Chapter 1013 - 986: This Is Instant Karma (Part 4)
This guy doesn’t even know what he’s dreaming about, laughing in such a sleazy way.
"Hey, you big-headed fool, you’re so stupid!" Yu Mingxi flicked his forehead, "Idiot, I’m leaving now. Be a good boy and go get married."
After saying that, she turned around and took big steps toward the door, and suddenly his voice came from behind her.
"Except for you, I won’t marry anyone, Xiaoxi, I’ll wait for you to come back."
Yu Mingxi paused in her steps, her hand on the doorknob, and said without turning her head, "Don’t wait, I’m a woman without a heart. I can’t give you what you want."
"I don’t need you to give it. Just accept me, and I’ll handle everything else. Is that okay?"
When she flicked him, he woke up. Both of them knew they were sober now, but one pretended to talk in his sleep while the other acted like she couldn’t see his deep feelings.
"No, I won’t interrupt your dreams. I’m never in your dreams." She opened the door and left without looking back.
Hai Zhao covered his head with a pillow. Another failure.
She’s not in his dream, so who is?
Hai Zhao was sad about being rejected again, but this time felt different from usual. Although his heart still ached, he had a vague sense of hope. Last night’s events seemed to show him a glimmer of light. Maybe she didn’t have no feelings for him at all?
Right, find Chen Xiaoqian! She must have a plan!
Hai Zhao, like someone experiencing a miraculous recovery, jumped up to find his phone, which rang at that exact moment.
"Hai Zhao, did you do it last night?" Qian’s voice came through the phone.
Just as Hai Zhao was about to call Qian, Qian called him instead.
"Do it, you big-headed fool! With her like that, how could I possibly make a move?"
"Qian, drink the hangover soup, don’t think I didn’t see you trying to pour the leftovers into the flower pot!" Yu Minglang’s angry voice came through the phone.
"Got it, you’re so annoying, it’s so hard to drink..." Qian complained.
"You dare to party but don’t dare to drink hangover soup, huh? Hurry up and drink it!" Xiaoqiang sternly reminded.
Hai Zhao was rejected by Xiaoxi early in the morning, and now on the phone, he’s being force-fed a painful dose of PDA from the others, making his teeth feel sore.
"Can you two not be so disgusting? I’m already pitiful enough. I almost succeeded last night, but I foolishly rejected it—" Before Hai Zhao could finish his complaint, he heard Yu Minglang’s deafening roar coming through.
"Hai Zhao, are you trying to die? If you dare touch our Xiaoxi, I’ll turn you into a ghost myself! You don’t need to be foolish!"
"I didn’t succeed anyway... Seriously, I don’t even know why I pretended to be such a saint."
In that moment, Hai Zhao was particularly righteous, but after Xiaoxi left with such coolness, he even spitefully thought he’d rather force things to happen. If he successfully had a child with her, maybe she’d marry him for the child’s sake?
"Not doing it was the right choice. If you did, you’d only be friends with benefits at most. It’s better to do nothing. Congratulations, Hai Zhao, the boy who’s been secretly in love for many years. The day you go official is coming soon!"
Qian’s words made Hai Zhao feel invigorated like he’d been injected with adrenaline.
"Are you saying I still have a chance?!"
"Yes, men who can control their desires have a future."
"Honey! Watch your wording!"
Yu Minglang couldn’t take it anymore; this is too blunt!
Yet the bluntness was like a shot of adrenaline to Hai Zhao, who started pacing excitedly around the room.
Words from Qian were almost like prophecies; if she said it, it must be true.
"Don’t get too excited; I haven’t finished talking. Actually, you have one good news and one worry."
"What?"
"The good news is that if Yu Mingxi ever wants to get married someday, you’d be her top candidate. That means if she decides to marry, there’s an 80% chance you’d be the groom, provided you don’t mess around with other women."
"Hahahaha!"
On the other side, someone laughed with wild joy, and Qian moved the phone away from her ear, even on speakerphone, because the noise was annoying.
"Is this guy crazy?" Qian asked Xiaoqiang, who spoon-fed her egg custard.
"Wife, I think you’ve got it wrong. How could Xiaoxi be blind enough to fall for an idiot?"
"Hey brother! Brother-in-law will definitely treat you well in the future. Don’t worry. When you come to brother-in-law’s store, there’ll be no charge for you. Hahaha, I also have good wine at the shop. Sister-in-law, when will you come by to pick it up?"
Hai Zhao was so swayed by Qian he couldn’t find his way north. His switch in attitude was incredibly fast.
Listening to this, Yu Minglang couldn’t stand it, flipped him off through the phone. If only they were closer, he’d teach him a lesson!
"Don’t get too happy too soon; I still have some bad news left to share." Qian prepared to throw a wet blanket over his excitement.
"What bad news?" To Hai Zhao, the biggest good news was just the fact that he and Yu Mingxi had a possible connection. No matter what, other things couldn’t be called bad news compared to that.
"The bad news is, she might never plan on getting married in her lifetime."
"..." Hai Zhao was dumbfounded.
Seconds later, it was Xiaoqiang laughing wildly on the other end.
"Hahahaha!"
"Tone it down; don’t rub it in. He’s suffered enough already. Are you his real brother?" Qian unhappily looked at Xiaoqiang, who was terribly proud.
"Chen Xiaoqian, what do you mean? She doesn’t want to get married?!" He was told he was the first choice!
"Yes, her subconscious attitude toward marriage and love is entirely negative; she firmly believes that being single is the most suitable lifestyle for her, so... you get it."
The good news is, Yu Mingxi does indeed have feelings for Hai Zhao.
The bad news is, what she rejects isn’t Hai Zhao but marriage and love itself. It’s not even like pre-marital jitters; it’s a rare special event from her adolescence that made her certain of her current lifestyle, with no plans to change it.
Hai Zhao’s heart sank immediately.
He suddenly understood why Xiaoxi treated him the way she did last night. It turns out she just saw him as a free snack, the kind you don’t need to pay for...
"Many men have this mindset; women, not so much. If a woman thinks this way, she must be economically independent and highly self-sufficient. Congratulations, your taste isn’t bad."
Hai Zhao couldn’t accept such an outcome, "Chen Xiaoqian, no, Qian! Qian Grandma, you must have a solution, right?"
"Who was it just now calling us siblings? Tsk tsk tsk!" Yu Minglang seized the chance to jab.
"I was wrong; I shouldn’t have gotten carried away. You guys are magnanimous adults, Qian God, you must have a solution. Tell me what I should do?" Businessmen are lively; changing his tune is a matter of seconds, and integrity never was a relevant concept here.
