’Her mentor?’

His face soured. "And then?"

Seeing her beaming smile, Leona Grant’s thoughts subconsciously drifted to Aaron Wyatt.

Before she could reply, his expression darkened and he said coldly, "You’re not allowed to go!"

Annabelle Linton had always been the type to leave at a moment’s notice. With no ties to hold her back, she never worried about leaving anyone behind.

Earlier, when Mr. Holland had called, he’d given her a piece of his mind.

He said he’d been trying to call for days but couldn’t get through, and even when he sent someone to find her, she was nowhere to be seen. So, Annabelle Linton had hurriedly bought a plane ticket, put on her makeup, and was about to leave without so much as a word.

Seeing his strong reaction, she was a bit speechless. She rolled her eyes at him and said, "That’s the first sanatorium my mentor is opening in Celestia, and he spent a fortune on it. He tutored me a lot in college. If I hadn’t suddenly returned to the country, I’d still be working under him and would’ve already made a name for myself by now.

We made a promise back then: whoever opened a hospital or sanatorium first would invite the other to the ribbon-cutting ceremony. If I don’t go, our friendship is over. I have to go today. You should go back to sleep. I have to leave, or I’ll be late."

With that, Annabelle Linton got out of bed, looking ready to leave.

With every word Annabelle Linton spoke, Leona Grant’s face grew a shade darker.

’Her mentor?’

His expression sank.

’Tutored her a lot?’

His face grew shadowed.

’Working under him?’

His expression was now as dark as a thundercloud.

’Has to go today?’

Leona Grant’s face went completely black!

’Just what kind of mentor could get her this excited?’

He pulled her back into his arms, his expression grim as he roared, "I said you’re not allowed to go! Didn’t you hear me?!"

Annabelle Linton frowned and pulled away from his embrace. "Stop making a scene. I really have to go, or I’ll miss my flight."

’Miss her flight?’

Leona Grant froze for a second, his voice growing louder. "You’ve already booked a ticket?"

He couldn’t help but growl, "You’ve already made your decision, so what’s there to discuss with me!"

Annabelle Linton genuinely didn’t understand why he was so furious. She looked at him innocently and said, somewhat baffled, "I wasn’t discussing it with you. I was just letting you know."

Leona Grant: "..."

’It’s the crack of dawn, and I’m about to die of anger. This woman is going to drive me insane!’

’Letting me know?’

’Does she even see me as her husband?!’

Leona Grant’s face turned impossibly cold. "I’ll say it one last time. You are not to go!"

After being yelled at so many times, Annabelle Linton’s temper began to flare. She frowned and said, "Leona Grant, can you please be reasonable? This promise is really important to me. If I don’t go this time, Mr. Holland will seriously fall out with me. We were completely serious when we talked about this. Can you please not be like this?"

’Mr. Holland?’

Leona Grant suddenly remembered. There was an internationally renowned medical professor named Quentin Holland—young, successful, and supposedly quite handsome. ’It can’t be him, can it?’

"Quentin Holland?" Leona Grant asked with a frown.

"Yes, yes, yes, that’s him! You’ve heard of him, right?"

Annabelle Linton was completely oblivious to the sinister, jealous expression on the man’s face before her. With a look of pure admiration, she said, "He’s truly my idol. I never would have gotten my degree without him.

He’s the one who pulled all-nighters to tutor me every time I had a competition. Mr. Holland means a great deal to me. Besides, a lot of important doctors, professors, and teachers from the medical field will be there to show their support today. This is a really great opportunity. I have to go."

"When I say you can’t go, you can’t go!"

Leona Grant couldn’t stop himself from roaring again, "Then let the friendship be over! Having me is enough for you; you don’t need any other friends! As for all those professors you mentioned, who do you want to see? Tell me! I’ll get them over here with a single phone call!"
