Chapter 574: I Just Don’t Want to Leave You 2
Annabelle Linton hugged her again and gave her a kiss, looking at her pleadingly. "Honey, I love you the most. Just this once, please? We’re really just friends. Besides, I have you now. How could I possibly go looking for someone else? I would never do something like that..."
Leona Grant had been in a good mood, but her anger flared the moment she heard that. "How can you have the nerve to say you’ve never done something like that?"
The thought of how inseparable she and Aaron Wyatt had been just a while ago made her heart ache.
’If it weren’t for that incident, they’d probably be together by now, wouldn’t they?’
Honestly, Annabelle Linton was getting very impatient.
This meeting was incredibly important to her. Normally, she would never debase herself by pleading and acting cute like this, but today was different.
If she really wasn’t allowed to go, she’d be the one losing out in the end.
"You’re being harsh with me..." she said, looking at her with wounded eyes.
Leona Grant’s heart instantly softened. She cupped Annabelle’s face and kissed her, asking with a frown, "Do you really have to go?"
Annabelle Linton nodded, looking aggrieved.
Leona Grant’s brow furrowed even more tightly. "If you don’t go, will you really regret it for the rest of your life?"
Annabelle Linton nodded emphatically.
Leona Grant sighed and thought for a long time.
Finally—
She asked with a look of utter reluctance, "How many hours will you be gone?"
Annabelle: "..."
’So they’d been arguing for this long, and it turned out Leona wouldn’t even let her go for a few hours? Annabelle was exasperated.
The flight to Serenvale alone was three hours!
Annabelle Linton’s patience completely ran out. She let go of Leona, so angry she was on the verge of tears.
She wasn’t one to cry, but sometimes, the smallest things could make her feel incredibly wronged.
Annabelle Linton hopped off the dressing table, slipped off her four-inch heels, and started to walk out.
Leona Grant moved to block her path. Seeing her red-rimmed eyes, she felt a pang of remorse and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Annabelle Linton kept her head down and didn’t speak.
Leona Grant cupped her face. "What’s really the matter? I’m letting you go, I never said you couldn’t..."
Annabelle Linton looked up at her in disappointment and said, her voice choked with emotion, "Is it really so hard for me to go out? Can’t you understand that I just want to meet up with a friend? Do you really distrust me that much?"
"It’s such a trivial thing, and look what a huge deal you’ve made of it! My senior and I planned this a long time ago, and I’ve been looking forward to it for so long. I was so excited this morning, and you... can’t you just support me?"
It was such a tiny, insignificant thing. The reason for their argument was so petty it was almost laughable.
She never imagined they would argue over something like this.
But Leona’s reaction was what disappointed her even more.
As she spoke, Annabelle Linton couldn’t hold back her tears any longer. They blurred her vision as she cried, "Leona Grant, I feel like I have no dignity. I have no freedom, no rights... It’s like I’m just your pet. I can’t even have my own dreams... I just want to see a friend..."
Annabelle Linton was too choked up to continue, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand.
A glance at her watch told her she was already late for her flight. Her heart went cold.
"Forget it. I’m not going anymore..."
She turned and headed out.
Leona Grant hadn’t expected things to turn out this way.
Seeing her cry, she was filled with regret.
’Maybe... she’d gone too far...’
Leona Grant walked over and hugged Annabelle Linton from behind.
Because of their height difference, she had to stoop, pressing her face into Annabelle’s hair. Her voice was low as she said, "Annabelle Linton, I’m sorry. I... I just don’t want to be away from you..."
