Chapter 573: I Just Don’t Want to Leave You (Part 1)
’So I really can’t go?’
Annabelle Linton felt a pang of sadness.
Seeing her turn to leave, Leona Grant thought she was just going to ignore him and storm off.
Before Annabelle Linton even knew what was happening, someone grabbed her arm and yanked her back. The door slammed shut, and the lock clicked into place.
For a second, time seemed to stand still as Annabelle’s eyes met his cold, terrifying gaze...
She...
Suddenly... she lost her nerve... and caved...
’Looks like I’ve really done it this time...’
Annabelle instinctively backed away as Leona advanced on her, one step at a time.
"Let’s just talk this out. I’m warning you, don’t do anything rash..."
Leona strode toward her and raised an eyebrow. "And what if I do get rash? What can you do?"
"You..."
In a single, swift motion, Leona lunged forward. Before Annabelle could even struggle, he had lifted her up and set her down on the vanity.
He braced his hands on either side of her, glaring down at her menacingly. "Annabelle Linton, you’ve gotten awfully bold. Your husband tells you not to go, so you try to sneak off, is that it? Is this any way for a wife to behave? Let me ask you, how old are you? How old, huh?!"
"..." ’But I wasn’t planning on sneaking out.’
"Hmm? Or have you just decided to stop listening to me? Desperate to run off to your precious senior. What’s that all about, huh?"
He slammed his hand on the vanity. "You’re going to explain yourself, right now!"
"And what if I don’t? What can you do to me? Leona Grant, don’t push your luck!"
"Still talking back, are we?" Leona’s anger surged, and he roared, "Do you really think I wouldn’t dare do something to you?"
’Oh, you son of a... You think you can scare me? Fine! I’m taking you on today!’
Not to be outdone, Annabelle shot back, "You’re going too far!"
"I *am* going too far! So what? And I’m not letting you go! What are you going to do about it?"
"You—"
"What about me?"
"You—"
"Enough with the ’you, you, you.’ If you have something to say, spit it out!"
Silence reigned for a few seconds. Both of them were red in the face, sparks practically flying from their eyes.
Just as Leona Grant thought Annabelle was about to explode with rage—
Annabelle threw her arms around him and planted a firm kiss on his cheek. "Darling, I love you!"
Leona Grant: "..."
If it weren’t for the lingering warmth of her lips on his face, he would have thought he was hearing things.
’Could the mood change any faster?’
Her "Darling, I love you" was enough to make his heart melt.
’Did she get the right person?’
Before Leona Grant could get a word in, Annabelle was clinging to him, her hand tracing patterns on his chest as she cooed, "Darling, please let me go. Just let me go. If I miss this, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. Please let me go, okay? Please? Darling..."
"..."
Each "darling" she uttered was turning Leona Grant’s brain to mush.
’Hearing her call him darling... God, he wanted to screw her until she passed out!’
He fought back the urge to pin her down. Though he was secretly loving every second of this, he wanted to hear her beg a little more. So, Leona kept his expression ice-cold. "You think you can get your way just by acting cute? No means no..."
Annabelle threw her arms around him again, kissing him on the lips. Her eyes were wide, and her lashes, enhanced by makeup, looked especially long and captivating. She shook his arm. "Please let me go. Just this once. Please?"
"It’s not up for discuss—"
Annabelle hugged him and kissed his cheek again. "Please let me go. I really promised. I can’t go back on my word to my friends..."
Leona’s voice gradually lost its conviction. "Don’t do that. It won’t work... I’m still not going to let you..."
