Chapter 1086 - 1058: Not That Simple
The news played clearly on the radio:
"Recently, a resident kept a large dog at home, but unexpectedly the dog fell from the balcony and killed a pedestrian. The family of the deceased has submitted a compensation request to the court..."
Large dog... That foolish dog seems pretty big. According to the principle of gravitational acceleration, if it falls and hits someone, if it doesn’t kill them, it would leave them with half a life, right?
Thinking of Xiaoqiang repeatedly reminding her to take good care of that guy before setting off, and Minglang’s expectant little eyes, Qian punched the steering wheel, oh well!
She accepted the misfortune.
The car took a turn and headed back towards the residential area.
Being a villain to this extent, is really sad.
She decided to take that silly dog home. If Xiaoqiang returned to see a dead dog, he would definitely be furious. Personally, she really disliked having furry creatures at home, but considering his behavior today, she thought compromising wouldn’t be a big deal.
Yu Minglang, being such a sentimental person, avoided taking the dog directly home out of concern for her feelings. That was quite an improvement.
Besides, after the fiasco of "finding evidence of his betrayal," Qian’s heart had calmed down. Although keeping a dog was not an enjoyable task, it was a better scenario than a husband secretly raising someone outside.
So when Auntie came to check on Qian, she didn’t witness a dramatic scene of a resentful wife confronting a cheating husband. Instead, she saw Qian confronting a big dog, which made Auntie’s eyes go wide.
"Qian... What’s... this?!"
The thing tied with a rope by Qian at the door, exactly what is it?
Mr. Yu quietly restrained Auntie, not letting her change shoes to enter the house.
Pregnant women should stay away from furry things; that’s written in the books.
Qian sat on the sofa, rubbing her sore arm. Bringing the dog back was a disaster. It didn’t cooperate at all, no matter how she dragged it—it wouldn’t budge. Finally, Qian threatened it by saying she was wearing Minglang’s clothes and that it was an order from Minglang. Only then did she manage to pull it out.
"Obviously, this is a dog, yes, because it has served in special units before. Even post-retirement, it should be called a dog. After long observations, I found it’s likely a purebred Labrador."
"Labrador?" Auntie, like a little parrot, could only repeat what Qian said.
"Yes, look, its fur isn’t very long, and it resembles a large Chinese garden dog. Its yellowish color exudes an infinite rustic charm, so I concluded it’s a yellow Labrador rather than a Golden Retriever."
Qian, to manage this dog, specifically searched online for information.
Golden Retrievers and Labradors look quite similar. Minglang didn’t specify the breed, so Qian found out on her own. In her eyes, the dog was no different from a large rural watchdog, but dog breeds have regulations, and rural dogs aren’t generally kept, so she guessed it was a Labrador.
The internet states that although Labradors and Golden Retrievers look alike, Golden Retrievers look very chic while Labradors seem rustic. Seeing a posh-looking big yellow dog and not knowing its name means it’s probably a Golden Retriever. Seeing a rustic-looking big yellow dog, while uncertain of its name, yet knowing it’s not a rural dog means it’s definitely a Labrador.
Qian thought this fellow shouldn’t be called a beauty but instead a rustic girl.
"Aren’t you the one who hates keeping dogs the most, how could—?!" Auntie was too shocked.
Her mind instantly generated a chain reaction: could it be that Qian discovered Xiaoqiang was involved in unnecessary stuff outside and got upset, thus raising a dog as vented destruction?
Auntie’s mind instantly pictured Qian dismembering Minglang and having the dog gnaw on his bones...
"This is what psychology refers to as the contrast effect."
Auntie had a look of confusion; pregnancy dulls the mind for three years, she couldn’t keep up with Qian’s reasoning.
"It means that when you think something is very bad and suddenly encounter something worse, the thing you initially found awful becomes acceptable. For instance, I went to catch someone cheating, but ended up finding no affair, just a dog. This contrast effect made me not find this rustic dog so annoying, understand?"
Auntie nodded in semi-understanding, so the conclusion was Yu Minglang didn’t do anything to betray Qian?
That was really great.
She had been thinking about this all day, rushing over for a peek as soon as her son fell asleep.
"Aren’t you two coming in? Why stay at the door?" Qian beckoned them.
"Let’s go back." Mr. Yu saw Qian’s state and knew everything was fine, pulling his pregnant wife away to leave. He remembered not to let the dog get too close to his wife.
"Second Brother, how’s Panpan?" Qian stopped Second Brother, who was preparing to leave.
"He’s not vomiting anymore, another day’s infusion should have him alright."
"Then after tomorrow’s infusion, you should take the child to our mom’s place immediately."
Qian considered Xiaoqiang saying that the guy had broken out, feeling uneasy.
That guy was a high-IQ criminal; he must know he’s facing a dead-end. What if he comes out and traces Panpan via his biological mother?
Second Brother used his eyes to ask Qian; he knew Qian wouldn’t speak wastefully.
"Last time, Xiaoqiang used new products from the Yu Family as bait to catch him. I guess this time he wouldn’t let Xiaoqiang off when he breaks out. Xiaoqiang joined in the capture, who knows how many days till his return. Our parents are probably missing their son too. You take Panpan back so the elders can see their grandson and be at ease, so will we."
Qian hinted subtly; she believed with Second Brother’s intelligence, he’d understand her words’ deeper meaning.
Sure enough, Second Brother’s eyes sharpened only two seconds after hearing it.
Qian’s meaning, was it—?
He looked at Qian. Qian nodded; yes, that’s the meaning.
"I’ll go back tonight and take Panpan away, tomorrow have the nurse administer infusion at home."
Second Brother made a decisive decision; it was a major concern.
"Why the urgency?" Auntie was kept in the dark throughout; she had a vague feeling that Qian’s earlier words weren’t just simple, but didn’t know what mystery these two were plotting.
"Nothing, elders miss the child, going back early gives everyone peace of mind. Our mom’s courtyard is top-notch, Panpan can receive optimal care."
Qian’s speech was indeed layered.
As long as Panpan was back on Mr. and Mrs. Yu’s turf, safe haven was guaranteed.
Mr. Yu’s courtyard had better security than the Yu Family brothers’ place. Also, once Panpan was in Mr. Yu’s hands, he’d be cut off from the outside world. His schoolteachers wouldn’t know his whereabouts. Mr. Yu had drivers, bodyguards, and a small maid; Auntie and Panpan need not leave home till Minglang captures the person.
"However, why do I feel like your words aren’t that simple?" Auntie glanced at Qian, then the suddenly serious-faced Second Brother. Her intuition told her something was amiss, yet these two didn’t intend to spill the beans.
