have to do anything."
Sypha immediately straightened and nodded. "By your will, my lady."
Esmeray leaned back slightly and looked at both of them.
Though her cold eyes didn’t show it, she was really in need of stronger subordinates.
Adaliah and Sypha were both loyal but they were yet to grow stronger.
Even though she had the means to make them stronger, it was troublesome.
"It looks like I can’t delay it for too long." Esmeray whispered to herself in a soft voice.
Her gaze shifted back to them. "Listen carefully."
Both of them straightened their backs and looked at her expectantly.
Esmeray tapped her fingers on her armrest as she spoke.
"There will be an influx of new and old organisations in the next few months."
She spoke in a deep voice that felt like a commandment. "Those who have been silent or scattered will once again rise to snatch power from us."
Both of them looked at her without speaking a single word.
Esmeray continued. "In the next few months, I plan to enslave both gods and angels."
If anyone had heard her, they would call her words absurd, blasphemous, or the ramblings of a mad woman.
But there was not a single doubt in the eyes of Esmeray.
She leaned forward and spoke softly. "I want both of you to get ready for the bestowment ritual."
Both Adaliah and Sypha held their breath and controlled their emotions.
"It won’t be long before you two will be useful to me once again."
Their waists bent as they both bowed towards her as if she were their goddess. "Thank you, my lady."
Esmeray leaned back and said coldly. "You both are dismissed."
They bowed once again and walked out of the office, leaving her alone.
Esmeray remained silent for a long second before she closed her eyes.
The space around her trembled violently and a vortex appeared around her.
It swallowed her whole, leaving behind her empty office.
---
Esmeray blinked her eyes and got a grasp of her new environment.
It was a dystopian place with long wild grass that had overtaken ruins that belonged to the First Epoch.
Just as Esmeray took a step, a grueling voice echoed behind her.
Quick on her feet, she moved to the side and the next instant a sword passed through where she had stood.
Esmeray glanced at the attacker with her cold lifeless grey eyes, only to find the same eyes staring back at her.
The woman who had the same height, look, and body, a mirror image of Esmeray, skidded to a halt.
She let out a low growl and immediately attacked her once again.
Esmeray didn’t move this time, she just tilted her head slightly and let the sword graze past her.
She immediately grabbed the hand of the woman who was her mirror image and in a split second broke it.
The woman couldn’t even scream when Esmeray ’changed’ her biomass, turning her into a puddle of flesh and liquid.
All that was left was a small withering maggot’s larva that she crushed with her leg.
Esmeray blinked and looked around ’her’ divine kingdom.
In the split second that it took her to deal with the woman, a hundred more women who looked like her encircled her.
A small, almost negligible smile formed on her lips as Esmeray moved.
The hundreds of her mirror images attacked her from all directions.
Esmeray moved just enough to dodge the first attack, she grabbed the sword of the second and pulled her closer.
The instant Esmeray’s hand touched the woman, she turned into a blade of flesh with a soundless scream.
Esmeray moved back and swung her blade, and as soon as it touched another woman, it absorbed her.
It only took her two minutes to kill the hundreds of ’herself.’
Blood and flesh remained all around her as a densely packed blade was in her hand.
Even after all that there was not a single speck of blood on Esmeray’s gothic black dress.
She turned her head and took a step forward as the space folded around her.
She arrived in front of an old temple that was made of gold and silver.
With the same cold look on her face, she took another step and appeared at the centre of the temple.
In the centre of the place, a small child sat on a throne that looked like it was made for a giant.
She had dark platinum hair and black eyes. She had three small heads and six arms.
Two of her arms were creating a small maggot’s larva.
She was the goddess of knowledge and wisdom—Goddess Aanat.
The girl paused, looked up, and immediately got frightened when she saw Esmeray holding a sword of human mass.
"Y-you." She stammered, pointing at her. "W-why did you come so early!?"
Esmeray didn’t reply, she just walked leisurely towards her.
Slowly, more and more women who were split images of her began to walk inside.
They surrounded the throne room like soldiers protecting a queen.
"Are you still trying to corrupt my creations with those larvae of yours?" Esmeray asked, tilting her head.
The goddess Aanat gave her a hateful look. "I would have killed you with my own hands had I not been sealed in this place along with my powers!"
"You should be grateful I haven’t killed you by now." Esmeray replied, walking closer. "I even left you with one of your powers to corrupt people out of mercy."
"You only did it because you can’t take it!" Aanat snapped. "And you can’t kill me, otherwise you can’t extract knowledge from me!"
Esmeray stepped on the stairs and said quietly. "Your knowledge is losing its value now."
Aanat sniffed and lowered all six of her hands. "T-that’s impossible!" She denied it. "I have the knowledge of everything—"
"So do I." Esmeray cut her off, towering over the small child. "There is truly no use for you."
Aanat mustered the courage to look into those abyss-like grey eyes. "You are nothing but a slave of your fate." She replied. "In the end your death is inevitable."
"So what?" Esmeray replied, tilting her head. "What is one more try for me?"
Aanat smiled like she had the upper hand.
"What about the child you painfully bore?" She said. "You even used him as a medium to fight against me, even passing a part of your madness into him."
Esmeray just looked down at the goddess before she said coldly. "Tie all her hands and legs."
Two of her clones walked towards her and Aanat immediately panicked. "Y-you can’t do this to me!"
The two clones didn’t hesitate.
They moved like extensions of her will.
Aanat tried to pull back, her six arms flaring out instinctively.
ut the clones moved away from her and instantly grabbed Esmeray.
Using the chance, Aanat fed Esmeray the larva she had just created.
Esmeray froze in her place as the larva melted in her mouth.
Her fingers twitched once... then went still.
The blade of flesh in her hand pulsed violently then fell down.
Aanat’s eyes widened before they lit up with manic relief.
"Got you...!"
She let out a heartfelt laugh and said loudly.
"I can finally have my kingdom, my powers, everything back!" She glared at Esmeray. "I will have you as my slave, you are now under my contro—"
Her words abruptly stopped when Esmeray moved and raised her hand.
From the tip of her hand, a larva materialised, making Aanat let out a horrifying scream.
"No---!!!"
Esmeray smiled slightly. "So, this is how you use corruption, huh?"
Aanat stared at the larvae that was much different from what she made. In essence, it was not hers but Esmeray’s.
"Haha."
Aanat let out a laugh but tears began to fall uncontrollably.
"Haha... no... haha."
Esmeray ignored the crying goddess as she looked at her kingdom.
In her kingdom there were hundreds of her clones.
Thousands of her clones.
Millions of her clones.
.....Billions of her clones.
She was at peak demigod and a true puppet master.
