Chapter 576: [A Society of Secrets] [23] [Preperation]
In an empty white room with no window or door, a woman sat quietly on a chair.
She wore a delicate black knight gown made of precious metal that had the grace and flexibility of silk.
Her long platinum hair was braided behind her back, complementing her sharp features.
In her lap lay a broad silver sacred sword of the Primordial God Elohim.
The sword that Esmeray had sacrificed an entire Kingdom to obtain.
"Death is inevitable, it is a part of a never-ending cycle." The lady spoke in a soft gentle tone unlike herself.
"This town, city, kingdom, continent, world, universe... everything will succumb to death."
The voice that echoed in the chamber turned absolute.
"Except me."
The cold, lifeless grey eyes shifted towards the sword. Grabbing the hilt, she lifted it upwards.
"Until the concept of death remains, I will always be fractured and never complete."
Closing her grey eyes, she leaned back on her chair.
Drifting memories returned like a silent storm, ones that belonged to her but not quite her.
The memories of a life... that only she remembered.
A time she had long forgotten, a time when her laughter had been as common as the rays of sunshine.
Opening her eyes, she looked straight up at the ceiling as though it created no obstruction.
Her lips parted, and she whispered like a soft melody.
"Being my son is your greatest blessing... but... being my son is also your greatest curse."
The structure of the white room changed, and a door parted open for her to walk through.
Her voice echoed once again.
"A curse you inherited from me."
---
On the other side of the world from Himmel, a young man stood on the surface of the sea with a grim look on his face.
He wore a simple white robe without a speck of dirt or stain.
His long white hair flowed freely behind him while his closed eyes remained fixed on the sky.
"You aren’t ready to fight him yet."
A voice echoed from behind him, making him glance over his shoulder.
An ordinary-looking man walked towards him with a small smile on his face.
"If you fight him, it will inevitably lead to your death." Samyaza warned him once again.
Ismael didn’t respond. He simply looked back towards the sky above the base of the Three Churches.
"Are you going to help me or not?" El asked at last.
Samyaza shrugged casually.
"I can’t have a distorted relationship with my dearest brother over Azrael."
"Isn’t he your brother as well!?" El retorted, holding back his anger.
"A brother who doomed us all." Samyaza replied with a gentle smile. "Frankly, Morningstar is much more important to me than him."
El drew in a deep breath before he began walking in that direction.
"Are you going to walk towards your death?" Samyaza asked. "Has your desire to see your family again simply vanished?"
El paused and turned around.
"Himmel’s life is more important than mine."
As the words lingered, the man was already long gone.
Samyaza stood alone on the surface of the unnaturally still sea.
He let out a sigh. "What a fool."
His body vanished from the place as though he had never been there.
---
In a room filled with the toys of a young girl, a man sat quietly beside the bed.
His long red hair flowed down his back while his golden spiral eyes stared at his child sleeping peacefully on the bed.
Ragnar had always loved looking after his daughter, Joshephe.
She was the one who had made him understand the importance of an anchor in the real world.
Had she not been there, Ragnar was certain Sabaoth would have stolen his body.
He gave his daughter one last look before walking out of the room.
Outside stood a man with black robes flowing around him, exuding an air of ominous authority.
His face was pale, framed by jet-black hair that accentuated his sharp features.
His void-like black eyes stared at Ragnar.
He was Teivel, a loyalist and Ragnar’s right-hand man.
Teivel bowed slightly.
"Just like the leader of Principalities said, ’He’ has indeed arrived on Lumina."
Ragnar’s lips curled into a disdainful smile.
"So, he is finally here."
Before ’He’ had even arrived, Ragnar had already made a foolproof plan with the help of Principalities.
Stretching his neck, Ragnar spoke in a deep voice.
"Time to end what we started."
---
As the enormous dragon flew out of the black hole created in the sky, Himmel felt his heartbeat stop.
The purple dragon was something that could not be described with words.
Its scales were darker than the void between stars, and yet they glowed with an impossible purple radiance.
Every movement of its colossal body distorted space.
Its wings eclipsed the horizon, covering the sun behind them.
Himmel heard his own voice whisper.
"Morningstar..."
As the melody picked up, the purple dragon basked in the glory of its arrival.
Himmel turned around and spoke in a dispassionate tone.
"Run!!"
His words jolted everyone awake from their awe.
Aimar didn’t think twice. He quickly placed his hands on the shoulders of the two princesses and vanished before returning moments later.
Without a word, he did the same for Epione, Zenith, Heather, and Elijah.
"Himmel..."
Christina’s trembling voice echoed from behind.
The hammering of the sky intensified, and when Himmel looked at her, she was glowing golden once again.
His gaze shifted towards Nymeria, and she was glowing as well.
Taking in a deep breath, he forced a smile.
"I will be fine, don’t worry."
Before she could say anything, Aimar quickly placed his hand on Christina’s and Nymeria’s shoulders and took them away.
The garden now held only two people. Himmel and Shyamal.
The silver-haired girl hadn’t moved.
She stood quietly beside him while staring at the dragon descending from the heavens.
"Himmel."
"Go."
"No."
His brows furrowed immediately.
"Shyamal!"
"I said no."
Her voice wasn’t loud, yet there wasn’t the slightest room for negotiation.
Aimar appeared behind her and, without permission, placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Leave me—"
Before she could finish, she vanished with him.
The young man returned to Himmel’s side once again as the dragon descended closer.
The pressure alone was enough to bend space around it.
"Let’s leave." Aimar said firmly.
"...No." Himmel replied, shaking his head. "He is here for me... He will go after the rest if I run away."
Himmel, or more precisely the memories of Azrael, made him understand what type of being Morningstar was.
A sadistic bastard who loved tormenting whoever he targeted.
"Himmel—"
His words were abruptly cut off when a bright light flashed over them.
The enormous dragon’s body condensed into a ball before taking a humanoid shape.
Himmel pushed Aimar back.
"Go."
"You can’t handle him—"
"I am not alone." Himmel cut him off with a bluff. "Don’t worry, just go."
Aimar pursed his lips, but in the end he simply nodded.
Without a word, he vanished from the garden, leaving Himmel alone.
Himmel looked up.
Where the dragon once stood, a man now floated in the sky.
A man in his early twenties with long dark-purple hair that flowed behind him like liquid starlight.
He had a perfect face, like a sculpture crafted by a creator who had spent eternity chasing perfection.
But what made him distinct was the aura around him.
It was as though even mana feared being in his presence.
The man floated down until his feet touched the ground right in front of Himmel.
Even though Himmel was tall, Morningstar was much taller, standing at a staggering eight feet.
Morningstar opened his mouth and spoke in a deep voice.
"What pest have you become, brother?"
Himmel kept his feet firm and tilted his head up to look at the man’s face.
"Is that how you always talk?"
Morningstar looked around, seemingly searching for signs of life.
But Aimar had made sure to rescue everyone, including the maids.
"I have been tolerating your presence for long enough, brother."
Morningstar spoke as he turned his gaze back towards him.
"Since the day Father created you, I... had a feeling you would become a problem."
He raised his hand and seemingly tried to grasp the air.
"That’s why I tried to choke you to death the very first day I saw you."
Lowering his hand, he continued in a disappointed tone.
"Too bad Samyaza rescued you from certain death."
Himmel tilted his head, fighting the urge to relax his tense muscles.
"Why tell me all this?"
Morningstar’s lips slowly curled upwards.
"So you know why I will choke you to death."
His body began floating into the air while his eyes remained fixed on Himmel.
"I am sure Father wouldn’t want you to have a peaceful death." He continued as his body halted midair. "So I will make sure your death is as miserable as possible."
Flexing his muscles, he rushed forward instantly, breaking the sound barrier.
"AHHH!!"
Himmel roared and drew Naraka, swinging it wildly.
