Chapter 447 - 420: Bone Claw
After studying the giant skeleton before him for a moment, he walked over, woven bag in hand.
Standing before the Bone Claw, which was a good half-meter in size, Fang Chenyi carefully reconsidered the feasibility of his plan.
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. He took a deep breath.
"Whew... It’s all or nothing!"
After muttering this to himself, he opened the mouth of the woven bag. While focusing his thoughts on the object inside the Bone Claw, he slipped the bag over it.
That’s right—Fang Chenyi planned to use his woven bag’s storage space to collect the object from within the Bone Claw.
Based on past experience, as long as Fang Chenyi focused his thoughts on an object while placing it in the bag, the storage space would suck it in.
In the current situation, this seemed to be the only way to get it.
CRACK~
The instant Fang Chenyi slipped the woven bag over the Bone Claw, a loud CRACK echoed through the great hall.
Immediately after, Fang Chenyi was astonished to find that the Bone Claw before him had vanished completely.
That cracking sound, apparently, was the Bone Claw breaking away from the rest of the skeleton.
Seeing his success, Fang Chenyi pumped his fist in excitement.
"Oh yeah! This trick really works!"
But the next moment, before he could open the woven bag to check on the item, the skeleton in front of him suddenly began to tremble.
In the span of a single breath, the entire skeleton exploded with a BOOM, turning into a sky-filling cloud of powder.
"Holy shit! Why the fuck did it self-destruct?!"
The air in front of him was instantly filled with a cloud of Bone Powder. Fang Chenyi immediately spun around and ran, but the space was limited. Even after retreating to a corner, he was still enveloped by the dense cloud.
He suddenly remembered he had a pop-up tent in his woven bag’s storage space. Covering his mouth and nose with one hand, he quickly rummaged inside the bag with the other and pulled the tent out.
With no time for a closer look, Fang Chenyi grabbed two drawstrings and pulled hard. Instantly, a two-meter-square tent popped up in front of him.
Without a second thought, he dove inside and immediately zipped the flap shut.
Only then did Fang Chenyi take a long, deep breath.
He had to admit, this waterproof tent was incredible. Once he sealed all the vents, it became a veritable airtight fortress.
Heaving another long sigh of relief, Fang Chenyi peered out through the tent’s transparent window, only to discover with a sense of helplessness that he couldn’t see a thing outside.
"What in the world are this thing’s bones made of?!"
Fang Chenyi muttered to himself as he listened to the sound of the powder continuously pattering against the tent.
This wasn’t an exaggeration on Fang Chenyi’s part. The sheer volume of the powder was immense. To put it plainly, you probably couldn’t grind this much powder even from ten such skeletons.
Of course, Fang Chenyi had no way of knowing this was because the density of the Flood Dragon Bone was simply too high. In layman’s terms, it was incredibly compressed. To put it into perspective, a cubic centimeter of gold normally weighs around 19.3 grams, whereas a cubic centimeter of this bone weighed a terrifying 200 grams!
What did that mean? It meant this skeleton was more than ten times denser than gold! And compared to the bones of an ordinary animal of the same size, its mass was hundreds of times greater!
This was why it had produced such a massive cloud of Bone Powder when it self-destructed.
Time ticked by. With nothing else to do while hiding in the tent, Fang Chenyi simply pulled over the woven bag, opened it, and reached inside.
Sure enough, a half-meter-sized Bone Claw was lying quietly in a corner of the woven bag’s storage space.
Driven by curiosity, he reached in and pulled it out.
However, something completely unexpected happened. The instant he grasped the Bone Claw and pulled it out of the woven bag, there was a loud THUD.
As Fang Chenyi’s body tilted abruptly, the entire Bone Claw slammed heavily onto the ground.
"Holy shit! This thing is that heavy?!"
This was something Fang Chenyi had never anticipated, and it had caught him completely off guard.
Rubbing his slightly sprained wrist, he gripped the Bone Claw and used all his strength to try and lift it. But to his dismay, Fang Chenyi discovered that he couldn’t even begin to budge it with his own power.
Giving up on trying to lift it, Fang Chenyi once again drew the broken dagger from his leg sheath, but he still couldn’t pry the claw open in the slightest.
"What kind of treasure is this, anyway? It won’t let go even in death!"
Now, Fang Chenyi was even more interested in the treasure that was just barely visible within the Bone Claw’s grasp.
He fiddled with it for a long time to no avail. With no other options, Fang Chenyi finally took out his garbage tongs.
’I have to say, these garbage tongs of mine are seriously badass.’
With their ability to negate all weight, Fang Chenyi lifted the Bone Claw with the tongs without exerting the slightest bit of effort.
Seeing this, Fang Chenyi slapped his forehead. ’Damn it! If I’d known, I would have just used the tongs on the Bone Claw from the start! With the weight of the skeleton, it might have even snapped the claw right off.’
Of course, it was a little late for such thoughts now. He used the garbage tongs to place the Bone Claw back into the woven bag’s storage space.
Taking a deep breath, Fang Chenyi felt the air inside the tent growing a bit thin. He glanced outside; it seemed the Bone Powder had finally settled.
But to his dismay, Fang Chenyi discovered that his tent had been buried under nearly twenty centimeters of Bone Powder.
He managed to force the zipper open. The great hall had once again plunged into darkness; the lights were now completely buried under the Bone Powder.
Holding a high-powered flashlight and treading on the thick layer of Bone Powder, he dug out the lamps one by one.
With the hall once again illuminated, he could see that the entire chamber was now a blanket of pure white.
He searched the area where the skeleton had originally stood one more time, but still found nothing. ’Looks like the only treasure here was the object clutched in that Bone Claw. Even though I can’t get it out yet, at least it’s in my possession now.’
He raised his wrist to check the time. It was already past two in the afternoon. ’Qi Xiaotian must be anxiously searching for me up there by now.’
He picked up his walkie-talkie and pressed the button, but there was still no signal. Looking up at the pitch-black passage he had come down from, Fang Chenyi felt a headache coming on.
