Chapter 575: I Just Don’t Want to Leave You (3)
"I really don’t want to be apart from you..."
Leona Grant meant it. He really, really didn’t want to be away from Annabelle Linton.
The thought of her leaving, of her going to be with another man—especially some "senior" she was close with—made him unbearably tense.
One Aaron Wyatt... was already a big enough shadow looming over him.
To be honest... he was still very insecure.
Deeply insecure.
He always felt that if someone just like him was standing right next to him, and Annabelle Linton had to choose, she... definitely wouldn’t choose him.
...Even though Annabelle Linton had already explained that she wouldn’t leave him and told him not to overthink things, he was still inexplicably insecure.
What Leona Grant didn’t realize was that the first instinct when you love someone that deeply is to wonder what you did wrong... even if all they did was slam a door.
His feelings for Annabelle Linton had seeped into the marrow of his bones, touching every nerve.
Leona Grant hugged Annabelle Linton and said guiltily, "I’m sorry, Annabelle Linton. I’m the one who upset you. I’m too sensitive..."
He straightened her body to face him and looked at her red-rimmed eyes, his heart clenching with a pang of pain.
Tenderly, he kissed away her tears. Leona Grant pressed his lips together and said regretfully, "I was still asleep. I hadn’t even woken up yet when I heard you were leaving... I don’t want to be separated from you. We only just got together after so much trouble..."
...
"I’m sorry. I keep saying I love you, but I always make you feel wronged and sad. I’m not considerate of you. I’m so, so sorry..."
Leona Grant gave her an appeasing smile, placed her hand on his chest, and sighed. "Annabelle Linton, you should still go... I don’t want you to have any regrets or be unhappy..."
Annabelle Linton kept her head lowered the whole time.
Out of sight, the corners of her mouth had already turned up in a smile.
’Am I the type of person who cries that easily? With this man, if I don’t use a little strategy, my plans will be ruined because of him!’
A moment of silence for Leona Grant.
Leona Grant lowered his gaze to the top of her head, his mood sinking. "The thought of being apart from you makes my heart ache. You haven’t even left yet, and I already miss you..."
...
The two of them were silent for a moment.
Leona Grant tucked a strand of hair from her face behind her ear and said softly, "Annabelle Linton, can you tell me... how many days you’ll be gone?"
He quickly added, "I’m not trying to pressure you. It’s just... it’ll be easier for me to wait that way..."
"I don’t want to go anymore." Annabelle Linton pried his fingers off her, slipped out of his embrace, and said in a low voice, "The flight is delayed anyway. It’s too late now. You should go to work. Don’t worry about me. I’m going to go sleep."
Seeing her cold expression, Leona Grant’s heart tightened. He grabbed her arm, pressing his lips together as he said, "Please don’t be angry anymore..."
With that, he picked up his phone, made a call, and ordered a helicopter.
After giving the order, he shook her arm and said pitifully, "You’re not without dignity, and you’re not my pet. You’re my wife. I just care about you so much that I don’t want you to leave me for that long. Please don’t be angry. I’ll take you to Serenvale, okay?"
Annabelle Linton finally started to relent. "I’ll be gone for about three days..."
"That long...?"
Leona Grant fell silent.
Annabelle Linton glanced at him, sighed, and started walking away.
Leona Grant thought she was angry again, so he quickly grabbed her and said, "Go, go, go. You can go. Just don’t be angry..."
