Chapter 310: Ulterior Motives
"Don’t you have any idea what you’ve done? The owner is already being generous by not kicking you out."
A young woman nearby saw that Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong couldn’t be too harsh with a customer and simply couldn’t stand it anymore.
Man-children these days were just... beyond words.
Seeing someone speak up for Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong, the man shut his mouth, looking embarrassed. The others with him bowed their heads so low they were nearly touching their chests.
’Seriously, I really wish I could say I don’t know him.’
"Please apologize to my friend for your earlier behavior."
Qin Sitong clearly wasn’t ready to let it go. Just because he’d stopped cursing didn’t mean his previous insults could be erased.
If he had insulted a more emotionally vulnerable girl today, he could have very well ruined her life.
"I already shut up, what more do you want?"
’Apologize? Why should I have to apologize!’
’If she’s really so innocent, she shouldn’t care about a few rumors.’
"I’ll give you two choices: one, you apologize willingly, or two, we can have the police come and make you apologize."
The outcome is the same. Only the process is different.
"You!"
The man shot Qin Sitong a venomous glare before turning to Yun Zijin.
"S’rry."
The man, slouched improperly in his seat, mumbled a few words at Yun Zijin, but his voice was quiet and his speech was unclear. No one could make out what he said.
"What did you say?"
Yun Zijin leaned in, indicating she hadn’t heard him clearly.
"I said... s-sorry!"
"Do you know how to apologize or not? If you don’t, we’ll see you at the J Bureau."
Qin Sitong glared at him. ’He can’t even say ’I’m sorry.’ What kind of man is he?’
"I’m sorry! You heard me!"
At this point, the man decided he hated Qin Sitong even more than Yun Zijin.
"That’s more like it. I’m satisfied. I hope you all enjoy your meal."
With that, Qin Sitong turned and went back to the work area, giving Yun Zijin a look that said, ’All taken care of.’
It wasn’t that Yun Zijin actually cared about the apology, but since Qin Sitong had fought for it on her behalf, she felt happy.
However, seeing the defiant look on the young man’s face, Yun Zijin’s expression darkened.
Yun Zijin sat in the Wangyou Milk Tea Shop for a while, not expecting to see someone so completely out of place.
"President Fu?"
That’s right, it was Fu Ze.
Fu Ze saw Yun Zijin too and changed his path, walking over to her.
"Miss Yun, I didn’t expect to see you here."
"This is the shop Tongtong and I opened together. She’s mostly in charge, but I come by to hang out when I have time. Have you tried our signature drink?"
’Lu Yunque has had it. I just wonder if he shared any with Fu Ze and the others.’
Fu Ze shook his head. He’d never been a big fan of sweets.
"Then you’ve come to the right place. Our shop’s signature drink is very famous around here. Tongtong makes it by hand. Want to try one?"
This was Yun Zijin’s way of using Fu Ze’s little crush on Qin Sitong to promote the shop.
"Sure, I’ll have one."
"You got it! Tongtong, one Wangyou Milk Tea!"
Yun Zijin didn’t use the ordering system, just called out the order directly to Qin Sitong.
"Just a minute!"
Qin Sitong was busy and didn’t have time to make Yun Zijin’s order yet. She didn’t look up, so she didn’t notice Fu Ze’s arrival.
Yun Zijin wasn’t in a hurry. She was hoping to enjoy some drama.
"I saw you yesterday at Yungong No. 1. You’re... up to no good!"
Yun Zijin gave Fu Ze a sideways glance, her eyes full of gossip.
Fu Ze rubbed his nose. "Ahem, Miss Yun, you can’t just say things like that."
"Oh, is that so? How strange. The address of our little shop is a world away from the Fu Family’s company. Did President Fu just happen to have business in the area?"
But this area was mostly schools, and she hadn’t heard anything about the Fu Family donating a building or supplies to any of them.
"What are you trying to say, Miss Yun?"
’Fu Ze knew that to have a smoother path in wooing his love, winning over Yun Zijin was the top priority.’
"It’s simple. I won’t stop Tongtong from interacting with you, but you have to promise me that she won’t get hurt because of you."
"No running away pregnant, or your family showing up with a check telling Tongtong to leave you, or some arranged fiancée from home, a childhood sweetheart, and so on."
The more Fu Ze listened to Yun Zijin, the more he felt like he was getting an education.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing."
’Nothing was even close to being settled yet; Fu Ze himself didn’t know how things would turn out.’
But he could guarantee that the primetime soap opera drama Yun Zijin described would absolutely not happen between him and Qin Sitong.
"I don’t care if you know what you’re doing or not. I want you to remember one thing: Tongtong is under my protection."
"If I find out she’s been wronged in any way because of you, I won’t show any mercy."
’Her roots in Dijing were shallow, but with her money alone, there was a lot she could do.’
"Don’t worry. I won’t give you that chance."
"Here’s the Wangyou Milk Tea you ordered... Huh? Mr. Fu?"
Qin Sitong’s attention had been focused on the Wangyou Milk Tea in her hand, so she was surprised to see Fu Ze when she looked up.
’She wondered why the president of a major corporation like Fu Ze would show up in such a down-to-earth place like a milk tea shop.’
"Miss Qin, we meet again."
Fu Ze retracted the sharp gaze he’d used while confronting Yun Zijin, his expression softening considerably.
"He just got here. This cup is for him. Are you still busy? If not, let’s go shopping together after work."
After speaking, Yun Zijin shot Fu Ze a provocative look. "It’s not often we run into President Fu. Care to join us?"
"We’re still a few cups short of selling 200 Wangyou Milk Teas, so I’ll be a while yet."
"President Fu is right here. Just have him buy them all. President Fu wouldn’t mind sparing a few hundred bucks, would he?"
’Yun Zijin was determined to squeeze Fu Ze’s wallet dry, even if it was just for a small amount.’
"No problem. I have a driver and bodyguards outside. How many cups are left? I’ll buy them all."
The cost of a few cups of milk tea, even with Wangyou Milk Tea’s steep pricing, was just a drop in the bucket for Fu Ze. He wouldn’t feel the pinch at all.
"There are... six cups left. You want all of them?"
"I’ll take them all. Add this cup to the bill as well."
Fu Ze took out his phone, ready to scan the QR code to pay.
Although he usually paid with a card, he still knew how to make online payments.
"That’ll be 616. Scan the code here."
Yun Zijin quickly calculated the price and pointed to the QR code sticker on the table.
To make payment convenient for customers, a QR code for the shop’s account was stuck on every table.
Without a hint of hesitation, Fu Ze transferred the money. Qin Sitong went back to the work area to make the Wangyou Milk Teas.
Once Qin Sitong had left, Fu Ze put down his phone and looked at Yun Zijin. "I don’t drink milk tea, but isn’t the price of your signature drink a bit inflated?"
A milk tea that cost 88 yuan a cup... even Fu Ze found that a bit outrageous.
"Take a sip, and you’ll understand why it’s priced that way."
You get what you pay for. In fact, Yun Zijin thought the price was set too low.
If it weren’t for the fact that they had just opened and a high price would make it hard to attract customers, Yun Zijin’s original price was 128 a cup.
’She had already knocked 40 yuan off the price. See how kind I am?’
