Chapter 448 - 421: He’s Out
The rope hadn’t been long enough when he came down, forcing him to slide the rest of the way. Now, without a rope, climbing back up the steep slope was clearly impossible.
As for waiting for Qi Xiaotian and the others to break down the stone door, that was obviously just as impossible. Fang Chenyi remembered from when he first came down that the stone door was at least a meter thick.
A stone door of this thickness clearly wasn’t something an ordinary person could smash open. What’s more, who knew if there was some secret to the door, but even a jackhammer couldn’t drill through it.
He sighed in resignation. ’Am I really going to be trapped here just like this?’
He’d gotten his hands on the treasure, but he had no way of getting out. What a pain in the ass.
Feeling the pangs of hunger in his stomach, Fang Chenyi had no choice but to crawl back into the tent, pull out some food, and start eating.
There was no other way. The area was now covered in a thick layer of Bone Powder; only the inside of the tent was clean.
Once inside the tent, he plopped down on the ground, but his gaze was suddenly drawn to a small hole on the floor.
’Huh? Is this the indentation from the Bone Claw?’
He shone his high-powered flashlight on it and saw that the ten-centimeter-plus indentation on the ground did indeed look like the mark left by the Bone Claw.
At this, Fang Chenyi’s eyes lit up. ’I might have a way out of here!’
Suppressing his joy, he hastily scarfed down his food. He then pulled out his grabber tongs. With a quick motion inside his woven bag space, the tongs clamped down, and Fang Chenyi pulled out the half-meter-long Bone Claw.
He swung the grabber tongs in his hand as if they weighed nothing, and the large Bone Claw at the end immediately began to sway back and forth.
Without bothering to pack up his tent, he went straight to the entrance of the sloped passage, holding the Bone Claw with his tongs.
Looking at the upward-sloping passage, a smile touched the corner of Fang Chenyi’s mouth. Then, he swung the grabber tongs, bringing the Bone Claw crashing down hard on the stone slab in front of him.
With a loud CRASH, Fang Chenyi saw by the light of his flashlight that a deep hole, nearly half a meter deep, had appeared in the stone slab.
Seeing this, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. ’Holy shit, it’s that powerful? Looks like I used too much force! But still, this method really works.’
Fortunately, the passage was wide enough. Fang Chenyi conducted a series of tests at the bottom and finally got the hang of the right amount of force to use.
Over the next while, he swung the grabber tongs holding the Bone Claw again and again.
Before him, he had managed to smash out a series of step-like indentations in the stone.
He hunched over, moving up step by step, all while effortlessly swinging the grabber tongs to clear the path ahead.
What was once an impossible problem had now become surprisingly easy and satisfying.
After half an hour of work, Fang Chenyi had already reached the spot where his rope was.
He swung the Bone Claw again, smashing it hard into the ground. A half-meter-deep hole immediately appeared in front of Fang Chenyi.
He reached in, brushed away the loose rubble inside the hole, and then plopped himself down into it.
’Oh, hey, not bad. This big hole feels just like a stool. It’s actually pretty comfortable.’
He took out some water and had a drink, then popped a piece of chocolate into his mouth to replenish his energy.
After he finished, Fang Chenyi thought for a moment, then put the Bone Claw and the grabber tongs back into his woven bag.
Now that he had a rope, he figured he should just use it to climb. It would save some time.
And so he went, climbing and stopping, climbing and stopping. Whenever he got tired, he would take out the Bone Claw, smash a large hole in the ground, and sit inside it to rest for a while. Once he had recovered, he would continue climbing.
Time passed, bit by bit. Finally, after more than three hours of effort, Fang Chenyi once again stood before the massive stone door.
Looking at the enormous stone door, Fang Chenyi finally let out a long sigh of relief.
He swung his grabber tongs, and in just a few strikes, smashed out a platform at the base of the door that he could stand on.
He easily let go of the rope, placed the Bone Claw in the large hole in front of him, and then rubbed his aching hands, which were chafed from the rope. After stretching his stiff muscles, he picked up the grabber tongs again, sized up the stone door for a moment, and finally chose a convenient spot to strike.
Then he wound up and smashed the Bone Claw in his tongs against the stone door with all his might!
CRASH! RUMBLE!
The instant the Bone Claw made contact with the stone door, there was a tremendous noise, and a large hole was smashed right through it.
At the same time, because he had used too much force, he couldn’t maintain his grip, and the Bone Claw flew right off the tongs and out through the other side of the door.
’Crap, I used too much force again!’
Looking at his empty grabber tongs, Fang Chenyi shook his head with a wry smile, utterly speechless. ’And here I was, thinking this stone door would be incredibly tough,’ he thought. ’Turns out it was nothing special after all!’
Brushing the stone dust off his clothes, Fang Chenyi didn’t hesitate, climbing straight through the large hole.
However, he froze the moment he was out.
"Holy shit! Xiaotian, what are you all doing?! Put your guns down, put them down!"
Dozens of crew members were positioned around the stone door, every single one of them tensely aiming their guns right at it.
When they saw that the person climbing out of the suddenly-appeared hole was none other than Fang Chenyi, everyone let out a collective sigh of relief. Qi Xiaotian hurriedly lowered his weapon and rushed over to him.
"Whew! Brother Fang! It’s so good to see you’re okay! You scared us to death."
Seeing Qi Xiaotian’s anxious face, Fang Chenyi gave him a wide grin, then patted the dust off his own clothes and said:
"Haha, I’m fine, I’m fine. Uh, thanks for the hard work, everyone. You can all go rest now. Oh, right, did any of you see something fly out of here?"
Hearing Fang Chenyi’s words, everyone instinctively turned their gaze to the earthen wall directly opposite the stone door.
Following their gazes, Fang Chenyi looked over and saw a large hole, over half a meter wide, in the dirt wall more than ten meters away.
As for the Bone Claw, it was nowhere to be seen!
’Holy shit! I went through all that trouble to get you back, don’t you dare be lost now!’
Muttering to himself, he ignored everyone else and ran toward the dirt wall, grabber tongs in hand.
Once he reached it, Fang Chenyi immediately plunged his grabber tongs deep into the dirt wall.
Just as he was about to stick his entire arm in, he finally felt the tongs make contact with an object.
Without hesitation, he clamped down and pulled. The next moment, the half-meter-long Bone Claw was easily extracted from the dirt.
Seeing that the Bone Claw wasn’t lost, Fang Chenyi let out a long sigh of relief.
But when he turned around, he was stunned to discover...
