Remarriage Failed Again Today

Annabelle Linton paused at that, and as if she had touched upon something painful, she fell silent.

She lowered her gaze, her eyelashes trembling slightly. A watery shimmer flashed through her sorrowful eyes.

’Some memories don’t just disappear because you refuse to think about them.’

Annabelle Linton’s choice to forgive Leona Grant didn’t mean she had simply forgotten everything that had happened.

Annabelle Linton and Roxanne Jennings were chatting in the tea room on the second floor.

This room was designed specifically for making tea. It was fully equipped with all the necessary utensils, and the decor evoked a classic garden with small bridges and flowing streams. The fragrant aroma of tea filled the air, creating a poetic atmosphere.

It was getting late, and Annabelle had more or less ignored him all evening.

Leona Grant went to find Annabelle Linton, his expression dark, but he froze at the door when he heard her speaking.

A smile of release touched Annabelle Linton’s lips as she resumed her story. "But that’s not what happened," she said gently. "All I got from him was hurt, again and again. In the end, I took sleeping pills to kill myself. I survived, but when I saw the look in his eyes... that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back."

"Yes, I truly wanted to die that time. I didn’t succeed, but my heart did."

Roxanne Jennings looked at Annabelle Linton in shock, unable to believe that she was still willing to forgive Leona... after he had driven her to suicide.

Standing outside the door, Leona Grant pressed his lips together as a sharp pain pierced his heart.

Annabelle Linton continued, "After that, I just desperately tried to hide from him, to avoid him, to get as far away as I could. But the more I did, the more I realized that what I thought was the truth wasn’t the truth at all."

She thought he had killed her and their child, but he hadn’t.

She thought he didn’t love her, but that wasn’t true either.

She thought he would keep hurting her for another woman, but that wasn’t it either... None of it was true.

It wasn’t until she finally learned that he couldn’t live without her, that he had died for her, that Annabelle Linton was truly able to forgive him.

He hadn’t killed her and their child, so he didn’t deserve her hatred.

He had died for her, so he deserved her love.

Annabelle Linton seemed to smile. "I discovered that he really did love me. Especially in that moment I saw him die for me... when a person is willing to give up their life for you, what is there left to doubt?"

Roxanne Jennings thought she was talking about the time Leona Grant had attempted suicide.

And in truth, that was the time Annabelle Linton’s heart had wavered. She just hadn’t known the truth back then, so she hadn’t chosen to forgive him.

But this only made Roxanne Jennings more confused. "But you didn’t forgive Leona then."

"I didn’t."

Annabelle Linton wondered in that moment, ’Is this fate? That I wasn’t able to leave, and that I got to see the whole truth?’

Annabelle Linton smiled faintly. "But I didn’t manage to leave, did I? So I think it must be fate. And if this is what fate has decreed, then shouldn’t I follow its will?"

Roxanne Jennings looked at Annabelle Linton with a complicated expression.

She found herself admiring Annabelle Linton more and more—admiring her grace and composure.

In truth, life is sometimes unfair, but at other times, it’s very fair.

Being abandoned at the scene of a kidnapping, getting shot, falling into a coma, watching him act happy with another woman, attempting suicide, being consumed by jealousy and anger... Leona Grant had experienced his own version of all of it.

Although the circumstances were different.

’So, it’s time to let go.’

Annabelle Linton said calmly, "Mom, please don’t worry. From now on, Leona and I will be happy together."
