Chapter 494 - 495: Annabelle Linton, Are You Playing with Me?
Leona Grant was beside himself with excitement. He was just waiting for Annabelle Linton to give the word, and he’d strip completely naked.
The more he thought about it, the more his mind raced. The heat in his lower body intensified, threatening to burn him alive.
Though a storm was raging in his heart, his face remained the very picture of a perfect gentleman. "Annabelle Linton, us being like this..."
Annabelle Linton hugged him assertively and murmured coolly in his ear, "Say one more word of nonsense, and I’ll throw you out."
Her feeble threat made Leona Grant laugh. "You think you can?"
"That’s right. Just me."
"Go on, then. Show me what you’ve got," Leona Grant said, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at her.
Annabelle Linton chuckled, then sat up and slowly moved closer to him.
Leona Grant was lying flat on his back. Annabelle Linton moved over him, bracing her hands on the mattress on either side of his head, pinning him down.
Perhaps it was her commanding presence, but the pose wasn’t awkward in the slightest. On the contrary, it was incredibly dominant!
Leona Grant’s heart began to pound like a war drum.
’Holy crap, this is the first time in my life a woman has flustered me this badly!’
Annabelle Linton slowly lowered herself, bringing her lips close to his ear. Her breath was as fragrant as an orchid as she whispered, "You want it?"
’Want what?’
’Her kiss? Her arms around me? Her passion? Her embrace?’
Leona Grant just about lost it.
’Yes! How could I not?!’
Subconsciously, Leona Grant felt it was a trap.
But he couldn’t stop himself from nodding.
’Even if I’m a moth to a flame, I’m going to dive in and burn with a loud, smelly sizzle! Nobody better try and stop me!’
’I’ll fucking fight anyone who tries!’
’I’m hopeless.’
’You’re hopeless, Leona Grant!’
"Heh."
Annabelle Linton let out a cold laugh, swiftly got up, and walked off the bed toward the door. "I’ll sleep next door."
Leona Grant: "..."
’Damn woman, you’re just going to tease me and run?’
Leona Grant sat up, glaring at her menacingly. "Annabelle Linton, are you playing games with me?"
Annabelle Linton turned around, looking at him with an enigmatic, unreadable smile.
Leona Grant was all ready to receive her apology. All that was left was for her to start.
Then, the corners of her mouth quirked up. Her expression came alive as she said with a faint smile, "That’s right!"
Leona Grant: "..."
With that, she slammed the door shut.
"..."
’This is outrageous! Absolutely outrageous! To be bullied by a woman to this extent!’
Fuming, Leona Grant got out of bed, determined to demand an explanation, only to find the door locked from the outside.
’That damn woman!’
He kicked the door twice in a fit of anger before turning back to the bed.
’I’m done. I’m acting like a lunatic in the middle of the night.’
Leona Grant shot a venomous glare at the pillow her head had just rested on, then suddenly pulled it into his arms. "I’ll just hug you then. Go on, say something if you dare."
The pillow: "..."
’Leona Grant wanted to kill himself. She had been right there beside him, and he just had to go and push his luck.’
’There. You went and drove her away, didn’t you?’
’What an idiot!’
That night, Leona Grant slept exceptionally soundly, waking only when the sun was up.
He hadn’t realized that only with Annabelle Linton around did he truly have a soul and experience the full range of human emotion—joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness.
Without her, he was just a walking corpse.
And Annabelle Linton hadn’t realized that Leona Grant had used certain conditions to get her here this time.
He could have easily used those conditions to threaten her, to strip her of all dignity, to grind her into the dust.
But he didn’t.
He was still the same high and mighty, insufferably arrogant Leona Grant, but now, his heart was devoted to a woman named Annabelle Linton.
