Chapter 432 - 405: Ambushed
"Haha! My new boss! I’ve been waiting for you to arrive! I’m your deputy, Billson."
As soon as Fang Chenyi’s vehicle came to a stop, the man with glasses in the lead immediately spread his arms and walked forward to greet him.
The smile on his face was so radiant that it was impossible to associate him with the Cobra Organization.
However, based on what Fang Chenyi knew, this Billson was actually the third-in-command of the Cobra Organization.
"Brother Fang, that looks like Billson. Should we take him out?"
Inside the amphibious armored vehicle, Qi Xiaotian watched Billson, a bloodthirsty glint flashing in his eyes.
Seeing this, Fang Chenyi just smiled and waved his hand dismissively.
"It’s fine. If he tried to make a move on us now, he’d be a real idiot. Heh, that Apache overhead isn’t just for show. Come on, let’s get out. Besides, I get the feeling this guy is actually quite friendly."
With that, Fang Chenyi reached out, pulled open the door of the amphibious armored vehicle, and stepped out.
Seeing this, Qi Xiaotian didn’t dare hesitate and quickly followed him out of the vehicle. He muttered to himself, ’Friendly? I’m not sensing any friendliness.’
The men in the other two vehicles saw this and quickly got out as well. They stuck close to Fang Chenyi, ready to respond to any sudden developments.
Fang Chenyi merely smiled at this, calmly extending a hand to shake Billson’s as he approached.
At the same time, an equally radiant smile spread across Fang Chenyi’s lips.
But Billson, as their hands met, suddenly froze. His entire body seemed to have been locked in place.
Fortunately, the man usually wore a haughty expression. As he stood there shaking Fang Chenyi’s hand with an unmoving smile frozen on his face, his subordinates just thought their boss was trying to look cool.
It wasn’t just his men; even Qi Xiaotian and the others thought the same thing.
Of course, of everyone present, only the two men involved knew what was happening. Or, to be more precise, only Fang Chenyi himself knew what was happening.
As for Billson, he was merely the one experiencing it—and an unwitting one at that.
That’s right. Fang Chenyi was using his ultimate trump card on him: Celestial Gods!
The moment their hands clasped, Fang Chenyi seized the opportunity to perform a complete and total thought injection.
As for what, exactly, was injected? It was simple. Fang Chenyi implanted a new memory, branding it deep within his soul.
It made Billson believe that he had always been Fang Chenyi’s mole, and everything he was currently doing was part of his undercover mission.
Fang Chenyi felt this was the most fitting form of brainwashing for the situation.
The brainwashing process was quick, but in the context of a simple handshake, it felt incredibly long.
Shaking hands for nearly a minute without saying a word made the atmosphere grow tense.
But under the menacing watch of the circling Apache and the three pitch-black ’iron barrels’, Billson’s men didn’t dare make a single move.
The seconds ticked by. Suddenly, their hands released. At the same time, Billson immediately ran backward. To everyone’s astonishment, he snatched a walkie-talkie off a subordinate’s shoulder, pressed the talk button, and yelled into it.
"Stand down! Everybody, stand down! Everyone, come out!!"
As he shouted, all of Qi Xiaotian’s men sprang into action. In the blink of an eye, they formed a protective circle around Fang Chenyi, raising their weapons and aiming at the surrounding men.
Not only that, but Liu Yishou in the sky quickly made a pass, scanning the area for any suspicious targets.
After all, with the exception of Tie Dan, none of them could understand what the man had just yelled into his radio.
Fang Chenyi was quite satisfied with his men’s reaction, but he stepped forward with a smile and patted Qi Xiaotian’s shoulder.
"Xiaotian, no need to be so tense. It’s alright."
Just then, Tie Dan, who was standing to the side, translated for the others, explaining that Billson’s radio call was an order to halt the operation.
He had barely finished speaking when Billson lowered his radio. Immediately after, trapdoors all over the ground behind him were thrown open from below, and countless armed men began to climb out.
Seeing this, the hearts of Qi Xiaotian and his men sank.
Their grips on their weapons tightened.
The group that suddenly appeared numbered over two hundred men. However, every single one of them wore a look of utter confusion and doubt. They didn’t understand why the boss had suddenly called them out. ’Wasn’t the plan for the boss to dodge back after the handshake, and then we’d launch the attack immediately?’
’Even though they have a helicopter, we have a big gun specifically to deal with it!’
Of course, despite their confusion, none of them dared to ask why. Most of these men were Billson’s trusted confidants.
The ones who weren’t his confidants had been under the command of that big-bearded man from before. But now that he was dead, they certainly weren’t going to speak up.
Seeing that everyone had emerged, Billson shouted to the assembled men:
"Alright, put your weapons away! This really is our new boss. You’re all dismissed for now. After the boss has had a chance to rest, he will address you all."
Hearing his command, everyone put away their gear without protest. They cast one last deep look at Fang Chenyi’s group and then dispersed.
Even after watching the men leave, Qi Xiaotian remained on high alert. He didn’t relax, even when Fang Chenyi told him he didn’t need to be so tense.
After all, he had no idea that Fang Chenyi had used a game-breaking technique like ’Celestial Gods’ on Billson.
Of course, even if Fang Chenyi had told him, he would never have believed in something so unscientific.
Once the crowd had dispersed, Billson hurried back over to Fang Chenyi.
But as he passed Qi Xiaotian, the muzzle of Qi Xiaotian’s gun tracked his every move.
"Alright, let’s go. We should find somewhere private to discuss the situation here."
With that, Fang Chenyi led the way toward a sheet-metal building nearby.
